  • RATS are feasting on heaps of rotting rubbish piled high in the streets of affluent Brighton as bin men strike.
    Shock pictures show residents walking a grim path through overflowing bins piled 10 feet high as unions warn the misery could continue for another five WEEKS.
    The strike is only into its seventh day - raising fears the city could become a hygiene danger before the situation is resolved.
    Union reps from GMB recently stormed out of a meeting with the Green-led council after turning down its latest pay offer.
    They left the talks before officers had finished setting out their proposal, Brighton and Hove News reports.
    Bin men working for firm Cityclean had planned to return to work to clear the streets before striking again between October 21 and November 3.
    However, they now say they won't be returning until the middle of next month.
    Refuse truck drivers voted to strike last month over changes to duties and bin rounds.

      Thatcher ensured workers would not easily choose to go on strike by deregulating the financial services, which subsequently allowed anybody to build up large debt. Your average earner is mired in personal or mortgage debt, often borrowing more than they can really afford and making themselves enslaved to the bank's financial system in the process. Not many people can afford to risk losing their homes or being blacklisted on credit card systems. Thatcher was dreadful but very clever.

    What _really_ happens with rubbish after it's collected?
    I mean, other than landfill...
    If it's so much of a difficulty to process, why not simply promote replicating such a process, on a domestic scale?
    For _recycling_ [tins], you can of course put them into a kiln, melt them down, and recycle them for use as another object.
    Rather than giving money to someone to leave you with less.
    What does normally happen with rubbish...does it get "checked" for metal with a huge magnet?
    Does it get "filtered" to separate smaller debris to "check" again for significant materials?
    I am actually interested in this, as I've considered having a "refuse processing" facility at home, negating the need for quite a large scale infrastructure.

    • @letsdiscussitoversometea8479
      @letsdiscussitoversometea8479 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jordan Belfort
      I wonder if there's a financial ""incentive"" to just simply - _bury_ - everything in one go, without other processes filtering out - and possibly contaminating the soil/groundwater...
      At least with [the _idea_ of] a domestic refuse processing facility, then there may be more of a "want" to separate out the rubbish for magnetising, composting, melting down [glass], cleaning of plastics before (somehow) turning it into something else - however that would work...
      Maybe incineration? Or turning certain material into solid slag??
      Just some ideas.
