  • Tis the season for a Winter MAKE OFF. This year our Christmas Elves have gone head to head in a competition to create the ultimate winter projects. This video shows how each of the team approached their second projects in this series, from where they found their inspiration to the features and tools they used to bring it to life.
Is that sleigh bells you hear, not exactly. That's the sound of our Vectrician's sharing their top tips for getting the most out of your CNC machine this holiday season. Watch the competition unfold as the team have two days to create an advanced winter project. You’ll see them live designing, machining and problem-solving to make sure their projects are finished within the time limit. Let us know in the comments which of the 3 projects is your favorite.
    Happy Making!

Guys you are the best. I really, really loved all your projects and it show that you all had a blast making them. But I must admit I particularly loved Beki creation, it reminded me of the 30 or so Christmas ornament I made over the past years and I hope to have 48 different design for the next season of Christmas fairs. Thank you so much and merry Christmas to all.

I love all your projects and what creativity! I especially loved the mailbox because of the connection to your dad and daughter. Memories of Christmases past and the continuance of traditions is what makes this a very special time of year! Merry Christmas to the entire Vectric team!

When Kerfing, use a steamer or steam machine on the wood after kerfing and before glue up. It makes the wood pliable and tends to hold the bend after drying.

That's a top tip right there! Thank you we'll give that a go for sure!

Never done it but Ì have been thinking of water soak although few plywoods are marine rated. I was told aircraft plywood although nearly impossible to find, seems fit for purpose.

@@sylvainforget2174 I've done it with regular plywood from Lowe's, the kerf depth is important for a great bend. We found that just using a harbor freight steamer worked great. The grain will raise after steaming but the layers stay intact. After gluing, just sand, knock out the raised grain and it smoothes out beautifully.

Hello Steve... thanks for the question. That is a very old Wacom Cintiq 24 Touch Screen Tablet. That version is not aviable anymore from them... but they do have newer versions. Our software works with may different touch screen tablets, not just Wacom.

As they've said, Vectric software works with a variety of displays, including the Huion 24 inch pen display I have. It's cost effective and works as well as my old Cintiq without the cost of entry to Wacom's new displays.

Make your kerf slots closer and you won’t see all the flats spots either, it makes for a smoother bend

Hey Brandon... thanks for that. I suspect there is a lot more I need to try... fist time... it was OK. :)

I would like to see what they are doing while they design and build not look at them just talking, I want to learn not listen to them just standing talking about what they are going to do!
