I have been riding for 53 years now and the one thing I have learned and would pass on to any new rider is. "When you get on your bike think that you are invisible to other road users" They will kill you and say "I didn't see him"
Congratulations mate! - one bit of advice I got when I passed “ride your own ride”. Don’t get sucked into trying to keep up with people etc.. that’s how you land in the shit. Enjoy!!
@@simon2kninethe advice my old man gave me was, if you find yourself coming into a bend too fast - let off the throttle and lean the bike down like your life depends on it! 😅
I was knocked off my bike a couple of years ago by a careless car driver. I was quite seriously injured with several broken bones. It was near a well known bikers spot so many bikers rode past while I waited for an ambulance. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM stopped to see if I was OK. It really helped keep my spirits up. It's like a family.
Enjoyed that pal, I’ve had my full license nearly 2 years now and I’m 39 this year. Everyone said I was stupid for doing it late but you’re never too old! I’ve almost lost interest in cars now, I’ve got a 500bhp S4 that I thought was fast, until I got my Tuono 1100 V4 factory 😬 Once your on a big superbike it’s like nothing you’ll have ever experienced on 4 wheels!
Late?, too old?, 39? hahaha i got my licence at 61, and i used to hear the word's 'mid life crisis' a lot, so i said i hope im only half way through my life, but i've always been adventurous and open to new things, and now when m8's and family are still doing what they have always done, i'm off touring or 200mile day trips. i upgraded to a 750 hornet, like u say you have to experience it yourself to know. @tedere I actually find it ok but it is a bit of a handful as it's got no electronics. Worst thing for me though is the brakes they are no good even after being rebuilt haha.
Thank you. I'm 70 and tomorrow I do my CBT closely followed like yourself by a Direct Access course. Sod the cost, whats the point when you're retired in sitting in a high backed chair listening to Classic FM. I want to meet my maker while hurtling down a German Autobahn or while driving down to the sunshine in the South of France. This video made me feel really good about it all, you were so upbeat and positive. People tell me that I'm not young anymore and its too dangerous. Sod them. Thank you again.
Did the CBT. No problems but I think its best to get fit if you are to follow up with a DAS course. I had serious cramp halfway through and the following day I could hardly walk. It doesn't help if you have heart failure and other co-morbidities. Next is DAS after I get a fitter, should take a few weeks.. My goal is to hurtle down to South of France, or Spain, or Germany. And if I don't make the return journey I'll be happy.

Well done bro! I started mine, but after passing the theory and completing the cbt, I got t-boned whilst driving and couldn't physically ride or manoeuvre the bike without being in pain to continue. Good on you bruv. Passing my test was the best decision I've ever made. It's great we have a new member in our community. Ride safe and I may see you on the roads.
I loved taking my L plates off before riding home. I did the cbt on my own bike and the full licence on my own bike so that saved me some money. For the cbt my dad rode the bike there and mum dropped me off in the car.

Yes lad congrats. Welcome to the bike life. I passed my bike test back in 2012 before I did my car test. Love it. Enjoy it be safe. I'll be waiting for the wheelie videos 😭🤣💪🏻💪🏻
Insurance is mega surprising, I did the same thing I called up as I was on the way back from my test even though it was 15 years mine was £384 fully comp on a ZX6r. When they say when did you pass and you tell them 20 minutes ago you just expect it to be thousands.
When I did my CBT I believe it was £75. Seems that has somewhat inflated over the years! I decided I really couldn't be bothered doing it again, so I took my A2 (I think) with 4 days left on my CBT. Had to hold whatever category it was for 2 years, and then it automatically updated to A. I bought a 600 around this time and still have it today. Nice to have it there to fall back on just in case my cars are all down and I need a contingency plan.
