    Looks easy.
    I personally would have filled the cooler through the hoses at the filter just before doing them up.

    I wish I knew about the flat cranking trick when I put on my cooler. I looked it up and found it but had already put on the cooler and didn't want to try at and have it not work and redline my engine dead cold with an empty cooler. Tried it later and was like, "oh fuck it does work."

  • @oof578

    I'm sure it's fine but I'd personally try to fabricate a metal bracket the cooler can be held on. That and maybe a drain plug for it.

    I have a question, how do you probably flush the oil from the oil cooler? 🙂

    • @chiranthanmr
      @chiranthanmr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know, you'll need to have some sort of a pump. That's a complexity you'll have to live with.

    • @jameskovacic4895

      Or just change your oil a little more regularly, also the amount held in the cooler will get mixed into the fresh you put in. I have a dual radiator/oil cooler which holds half a quart. Half a quart of 4000ish mile oil mixed with fresh is not going to hurt anything

    • @ronaldz333

    • @chasespeer251
      @chasespeer251 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you were really concerned about it, buy an extra quart. Drain something like a half a quart, top it off accordingly and let it run for a minute then do a proper oil change. Although oil cooler or not you'll never get 100% of the old oil out

    Quick question…I have an Injen Evolution air intake system installed on my 2016 Scion FR-S. Would installing an oil cooler interfere with the intake? I do NOT feature taking the intake out just to put this thing in, and I didn’t want to keep the stock intake any more.

    So if something moderately hits the plastic panel where the oil cooler is mounted, I have a risk of losing all the oil in a matter of seconds?

    • @FTspeed
      @FTspeed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You're going to have to hit something pretty significant. It is basically mounted in front of the ac condenser and radiator and sits level with the header and oil pan so if you hit something that's going to damage it, you'll have damage to a lot of things.

    How does a stand alone cooler compare to the coolant radiator/oil cooler unit?

    • @jameskovacic4895
      @jameskovacic4895 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The way I understand it, it is for usage case. I have the dual radiator/cooler and for a stock powered car that's more than plenty. Three 20min sessions at VIR in 97 degree ambient tempeture and my coolant temp stabilized around 220 and oil at 250. The standalone coolers as I understand it will outperform the dual on boosted applications. The dual cooler is more of a heat exchanger, it runs the oil lines around the coolant lines in the radiator to exchange the heat into the coolant, then uses the larger cooling capacity of the radiator to handle the extra heat being put into the coolant. Perfectly fine for a stock motor, on a 40 degree day I saw oil temps around 260-265 before I shut it down also at VIR before I had the dual cooler, so the dual cooler most certainly works. It just may not have the capacity for boosted applications.

    Can you prove us in tecnicaly by using this oil cooler can reduce the oil temperature?
    Can make this kit without parent spacer for reduce the space?

    • @ronaldz333
      @ronaldz333 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      99.9999% of 86 track cars have air to oil oilcooler. My car with hood vent hits 270f oil temp at the end of the session in 60f weather. With 19row cooler my temp barely touches 240f in 100+f weather.

    • @FTspeed
      @FTspeed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can check out the graph shown on the product page that compares the stock temps vs temps with the oil cooler installed. I'll also be keeping an eye on the temps during the next track day and will let everyone know how it does.
