the empathy and sadness and concern on the other girls’ faces for Hazel, especially Riley’s, once they felt the energy in the room get a bit darker is astounding. There’s so much love in this family and it brings me such happiness that we to get to experience their lives

As a person who has gone through multiple eye surgeries I really hope they have this surgery for Hazel. I am so so grateful that I had these surgeries at a young age, before kindergarten!

I agree! They just make such a situation for her and freak her out when they could do the exact opposite and not make her a spectacle ALL the time!! All the other kids see her getting all the attention and it’s a problem! Why does Hazel even need to be involved in all this… she’s too young and all she needs to know is NOTHING!!!! Help you’re child without involving a TODDLER in adult decisions! They go to the doctor… she gets a shot to make her relax …she gets her surgery and then there is no stress for ALLLLLLLL the kids including the patient!! THIS IS CRAAAZY!!! ! Cmon Busbys! This is BS and mentally abusive to a BABY!!!!
@@dinxie8221 As someone who grew up with a chronic condition, I can tell you that would never realistically work. Doctors can ask questions that parents wouldn't think to ask, and that's really important when it comes to making treatment decisions. Also, she needs to learn to deal with this situation, because when issues come up at school or in other settings she is going to have to advocate for herself. Especially when it comes to her peers, because little kids are often cruel, and she will find herself needing to explain the situation to people sooner than you might think. In fact, I'd say that the Busbys need to make sure Hazel understands more rather than less, especially about the importance of answering her doctor's questions. Also, we have to remember that virtual appointments are weird, so seeing Hazel on-camera might me important for the doctor. As far as the other kids, they just need to be told that they aren't allowed in a situation, and learn to mind their parents more.
I agree. As a teacher, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother, I've learned kids are more resilient than we realize.
Plant the positive seed and they will flourish.

It's all in the producers editing, to create drama where there isn't any. It's how they make documentary to make them more interesting to viewers. If the would record and show in real time and not edit where they swap different scenes in time and focus on something non related to that time, then we wouldn't watch any TLC series. It would be too boring.

Parents need to be strong for children and show confidence in that the doctor knows what is needed. To start the whole session off by saying “Hazel are you nervous?” Immediately puts her on guard. Now she’s thinking should I be nervous!. Treat it as if she is video chatting with someone she knows well. Say, ok Hazel let’s see what Dr has to say. One of you could say, I like talking to Dr because she can tell us what’s going on with you eye. Just my experience with my kids when they had doctor appointments.
I know right. So much these parents say, I cringe at. They need to have some sort of guidance and learn how to speak to their kids properly. Adam says some awful things sometimes, particularly when he is stressed or annoyed.

Hazel is the cutest most adorable little girl I have ever seen. I am sure she is an angel straight from heaven. I have poor health and can't do much but watching that beautiful, brave little darling every day makes life worthwhile. She skips about, carrying a soft toy and seems to be so happy and takes everything in her stride. I think she is very special.

My wife was born with bilateral cataracts. At 6 months old, they removed her lens in the right eye. The left eye cataract never matured so she has vision in that eye. This was in 1955, when technology was non existent. Now, they can remove the cataracts and restore vision. Too late for my wife, but technology has come a long way. Hazel's eyes have an excellent chance of becoming healthy and with full vision. I wish her all the best!

My mom also was born in 1955! Has eye surgery when she was 5. Poor technology and medicine so she had to wear wrapping around her entire face afterward

Hazel will be absolutely fine. I was born premature at 27 1/2 weeks-2lb 10ozs in 1950. I had similar eye problems and had some surgery (3) as a child. There is medical interventions available now to help children, nothing was available in the 50s. She'll do great! Blessings💙

I was born with strabismus and over the years have had over 10 surgeries on my eyes. I had my first at 6mo and my last at 16 or so. I am now 25 with minimal issues besides the smallest perscription in my glasses 😊 Wishing Hazel the best!
I personally can feel for hazel in this situation. (I don’t exactly have the same condition but I am visually impaired) I’ve been going through this since I was very young too and it’s super stressful and hard in someone so young. I hope her situation gets better 💜

Well, she is also being filmed, she might not understand her Dr. being on the laptop, and all her siblings are surrounding her and listening. I think that all is quite embarrassing. Some things just shouldn’t be filmed.

I feel for all of you how hard it must be for you all to be going through this terrible situation I’m sure I speak for myself and others that our prayers are with you and your all very much loved and missed and it couldn’t be too soon for us all to see you back on your show under what use to be our normal circumstances I have the up most confidence that you are both taking the up most care of yourself and the girls and love to you all.
Well really parents shouldn’t set up the stage in Hazel’s mind by saying things like “nervous” or she won’t talk to the doctor (paraphrasing). I think she would probably communicate. I think she acts the way her parents are expecting her to react, and Hazel acts on it. Hazel’s better than that. She can communicate very well. Just saying, and no offense.
But, her parents did a fantastic job of explaining what is currently going on with beautiful Hazel.