Funny thing with the insurance. I rode a 125cc scooter for two years on my CBT. Then I did my A. I didn't actually consider riding a big bike. I just didn't see the point of doing my A1, so I did my A. The moment plans changed was when I started practicing for the hazard avoidance. The moment I opened the throttle on the ER6, I was hooked. There is nothing like that feeling. So I passed my A and bought an 89 GPX750R. I thought the insurance would cost a fortune. I was advised to go for multi bike insurance as I still use the scooter as my commuter. Stuck the GPX on third party, my insurance got cheaper! It was cheaper to insure two than one. 🤷
@@justblairthompson ohh, i am getting a 2003 vespa et4 black on friday its a little cheaper for £250 but yeah its as low as i can go only been riding 1 year
Absolutely brilliant video! From stressing about getting lost to the CBT to the nervous feels from the tests and the post excitement of passing all your tests! Such a real and accurate video. Once you get a taste of the bike life, your life changes 🏍️❤️

Well done mate welcome to the club 🎉 The feeling of freedom and exhilaration you get from bikes is super addictive. When the weathers good, you’re on a good bike on a nice road it’s just epic. Oh and get yourself to the IOM TT 💨
it's the best feeling passing your test.aged 34 having seen friends lose their life on bikes I think the category thing is sensible to an extent. go on track days it's safer. enjoy bud
Nice one. I had CBT's for 10 years before I finally did my tests in 2021. Its nice and simple really and then did my driving test last year and had a biker as my car tester so I think he went easy on me. I've stick with my trusty 125 until this week when I've gone and got a VFR1200. Glad to see you feel the biker community is more inclusive than the car guys because its something we don't talk about and most people don't realise until they get a bike 125's or big boy bikes you become part of a family (except maybe a few Harley and BMW riders that think there better than you still).
You're a great bit of inspiration mate! Im 28 and just booked my CBT in Dagenham and then I will try the full licence company that you picked soon after. Thanks for the bump in confidence, you make it seem less daunting!
I had a taxi pull out of a lay-by in Kettering town centre on me during my test in 2018. I swerved to avoid it and my reaction obviously went down with the examiner who told me not to worry and it wasn’t my fault. He went ballistic at the taxi driver though.
Good to see you've come over to the 2 wheel side pal. Once you experience genuinely fast bikes & the little money you spend to get sub 4secs acceleration. A car can't come close to that in £ for performance. Easist way to describe it. Car is about getting to where-ever you want to go, experience whatever it is, then go home. Motorcycles are about the ride to the spot & the ride back. The actual spot itself isn't of the biggest importance. Sure theres some nice places like squires, lotherton hall etc. But they are all about the local roads around that spot.
Congrats, I was shocked how different they train you, and they just want you to get up to the speed limit etc no hanging around where as car driving they want you to drag out and take all day To get up to speed etc. I loved my training week. Great fun it didn’t feel like a training week really just fun out on the bikes and visiting cafes etc 😂 I remember one time racing off the lights and briefly seeing triple figures and my instructor was still way ahead 😂
Had my full bike licence since 17, none of the many tests back when I did mine just a cbt that lasted 2 years and let you ride a 125 then you took your full test any time within the 2 years the cbt covered, 2 tests (1 test really as no one failed the cbt) and you could jump on any cc bike you wanted. Had my licence too many years too remember now (nearly 40 yrs) I can understand the safety reasons but its way too many tests now to get a full unlimited cc licence, if I had to pass all the different tests I think it would put me off not to mention the cost. Happy biking Lee welcome to the thrill of biking and the car drivers that dont see you ,stay safe and have fun mate
No CBT or theory when I did my test, 50 years ago. 250cc on L-plates at 16, then one part driving test, where examiner observed on foot, then unlimited. Total cost £3.50, if I remember rightly.
Hey Lee, we did this about the same time! Did mine in Northampton after putting it off for 25 years! I passed too, did the CBT and DAS with Karmenz in Northampton and likewise they were nothing but helpful and informative, so if anyone is in my area, they are a great place to go. Am enjoying getting out and about, I went the Cruiser route with a 20 year old XVS-650. My partner was eager to jump on the back so we have been doing some very short trips with her on the back too, slowly building up ready to do something longer in the summer 😀 Look forward to seeing you out and about 😀
Congratulations bro. Currently doing my bike licence. Just the mod 2 left to do. Brought a mt09 sp as my first big bike. Always been into cars. But now i totally get why so many people do there bike licence. Its so much fun.
after a lifetime cycling and 42 years driving a car with just occasional motorbike rental on holidays, i decided at 60 to go for a full bike licence. I took a year to learn as properly as i could on my 125 covering 10k miles (no commuting) before doing my DAS, and passing the test felt fantastic. as much as i ride for the pleasure of it and ain't too much of a speedster, i could have stuck with the 125, but i decided to buy a big boys bike, as it gives that added dimension when you want it. Overall with fee's & lessons it cost me about £1100 to pass, as i failed my mod1 first time and took extra lessons as well, but it's money really well spent. you seemed to pretty much sail through it all, WD, but i found that even with all my road experience, i didn't know what i didn't know about motorcycling, and taking the extra time was right for me. GL
I always wanted to go into motorbikes and get my A license, however, in the UK the rate that motorbikes are getting stolen is crazy... I think that's the major downside on top of the weather.
