could you share more about the clay you use? inquiring minds want to know
great work btw
Thank you! The clay is a blend of two epoxy clays. One is called Green Stuff, the other is Milliput. Greenstuff is very tacky, sticky, and plastic like on its own. Milliput is soft, crumbly, and cures like stone. Mixing them in equal parts gives you an amazing clay thats great to work with!
Hey Terran, Just wanted to say that I found your channel recently and your work is incredible. I’m feeling extremely inspired to try my hand at crafting and making with green stuff more, and that’s because I’ve seen what incredible stuff you’re doing. Thanks for sharing this video! Loved the historical insight paired with the sculpting. Cheers
@@CraftandQuest Hey thanks so much for this comment and joining my Patreon. I am incredibly grateful to know that people find joy and inspiration in my work let alone want to support me. I will endeavour to make work that is meaningful and enjoyable.
@@ConjuredCraft of course! You’ve shown a great aptitude at making things and your Patreon is full of cool stuff. It’s an easy decision on my part!
Me seeing that Weta Workshop T-shirt 👀👀👀
You're not gonna believe where I used to work.
Hey as a wood worker just want to say. I don’t know if you finished the screen with shellac and polyurethane but if you didn’t would be well worth the $20 something dollars the shellac will make the grain and figure pop and the clear ploy will protect against moisture. You did a good job 👍 love the color of that stain too!
I did go back and finish it afterwards 😁 thank you!
I love it. Simple and effective.
Doesn’t need to be anything more than that
Good job on your project. Dm screen lcd screen user here. I use it with improved initiative and obs so i can have digital handouts or scene images and let the players see which creatures have been damaged.
Let me guess, they still don't know what they want to do on their turn? 😂
My granddaughter made me a 4 piece magnetic DM Screen in highschool shop class - before Matt Mercer got his from Wyrmwood. 😮😊
Magnetic DM screens before they were cool!
Thanks
Thank you!
would be great to see custom tokens (panic, smoke.. etc) for turnip28
Maybe one day
Very cool. Great idea well executed. 😁👍🏼
I love it when a plan comes together
Another source for similar material to the box lid is wooden "canvases". Buy two, cut one in half slap on some hinges and a latch.
@@pyrix137 Yes! These are also at my local art supply shop. If I run out of crates I've already marked them as a backup.
Every dm ever: ive planned for everything they could possibly do Ebery dm 5 minutes in: WTF?!?!
Planning is for fools
I love seeing what you make from cast off materials. Every time I'm like oh i never would've thought to do that
It's my party trick
Okay.... I have to compliment you on the video (itself)!!! This is well presented! A quick intro with a joke, and then, right into what you're doing.- BRAVO!!! So many channels, after a long intro of B-roll and their logo, then do a 2-5 minute explanation (and even longer) of what they're going to do in the video, and then, finally after 5-10 minutes of nonsense, repeat it again, while they're doing whatever they're crafting, OR... have obnoxious music blaring over the entire footage... WHY?! NO!- I don't want to flip back and forth with the mute button, but I will hit the "next video" button! And THANK YOU for no "rage bait"!!! - SUBSCRIBED and that's saying something from me! Most of the YT crafting and D&D material channels are a "click by provocation committee" nonsense. Well done!!! And OBTW... Nice DM screen craft!!!
Thanks Mark!
This came out great! I think a simple but effective addition would be to paint the inside with some whiteboard paint. Or the contact paper sort. Then you have an easy way to add notes, track initiative order, etc.
Love an easy upgrade
@@ConjuredCraft Given how hard it can be to write at that angle, (really hurt my wrist one night, had trouble typing for a couple of days) I'd recommend some magnetic tape. A couple of stripes spaced apart for something flashcard size, and some of that aforementioned contact-adhesive whiteboard surface for reusability, *chef's kiss*. Depending on the quality of the tape, you might be able to get away with bull clips, or you might need some stronger magnets from Amazon.
Great suggestion! I don't know if I'll make many changes to this screen but I'll add it to the list.
Neat video
@@NicheCrafts lol
Too 5 cheat sheet notes you have written in your DM screen? GO!!! Mine - money, 10 silver = 1 gold. That’s it - what ever the cost and effect of health potions are - all conditions -all sizes of creatures -carry weight, passive perception, throw distance, dumb junk like that
1. Passive perception for players 2. Homebrew wild magic table 3. Brutal critical table ... That's really all I got 😅
Poor Herr Rictus... Just trying to bring a little order to The Distance and you come along and fire a jar of teeth into their head. Rude really... I suppose they did take your hand off, so all's fair in Lich and War.
Still one of the only D&D big bads to make me feel genuine real life fear.
