  • Emotions ask for radical change. The two options we have are 1) follow the change or 2) suppress your emotions.

    I heard a beautiful idea today from HealthyGamers channel, apparently while he was in residency he overheard someone say it; "Modern medicine is all about giving people relief from inconvenience" something to that effect... as in, people aren't looking for health. They're looking to continue their bad habits which caused them health trouble.

    You're doing the right thing: Getting out in to nature and feel connected to nature again.

    Definitely on the right track here. I think it's important to note that there is a pronounced disconnect between our culture (democratic) and our economy (capitalist). As we've seen time and time again, economics has been permitted to drive ouar culture for the sake of the profiteers not the people. Capitalism tells us that our only value is connected to our economic productivity therefore anything that detracts from that profit goal is undesirable. Speaking as a late diagnosed autistic person I'm very comfortable saying that capitalism hates authenticity because it forces companies to acknowledge the humanity rather than the utility of their human resources.

    I spend a lot of time thinking about this. Even if we had to forage for berries, eating them would be a totally different experience on a phenomenological level to how it is when we buy a punnet of fruit and just sit and eat it. Even the action of going to the shop to get food would be vastly different to how our brains would be working if we were going out to hunt or forage. There's no uncertainty in going to the shop, and we can just choose ANYTHING we want. It all just feels like my instincts and emotions are being constantly suppressed even by behaviours like this. But I can't do anything about any of that, it's just how society is. I feel so far disconnected from what feels like authentic experience for me as a human.

    I agree. We have to be in touch with our feelings. Society is all about comfort/luxury/material.. but if something doesn't feel right. It's not right. We can't hop in the car with a psycho just because they're driving a nice expensive car. Our instinct will tell us, it doesn't feel right...

      I do personally disagree with the point about society living from the mind versus the body though. I would describe it rather that society has encouraged living from the unconscious and the adopted, rather than the conscious/fully aware and the intentional. I think this is more about a type of consciousness rather than body/mind prioritization, since it is possible to be conscious or unconscious of the body, just as it is possible to be conscious or unconscious of the mind. maybe this is akin to a thing that people call "soul" although I very much dislike that word usually because of how easily corrupted it is but... I am talking about something more basic than the aspects of the physical body, not distinct or separate from them but like at a more simplex level.. like... the relational expression of the difference between up and down is much more simple than the relational expression of the difference between a forest and a atmospheric hydrological cycle.. maybe there is also a layer more similar to particle geometries within us where the "shapes" are literal and then express the nonliteral stories of "me" and "them"? I don't know exactly

    I agree with you the body has a mind and you have to listen to it when it gives you the warning signs when you are doing something God prohibits you from doing. The body usually warns us when we are in excess .ie. alcohol, drugs, etc etc. The body may shut down to protect itself or completely die if go beyond our limit of excess. So I agree, listen to the body because it has a mind of its own, and it's wiser than our mind in certain cases.

    Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
    To find ourselves me must embrace love, it is the great equalizer in our heart, body, and mind.

    You could always choose to simply observe the arising emotions - that way you don't empower them more by giving/feeding them more energy - then they are more likely to settle into quietude...

    • @improvetheworldnow
      @improvetheworldnow 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      this is just a disguise for suppressing emotions by changing personal values to prioritize comfort. what you're implying is not truly just observing the emotions, but evaluating them as essentially trivial to your emotional state. you can't exist without values. the pursuit of inner peace is just another name for individualistic hedonism. and I don't mean the pursuit of peace, I mean INNER peace as in feeling at peace regardless of context. everything that exists is real, don't dishonor it by discrediting it for the sake of comfort.
