    My Goldwing manual said to close the choke as soon as the bike starts. I always try to avoid revving the engine up until its warmed up a bit. I like this bike. Some people think it looks like a scooter but for me it looks streamlined and easy to clean. It would be a nice small Goldwing for those who dont need the extra size and weight.

      When know-it-alls say "It looks like a scooter" get used to coming back with "Uhh far from it. A scooter don't have a 800cc V-Twin engine with hydraulic valves" !!!!

    Thanx for the closeups. I just bought one unseen that I plan to paint and do some detail work on. Your video gave me alot of ides and answers to my questions instead of spending hours zooming on pictures. :D

    I have a 1996 and a throttlemeister but really jealous of the additional comforts you have up top (and the the driving lights because I really think normal and hi beam are both lacking in opposite ways on stock headlight). I can't believe you ever sold it I hope you got a pretty penny.

    I didn't know they made the PC in 96'! I had a candy red 1991 everyone thought it was a scooter! Too bad it died in 93' a flatbed 18 wheeler semi truck ate it, almost ate me with it! I do remember it could hold two cases of beer in the trunk! I didn't learn my lesson so after i healed a year later i bought a 1993 CBR900RR black
    ed\grey one! I still have the CBR and it only has 6800 miles on it! :)

    I have a model 89 and although it has small aesthetic details, nobody can believe that it is 33 years old.

    Look great besides all that plastic will keep your legs from burning in the summer time. Use synthetic oil and avoid high engine revs till warmed up you engine will thank you. You alternator should put out 13.6 to keep the battery charged you might want to check it.

    • @racer774
      @racer774 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Synthetic oil is great but not if you have a wet clutch, high performance motorcycle. It will begin to slip much sooner than if you had used conventional 10W40 oil. If you never _push_ your engine hard while using the clutch at lower speeds, it may not affect your clutch much. - Moving along to your alternator voltage output, if the alternator and voltage regulator are working properly, you will see a considerable drop in voltage (as much as 2 volts) while the engine is at idle and you place a load on the electrical system. The addition of the two driving lamps he installed are likely too much for the stock charging system to handle for long periods. Additionally, ambient temperature affects alternator output as well. Colder = higher output, warmer = lower output.
      The MIT team involved with a charging system project stated 14.4 volts is the optimum level in which to charge a 12 volt battery, even though I have never had battery failure at 13.2 to 13.8. Here is the MIT vlog. Look down a few paragraphs for the info if you wish. -- alumni.media.mit.edu/~nathan/nepal/ghatta/alternator.html

      @@racer774 HI. I just bought an 89 PC800. Immaculate original cond with 28k. Please advise the safest alternative to upgrading the light from stock light w/out overloading the electrical system. I'm told the stators die in these a lot if not careful.

    I know it's been a while since you posted this video, but you seem to be pretty knowledgeable about this bike. I just recently bought one and I can't seem to get the brake lights to come on. Neither one turns on when the foot brake or brake lever is depressed. Do you have any ideas as to what it could be?
    Thanks in advance!

    I have a 1995 all black and I thought it looked good but yours with that red shine has no competitition! I noticed your choke works good, mine won't remain on top when I pull it out, I have cruise control so I use the lever to hold up the speed but I wish I could figure out whats wrong with my choke.

    Very nice presentation of your PC800. I just found out about this model from an article on Ugly Bikes. It is listed as one of the ugliest bikes ever produced (the author's opinion!!) I actually like the looks a lot. You did a great job of showing the bike. Would have liked to see you open the trunk. Great job! God bless!! Michael

      No one who rides this bike doesn't like it. Supremely comfy, and handles very well. I take mine out on the twisties all the time. I actually like the exhaust note, too. As far as looks go, people forget that it was introduced during the Lego period of moto design in the late '80s. It is supremely well designed for its ultimate use. Handling is like a large Mercedes... you expect it to be mushy, given its weight, but it's not. More hydraulic in feel than mechanical. Goes where you point it.

      I’m not sure what that would be. I made a video on how to change the spark plugs, and another one on replacing some parts in the fuel system. Good luck! Once you get these issues sorted out I think you’ll enjoy the PC.

    I'm looking at a 94 model. Even though it fired right up after winter storage, it sounded rougher at idle with no choke on. I noticed condensation out of the pipe out about a foot from the tip. Normal?

    • @altimer
      @altimer 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matt Young i have a 1997 pc and don't even touch the choke! Isn't good to use for that long. I also have an 86 VFR 700 that I turn the choke down almost immediately after it starts if I use it at all

    • @PC800Fixes
      @PC800Fixes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As I remember, the choke had to be left on for 20-30 seconds or the engine would die.

      PC800Fixes no. Less choke -> less RPM. You have much space down to idle rpm when you are at 3000. The poor engine!!!!!

      Terible start. You allmost demaging your COLD engine by running 3000 rpm. Oil is too cold for such rpm.

    When you're doing "on.. off - switch" what is that?

    • @PC800Fixes
      @PC800Fixes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A switch that controlled the 2 little lights on the front, below the fairing. It always put a strain on the electrical system, so I rarely used them.
      In fact, I had trouble getting it inspected once. The guy told me they were illegal!

      Yeah I’m reading all the concerned comments on here about the choke. I think I just forgot about it. Usually 20-30 seconds would be about all it would need.

    Your VOLT tach isn't good. Well I'm motorbike meca. I can tell you that it should be at 14V when you turn gaz on, and should be aroune 12V all the time. I can tell you that a morobike or a car don't have enought electricity to start if the battery got only 11V... here, your indicator isn't working good. About 10V ? impossible! you couldn't start.
