Love the speaker design vids.. Most people that haven't followed loudspeaker design don't know about these European brands (Seas, Scan Speak, peerless). These brands have been true state of the art for decades and used by many, many OEM's. Your hard work is much appreciated! Keep up the fight telling the audio truth!
I have been using that tweeter in my speakers for 12 years now, and I have replaced them both after one went strangely intermittent, although that was possibly a connection issue since nothing was wrong with the tweeters I took out, but I think they are close to the perfect dome tweeter for me. The midwoofer I have been using with them is the Tang Band W4-1720, in a small monitor speaker I call the "Neutrino"; they are extremely neutral but still extremely engaging, which is a rare pair of qualities in a speaker.
New to your channel.. The paper midbass type and metal tweeter pairing is essentially a classic British monitor circa early to mid 90’s.. (Edit: Spelling)
Welcome to The Social Club and thanks for watching! Gotta say I'm loving the pairing. The distortion being so low really is easy on the ears. Thanks for your comment!
I'm glad that I found your channel, I started learning about designing and building speakers about 2 years ago. I have built 3 different pairs and a nice portable Bluetooth speaker. But I haven't experimented with many drivers. I have used the Dayton reference paper cone woofer which I think sounds good. I have used the Dayton reference soft dome tweeter and after listening to what you said about it I'm ready to try something different . I'm getting ready to design a 3 way with a 10" driver and I might order the seas that you just used for the mid, and maybe even that tweeter. I enjoy the challenge of designing the crossover and doing the testing. But it's great to learn from someone who has been doing it longer with more experience like you and I am looking forward to more videos!
Nice! Thanks for watching and let me know how your 3-way speaker turns out. Did you see my video where I built the SEAS King RO4Y MKIII kit? Active 3 way with DSP correction and that big old 10" sub. Thanks for your comment!
@SocialClubSound yes, that was the first video I saw. That speaker looked awesome. I have been looking at the seas that you just used because I saw it on sale. I think that I am going to use it with the 22 mm seas that you just used. I already have a Dayton designer aluminum cone 10" woofer.
Thanks for subscribing! The cabinet is a pre-cut knock down cabinet from Parts Express. So the only thing you'll need to cut holes for is the woofer and tweeter (and maybe terminal cup if you don't use posts). I've updated the video description with a link for a PDF showing the driver placement on the front baffle. That should help clear up any questions but if you have other questions, just reach out and ask. Thanks! thesocialclub.studio/youtube_downloads/SEAS-H1455-H1283-Driver-Placement.pdf
Can you design a front ported d'appolito floorstander with these components? Would love to compare that to my Fyne F303s which are basically the same idea.
@SocialClubSound Design on paper would be nice but a build with video and results would be nicer. I am a floorstanding speaker guy and I miss a reasonable priced design that works and is front ported. I do have to add that I am in Europe so sourcing some materials is a bit more difficult as in: more vendors needed.
In my experience and preference, I don't believe you could have designed a better 2 way speaker in this component cost range, full stop. Great work! I am surprised a 'hard' dome tweeter doesn't reach fatiguing levels. The smaller size and crossover design helps with much of that potential I presume.
Wow! Thanks! I think the tweeter being so low distortion helps a lot with the fatigue factor. They've been great to listen on. Thank you for your comment!
Pretty similar indeed, but not identical. The SEAS has a heavier basket and magnet and can take a bit more power, but the cone looks very similar! Loving how these sound! Thanks for watching & commenting
When I was first getting into hi-fi in the '70s, I asked a rather well known engineer from the country music side, how to best hear what he intended. He told me to get a pair of JBL L100 and put them within 5ft. of my face, toed-in just so. . . I have never cared about source accuracy. All it has ever needed to do is be loud enough, and audibly low distortion, meaning. . .no rubbing voice coils or farting woofers and the awful noises that wasted surrounds makes. As long as the speakers are reasonable low distortion, are balanced across the freq ranges, my imagination will smooth over the rest. This design seems like it might would be better served as part of a 3-way. It needs some displacement for the lower end. The world is overrun with four and five inch bookshelf designs. We need more 8" thru 15" three-way designs, IMO.
Thanks for all the effort you put into your videos, great info.
I appreciate you watching! Thanks for watching and let me know what you might want to see in the future!
Really good work!
I like your combination of sound producer and having hifi knowledge. Then you really know how it should sound. Awesome!
Thanks a lot! Audio has been my passion for a long time and I'm lucky enough to make a career out of it. Thanks for watching!

Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I'm enjoying making these videos and building these speakers
Perfect amount of detail! Thanks for the great video!
Thank you! That's helpful feedback when I'm editing.
Great to see another video from you!
Cheers sir
Thank you! And thanks for watching!

Excellent! Yeah, loving how clean these tweeters play. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

Love to hear a pair for myself,I’ll send pick of my system

If I grab more woofers I could do that. Or do you mean just design it on paper?

Thanks for watching Anniee!
Would you consider to build this woofer in transmission line enclosure? That would be interesting….. love your vids. I am new subscriber!
Possibly! I hadn't considered it but maybe I can get creative. thanks for watching!
That's a great idea.
Looks similar to the SB 13pfcr25-8

we want vedio for 3 way studio monitor have exeptional transient speed 🎉
Check out my video for SEAS King RO4Y MKIII speakers

Fair point. I was trying to keep the budget under $500. And these do easily pair with subs. Thanks for commenting