Lee you absolute beast, I just got my CBT done and riding around on a XSR125. You went full send and got the DAS done straight away 😂😂😂 im so happy for you mate
cant wait for the bike vlogs, also, now that your down south, and getting into bikes, I wanted to mention the 1066 MAYDAY run. massive bike event, 1st monday of every may. It is a great day. Honestly, you should look into it, 10's of thousands of bikes take over Hastings
Always been a car guy. But always wanted to get a bike. Two years ago passed my bike test. Got a street triple r as my 1st bike then added a zzr1400 and a gsxr 750 after a year. Now selling most of my cars only do track days on the bike. I sure you will not stop at one bike. Looking forward to more bike content.
Bit of advice for anyone going through the comments and is looking to ride: Don't exclusively do the motorbike theory test on the government website because the questions don't change, if you keep repeatedly doing the mock tests on the gov website, you're only learning those specific questions whereas when it comes to doing you theory test, you'll be asked loads of different questions So, do the gov theory test BUT also do theory tests on third party apps/websites so you get a variety of questions Hope this helps :)
Congratulations bud, passed my full licence with Bikes in Motion this March too (I'm 42) they are great guys aren't they! Also have a Kawasaki! Enjoy my friend and stay safe out there!
This is really interesting as an Irishman. I had assumed we had the same system for IBT (Thats what we call the CBT) but its not the same at all. We have to first do a theory test, regardless of A1, A2 or A. Then you do the IBT which is a 3 day procedure. Day 1 is classroom based, Day 2 is slow maneuvers and learning how to stop and start, gears, etc, Day 3 is where you go out on the road and do all that for about 6 hours. After the IBT, you get a cert and then you can ride around on what your license permits (obviously). Then whenever you feel ready, you book your practical test and hope for the best. We also have the progressive access but it's basically like the IBT except its only one day and essentially impossible to fail, and then you get your new license. However, you can only use the progressive once. For example, if you started and passed on A1, then you can progressive access to A2. But after that, you have to do the entire IBT process and practical test if you want to go up to the full A. I started on A2 soI thankfully will be able to get to A without having to do another test.
I'm 32 now I did mu full licence in my 17th birthday and was riding my 600 bandit the very same day I passed then 2 weeks after my 17th birthday I brought a GSXR 600 I was the fastest kid about haha, well done Lee congratulations 🎊 roll on summer !!

Till you've owned a big bike. You can't really explain to non bikers how good it actually is. Every weekend I wake up thinking "it best be sunny this weekend so I can go tear up some b roads with the lads" Congrats on passing. Stay shiny side up. 👍🏻
Congratulations, it looks awesome and I can feel that sense of excitement and freedom that the bike gives. Been on the back of bikes before, and I agree that there is a different community, that the car community could learn from... my biggest hurdle is getting my wife on board with me getting my license / bike. Enjoy :)
Done mine when I was 42….any younger and I’d be dead after week. Some people mature slower than others 😂🤣 @42 I waited 6 months before trying to wheelie, if I was 24 it would of been 6 hours max 🤣 stay safe
Few bits wrong. DAS refers to going from a cbt to a full license in one course. You will normally only see it refer to someone over 24 going from no cbt to a full license. Second bit. The A1 whilst being a full test still limits you to a 125 so you get the same performance as just being on a cbt. So most young dedicated riders will skip it. CBT > A2 > A

So I passed my A and bought an 89 GPX750R. I thought the insurance would cost a fortune. I was advised to go for multi bike insurance as I still use the scooter as my commuter. Stuck the GPX on third party, my insurance got cheaper! It was cheaper to insure two than one. 🤷
im 21 on a 125 paying £300 a month xd
@@GenerateGodx yes, that is expensive. I'm 50 with a full NCB.
@@justblairthompson NCB?
@@GenerateGodx No claims bonus
@@justblairthompson ohh, i am getting a 2003 vespa et4 black on friday its a little cheaper for £250 but yeah its as low as i can go only been riding 1 year
Absolutely brilliant video!
From stressing about getting lost to the CBT to the nervous feels from the tests and the post excitement of passing all your tests!
Such a real and accurate video.
