No apologies needed!!! It's amazing to see such RARE footage from these amazing artist. Kudos to you and all the success you've had with TheBlackMusicArchives
Pattis vocal power and stamina is just outstanding. The sound is so full and filling. Miss Natalie has such a beautiful Jazz voice. She should have had two simultaneous careers.
She did and she took them to the same stage often. I have seen her basically give us 2 SHOWS IN 1! :) The jazz folks had their fun and then the R&B fans got to act a fool!
@@KevinETaylor I am a fan of both jazz and R&B, so I loved it when Natalie presented both in a concert that I attended in the late '90s. She was such a consummate artist in both genres. In that concert, she shared the bill with George Benson, another great jazz and R&B artist.
You dare not give drum sticks to Sheila E… You never give a mic to Patti LaBelle… You don’t dare hand a ballad to Natalie Cole… Else they will not fail to tear up that stage with a fire performance!
Oh thank you for this piece of history. Patti and Natalie were cutting up on those mics, and Sheila was playing them drums and almost caught the holy ghost. I loved it.
RARE! Baby, they BOTH were belting. Nice head C6- D6 from Patti, a couple chest G5-G#(?) and Natalie belted a B5-C6 or was it Bb5?!!! They ate this!!! Just a hoopin and hollering! Natalie adds a lot of twang nasality to her belts. Patti has a more chesty coordination.
This is why I love both of these singers and Shelia E. Everybody doing their own things and leaving us with a grand masterpiece to enjoy forever. Thank You for the post and all that you’re doing. My Ladies simply wore this performance out. My soul is jumping ❤️❤️❤️🙌🏽
LOVE THIS! Thank you for all you do. I've only heard their studio version singing this - you can find it on TH-cam. However, I am confused about why people are taking shots at Patti or making competitive comparisons between her and Natalie. If you are a fan of Natalie, don't reveal your insecurities by taking shots at Patti! It's silly! THESE ARE LEGENDS! Both are masterful, powerful, and sopranos! Also, we must address the misogynoir in the "loud black woman" trope thrown as a detriment and an oversimplification of Black women artists. Patti LaBelle is not JUST loud. Those with a proper musical ear or an understanding of the voice will note the vocal complexities, the intricate note choice, and the amount of nuance it takes to sing how she sings. Natalie's voice has a more slender texture, powerful ping, excellent resonance, emotional tonality, and gorgeous range! Patti's voice is heftier in nature, with a metallic texture, penatrating power and drama. Both have a twang like no other, breath support for days, and the IT factor; thus should be completely RESPECTED.
This is true live performing by three legendary artists! All three are gifted in their own special way. It’s just so beautiful to see talented people rejoicing within the gift God granted to them. Thank you for sharing this footage with all the fans. Natalie is truly missed but her brilliance and gift to music continues to live on each passing day. Natalie's voice became a lil pitchy at times after her drug use. Early 70s she was a beast but she would battle anyone.
