    One piece of advice - bring the necessary tools to tighten down all the fittings (and stem) during your next track day. After installing this kit, I had a small leak that only presented itself once my oil hit track temps. Was an easy to fix, but I was glad I brought the tools I needed to tighten everything down after my first session and not lose any track time.

      Will certainly be bringing my an fitting wrench, thanks for the heads up!

    That is a nice adjustable wrench!

      It's definitely handy to have and helps to not mark up the AN fittings!

    This way you only prime oil filter. Thermostat is closed so no oil will reach the cooler and houses when you crank engine. When thermostat opens for the first time oil will go there and you will have oil pressure drop for a second or two.

    What tools will we need for this install?

    This feels like Déjà vu

      How so?

    How did you torque down the threaded adapter? I couldn’t fit any socket over it, there’s not enough clearance around to get the socket all the way down. I went out and bought new sockets but couldn’t find anything that fit.

    • @KevinVo
      @KevinVo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Either a thin walled socket or grind down a normal socket.

    Is there any way to top mount an oil cooler on the FRS

    • @KevinVo
      @KevinVo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can, you'll need a hood scoop or some way to direct air through it.

    So how does maintenance work now with the added oil cooler? do you still just change 5.7 quarts of oil every oil change? Do we need to dump out the oil in the cooler after a oil change for new oil? or is ok just to change 5.7 quarts and let it mix with the oil in the cooler? Planning on picking up a mishimoto oil cooler with therostatic plate, any thoughts?

    • @KevinVo
      @KevinVo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oil changes are exactly the same. The small amount of oil left in the oil cooler isn't going to have a detrimental effect on the engine as long as you change your oil within the recommended time intervals.

    Does the stock radiator manage track day engine temps ok or is that the next thing?

    • @KevinVo
      @KevinVo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The OEM radiator does an adequate job even during track days. It's not something I'm going to be upgrading until later on down the road where I'm eventually going to go forced induction.

      @@KevinVo yeah im going to switch to that later on my brz ts 2020. i dont track it yet just normal driving not even redline yet lol about 8k miles on it just day driving. next year hopefully track will be open so ill switch to 5-30 since ill be driving it hard at the track. oil cooler and ill tune it and thats all i need for my needs maybe a hks super charger later . speaking of oil, you plan on getting a better oil pan so the oil pick up will not slush around not sure if ft86 has some better oil pans for track use

    Can the perrin oil cooler reach behind the passenger side fog light? Also will this be adaptable to any turbo upgrade?

    • @KevinVo
      @KevinVo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The supplied lines aren't long enough to route through the passenger side, but you could always supply your own lines if needed.

    is there any reason that you didn't get the jackson racing dual radiator/oil cooler compare to this one? from the comments says you would upgrade the radiator in the future anyways?. I was just wondering since I was planning to get the JR dual rad/oil cooler and the jr supercharger and was wondering if both would work together without replacing stuff? or does the jr supercharger already have a oil cooler included? I'm still new to building cars so I'm a bit confused lol. thanks for answering in advance

    • @KevinVo
      @KevinVo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In my case I did it because it was an easy install and I didn't have to do much to get the car back out on the track. I do have plans on the future on installing the jackson racing dual rad/oil cooler setup though! Would definitely recommend it as it helps to save space and keep things simple.
