The argument for chaos daemons taking on mortal forms is they are born of mortal thoughts and emotions. for Nurgle, it's thoughts of despair and hopelessness.
There was a bit of lore that a plaguebearer was created when a mortal afflicted with various plagues and poxes genuinely wishes or even acts for a final release from the pain associated with the Nurgle's blessings.

I've been trying to design an Earthdawn Horror (or two) and hearing your thoughts about cosmic horror cemented that I was definitely on the right track, but I should add more uncanny valley and some fungi forms. The colour scheme looks wild and perfect for them.

I love your take on this. Thinking of miscast’s nurgle diaries it’s amazing how different talented artists can come up with such wildly different and creative takes on the same army. I’d love to see more of this.

Great video. The only idea I would have for nurglings would be to have them look like they are made from the separate remains of a human. So one that grew from a hand or a pair two that grew on the different ends of a separated arm being still attached to each other by it. You could of course turn the human into a grotesque creature first before he fell apart making the nurglings look even stranger. If this isn't what you are looking for, I hope it at least gave you some inspiration. Good luck with all your endeavors.
