Sabonis would've been a top 25 all time NBA player for sure, probably even better, if he would've come over in his prime. Tall, skilled, strong, great shooter and passer. rebounded well. blocked shots. I mean, what else would you want from your big guy? An all time great. props from the USA
He was still in his 'prime' when he come to NBA. He was long time in 'prime' mode and also long time injured. What I want to say? When he was playing like this in 85 or 86 or 87 he was still not at his peak, still improving. When he got his prime he was already injured. Pity.
1985 eurobasket, plays for the soviet union, would probably go atleast top 3 overall in the nba 1986 gets drafted as 30th due to uncertainty described below 1988 olympics (amateurs are only allowed to play, sabonis as a result is not allowed to leave soviet union and join nba which would have given him a status of a professional) wins gold medal for the soviet union against the united states, their forever enemy at that time (same now i suppose lol) Overall the soviets got what they wanted, Sabonis carrying their manufactured national team to the medal they always craved for. Along the way they also ignored Sabonis' health, which has contributed to all the injuries he sustained before coming to the NBA.
@@ApasTalaz Being an amateur, that is, not a professional, many people thought he was the best center in the world, but in any case, before the injury, and even after, he could fight face to face against Moses Malone, Olajuwon or Karem Abdul Jabbar, in my opinion, the best Center ever with his Sky Hook
Impresionante, Me hubiera gustado verlo en un enfrentamiento con karem
Looks so spry and mobile. Would be a superstar in today's NBA.
He would be a superstar no matter what era in the NBA had he played in his prime.

He had unimaginable potential, he must have gone to play NBA at that time
