I also have a ´04 green ZX10R, also purchased new in June , actually 137.800Km, never valve adjustment, sparks plugs changed at 122.000, and seller gave me CR8EIA -9, a grade lower, last day changed to the correct 9 grade. Mobil 1 5W50 used, first Rally Formula, then Peak Life and now there is another model. No oil consumption, but 5 gear is damaged, when apply a bit of gas it goes out.
@GTA VICE KITTY 27K, as new!!!!! In 2007 I was working for MRW shipping bike, with my Zx10R, I worked only 3 months, almost 21K in that 3 month, yes, near 7K/month, some days I did 500Km. Previous bike was a ´92 ZXR750 100Hp, called here at Spain "The Telefónica", by his colours green, white and blue, I sell it wiith 145K, at 135K changed conrod bearings, I used very bad oil, a mineral 20W50, changed every 5000Km. Now since new in the ZX10R I used Mobil 1 synthetic 5W50, first was Rally Formula, later Peak Life and now is another name, changed every 10K, oil filter 20K and air filter 30K, no more, today 143.985Km, brake rtotors are the original ones, the 3, right front has a bad movement , the washers have clearance. I´m 52, but 13 in mind (or less) always gasoline and Diesel in my blood. Regards from Madrid, hope understand my "spanglish".

The 04 is the beast......this is a bike that makes your asshole squeak every time you do something stupid. A real mean machine, before all those pussy gadgets were added to bikes now days.....like abs, traction control etc....you are in total control. Not for the newbs. Lots have tried..unsuccessfully.
I remmeber when I brought my zx10r 2004, first thing I did was put a power commander, carbon exhaust n got a sports air filter n got it dyno... it had 196hp at the crank and let's say it was F!@#$$ WILD to ride 😜

I have same bike ecu flashed and new bikes can't believe how I pull with this thing. For them to past me they gotta do speeds of death lol.
Dude don't sell your bike. You may not realize it but you got a gem. Get a new bike? sure. But hang on to this bike im assuming its paid for and you can build it up and have a better bike than most people on the road. Put some bpf on the front a better swing arm and rear suspension. Better brakes and lines improved valve springs cams and vstacks. You would have the ultimate bike.. Besides you are not gonna get what that bike is actually worth and will regret selling it.
04 zx10R aka "the widow maker" hard to find one that hasn't been integrated into a stationary object.
It's sad. I bought a mint 2005 with 8100 miles in August. It's an amazing and insane bike, and I'm not riding it more than around 500 miles each summer.
I just bought one to use everyday. 9000 miles on it an 05. Great bike. Feels like a race bike
It's a great bike and still competitive with more modern bikes.. How much did you get it for?

When the 2004 model came out i was in love with it i had the ZX9R 01 at the time. But I still love the 04-08 ZX10R want one so bad
2004 and 2005 are the same.
2006 and 2007 are the same.
The first being lighter and have more low down power.
The newer have big ass cat and stuff like that.
2004 2005 last of the pure. No electronics. So light.

This claimed horsepower is at the wheel. You're getting the crank and wheel horsepower mixed-up.
You can hit 104 mph in first gear (I've heard). I haven't tried. Lol.
I have an 05 and I came close I've done 88 in first but it felt funny so I shifted lol
i have a 04 and yes i can confirm all o4s are capable of 100mph in first with regular gear ratio
Yes... 104mph is spot on at 12,750rpm's and SHIFT!!!!!!
You know what you want. If you can afford it then do it. It is outdated not in terms in engine performance i.m.o but yea all the things you listed are relevant. If you can hold onto even better because it is a gem. So many upgrades you can do to improve performance and so customizable. Or leave it stock until it really becomes valuable in terms of collectability. It is a piece of history when Japan was doing groundbreaking performance available to the public like never seen before. The newer bike is gonna have all those electronics that you may really love. Personally i can do without. My S1000RR i barely touch any of that stuff. I have love for everyone on 2 wheels! Some people like it some people dont.
I guess most benefit from it.
The WSB teams back in the day put damper on it. And I guess they knew what they were doing ;-)