@@ConjuredCraft Then, I believe, I did my job as DM correctly... give you something terrifying and unstoppable, then stand back and nod with pride with you endure the terror and stop it anyway.
Yes yes yes more box-adjacent projects please
We love a good box!
D&D is theater (and a conversation). You don't need a 3' wall to hide a couple of notes and dice rolls. Connect to your audience. Lose the screen, and come out of hiding.
What if I don't want my players to see my fan art of their characters while we're playing?
It's helps with suspense, a few rolls for no reason but make the players wonder. Easy to hang notes and such off 😊
@@juriaan13 I use metal dice so when they start going off on a tangent for too long they just hear "kachunk"
@ConjuredCraft it's the dm equivalent of spraying a cat with water
Why does it have to be a wall. Screens have other uses. I roll in the open but use the screen on the side for quick reference material. If a GM screen breaks the connection with your players it was a pretty tenuous connection to begin with.
For anyone knew to hobby terrain building, hit up your hardware store and you can get a roll of wire like this in meant for picture hanging. Dollar stores also are your bread and butter of random junk terrain. Dollar tree actually has an arts and crafts section that is really good
All good options for people who have them locally!
Looks great and I’m totally with you with feeling like an alchemist by having boxes and bottles of bits and bobs! Lovely video and inspired me to think about finally making a screen
Hey thanks so much, I hope you do. If you want to share it with me, please feel free to send photos!
That is a brilliant solution. Definitely going to look for some similar boxes.
Happy hunting
I suddenly feel like my starter set DM screen is lackluster....
Not at all, mine is just overcompensating
Step one: Go to your box of hero quest and take the DM screen from there. Step two: Use that DM screen.
Step Three: send me the rest
Another very inexpensive source for boxes of roughly this same size is cigar boxes. Some shops give them away, some sell them for a couple of dollars. Depending on the box you get actual wood, or a combination of very thick chipboard and wood. The burnt or stamped lettering can add a cool vibe and they often come with metal hinges and clasps. I've made everything from triptych shrines to mini apothecary cabinets out of them.
In four years of doing TH-cam this might be one of the best recommendations I've ever gotten 🫡
Came out awesome
Cheers!
What a lovely video, I love the solution you came up with! And it reminded me to do an updated DM screen soon ...
You have until September to get one done! I'll be around to inspect your work.
@@ConjuredCraft omg I’m so excited
I love the clean simplicity of this screen ❤😊❤
Quick, simple, and most importantly DONE. Thank you!
@@ConjuredCraft you are welcome 🤗 And definitely a good thing to be completed 😊😊😊
Oh I really like this. The screen I built a lifetime ago is solid wood and way too heavy. If a box comes into my life I may have to do this!
Yeah that was a big consideration for me, didn't want to lug around some 2x4's!
We came for the Conjurer, we stayed for the DM screen. Totally agree with what you said about the bells and whistles not making you a better DM. As always, you nailed it my amigo.
Thanks lads! Let's roll some dice soon
I love the simplicity of simple stained wood. Looks fantastic!
Yeah even I have to admit, it looks pretty good with stain.
really lovely screen Terran, glad to see the break didn't last long!
Thanks Trent! I'm really lucky that I got some support from the community with my new laptop 💜
I really like your points about theatre of the mind. I love me a good diorama/game set, but there is so far that your imagination can take you if you let it! (Oh, and the DM screen is pretty cool, too. :P)
There's probably a sweet spot between the two and I'm sure I'll find it in another decade or so, thank you!
@@ConjuredCraft OH! While I have your attention...you mentioned memorable rolls, or something like that, and I wanted to share my most memorable. The most memorable I've watched: Critical Role, one of Caduceus's final spells. (You know the one.) My personal favorite: rolling to use a fire wand against an undead dragon. That dragon took *damage*.
Love your insight on your channel
Thank you!
so clever :D

Much appreciated!
Unless you've moved again, and/or already have been - there's a Fred Aldous in Manchester that has a bunch of Modelling related stuff downstairs! Hobby Craft is also okay, there's also a decent store up North called West End Model Centre in Colne. Hope you're well!
I have moved flats again but I'm still in the city. Thanks for the tips!
The tank feels like a blend of interwar tanks, and proposed Nuclear/Lunar Warfare tanks and weapons from the 50s and 60s I love it so much! (5:51 Kinda Sci Fi but I’m not really sure. They are: SCP, Mystery Flesh Pit: National Park, D.O.R.F. RTS, All Eyes Turned Skywards, & C&C)
Thank you for sharing!
This is awesome!! I grew up going to Disneyland and The home of the Future was always an attraction that captured my imagination. You captured this theme amazingly and it's a great spin on the game 👍