Once you get a taste of the bike life, your life changes 🏍️❤️
Class mate. I’ve just done my CBT yesterday at the grand old age of 35! Theory booked this week then DAS/A starting in few weeks when back off holiday! Good to see the journey!
just say where and when i will be there and welcome to the club pal you will have a hole new outlook on life riding bikes stay safe keep shinny side up
Congratulations bro , getting your full bike license . Welcome to the biking community , and happy biking 🤟🤟👍
Superb, congratulations. Myself and my brother are gonna go and do our bike licence together. Can't wait, your enthusiasm is contagious. Some lad, on yerself.
Well done mate welcome to the club 🎉
The feeling of freedom and exhilaration you get from bikes is super addictive.
Super happy for you.. Congratulations
Congrats, I was shocked how different they train you, and they just want you to get up to the speed limit etc no hanging around where as car driving they want you to drag out and take all day
To get up to speed etc. I loved my training week. Great fun it didn’t feel like a training week really just fun out on the bikes and visiting cafes etc 😂 I remember one time racing off the lights and briefly seeing triple figures and my instructor was still way ahead 😂
YESSS LEE LETS GOOOO!!
Now we can race 😉
Mad happy for u Lee!!! Another biker on the road is always a win. If you are ever up in Scotland on the bike gimme a shout
after a lifetime cycling and 42 years driving a car with just occasional motorbike rental on holidays, i decided at 60 to go for a full bike licence. GL
Well done mate. Best of both worlds now. Enjoy and be safe.
Bit of advice for anyone going through the comments and is looking to ride:
Don't exclusively do the motorbike theory test on the government website because the questions don't change, if you keep repeatedly doing the mock tests on the gov website, you're only learning those specific questions whereas when it comes to doing you theory test, you'll be asked loads of different questions
So, do the gov theory test BUT also do theory tests on third party apps/websites so you get a variety of questions
Hope this helps :)
Congratulations bud, passed my full licence with Bikes in Motion this March too (I'm 42) they are great guys aren't they! Also have a Kawasaki! Enjoy my friend and stay safe out there!
Well done look to see the next video
this was great to watch.. doing this all soon and was fantastic watching the process. well done dude
Congratulations bro
Enjoy bro be safe 🙏🏻
Nice one bro I'm really happy for you
I'm 32 now I did mu full licence in my 17th birthday and was riding my 600 bandit the very same day I passed then 2 weeks after my 17th birthday I brought a GSXR 600 I was the fastest kid about haha, well done Lee congratulations 🎊 roll on summer !!
Congratulations to you and welcome to the club, stay safe and enjoy the ride oh yeah and remember that every day you get home is another day you can ride 👍🏻😉
Been said already but I’ll say it again! Ride your own ride, enjoy the journey and appreciate the moment, you’ll never not have a smile on your face! Enjoy Lee and welcome to the bike community
Welcome to Two Wheels Lee. Please bring your enthusiasm to Wales this summer, you'll love it!
You never stop learning Lee. I'd recommend getting yourself on an advanced riding course to further your skills
Your planning was top drawer. Well done again Lee. Phil, Bikes in Motion.
Get yourself to the Isle of Man TT mate! If you haven’t heard it look it up! I’d be happy to show you around 🇮🇲
Had my license 10 years I always make sure I make eye contact with drivers pulling out. Watch your braking in the wet and counter steering is your friend 👍😊
First video I've come across on your channel Lee! Congratulations on the pass and welcome to the community! Stay stay on the roads - Keep revvin' hustler 💎🏆
been contemplating doing my CBT for a few months now.. this is defo a sign to fucking do it! congrats mate
Till you've owned a big bike. You can't really explain to non bikers how good it actually is.
Every weekend I wake up thinking "it best be sunny this weekend so I can go tear up some b roads with the lads"
Congrats on passing. Stay shiny side up. 👍🏻
Congratulations Lee I done my training with bikes in motion back in 2011 brilliant training school Dave and Tracy the owners 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Congratulations, it looks awesome and I can feel that sense of excitement and freedom that the bike gives. Been on the back of bikes before, and I agree that there is a different community, that the car community could learn from... my biggest hurdle is getting my wife on board with me getting my license / bike. Enjoy :)
Well done mate stay safe Lee
Congratulations welcome to the community 🤙🤘 ride safe
Done mine when I was 42….any younger and I’d be dead after week. Some people mature slower than others 😂🤣 @42 I waited 6 months before trying to wheelie, if I was 24 it would of been 6 hours max 🤣 stay safe
Fantastic to see it back on the road :) congratulations on the test.
Great video! Something I’ve wanted to see for ages - the process of getting a full licence. Thanks 👍🏻
