My reactions to the T598 were rather similar to yours‘. I had an entry through someone who booked 6 slots at a time. No time for questions, no adjustments, don’t finish the lap after 10 minutes stint… I drove the Rallye (which everyone wonders why they chose this) and Hungaroring on ACC with a different rim. The base looks bulky, the wheel feels cheap, the pedals are soft. No T DFB. The quick release is good. The feedback on ACC felt better, but the settings were unadjusted and showed clipping. The trick my mind played me: I compared it to the TGT. But the T-GT was set at a higher price point. It is more a successor to the T300 in the market I would imagine… The 5 nm GT DD Pro looks nicer for the wheelbase, but feels choked in the feedback and the rim is also a toy. It seems btw that the TGT wheel will not work with the rotary encoders on the T598 due to licensing issues…

Yeah. I found the people there very unhelpful apart from the guy at reception. He was kind. I didn't even have a choice between rallye and ACC. I understand that it's a lower price-point but you also have to keep in mind the competition (and dropping prices) THEN when the TGT launched and the competition now. So yeah in my head it is more a successor to the TGT than the T300 which I would more see the T248 as successor. I really have a lot of mixed feelings about the T598. And that the TGT wheel won't work will not fall well with TGT owners wanting to go DD. Not that I would consider this that much of a step up anyways for what I have seen of the T598 🫤

I was obviously on the lucky side with Rory reserving the slot.
My message sounds very harsh. I do think they have a good product. They will bring a loadcell and more rims. It will be pretty good besides the bulky look. All the more fancy displays? Who has the time to look at them? I am occupied staying on track.
And they will probably be distributing everywhere. Much easier for many customers.

Oh but the display, while I mentioned it, it doesnt bother me either because like you say, we hardly look at them. but I don't know, the proportions of it combined with the entire black design and the plastic.... it made me want to cry. they if you toss a decent rim on it, it will be already quite a difference and for sure, just like the T300, it will sell well all over the globe without doubt

I went to ADAC as well, at least TM was the only booth where there was no 30mins waiting queue with their booking system, and I did not have to play in front of dozens of people watching. It was a different experience and I liked it tbh.

Thanks again for reviewing some of the lower end equipment. Not all off us want to spend $10,000 on a set up to race video games. Some guys that went to ADAC only showed the expensive stuff.

Absolutely. I think, or hope, most of us don't want to spend 10k on a setup. That is why I especially am so hyped about the Trak Racer t40s and the Cammus range. Love those companies for having a "budget" mindset.

It will be a huge hit as fills a massive hole in the market ,well done Thrustmaster .ps I do fancy a Momo wheel for my Gpro ,they look great .

Btw as you went to the trouble of going to Dortmund and giving them your details I'm sure TM will send you your own unit to review in full .ps you should be ableto buy the wheelbase on its own as so many TM customers wil have their own wheels and T-clm pedals

I doubt it. I wrote different times already to Thrustmaster but they don't care about a channel with 3k subscribers. They don't even bother writing back. It should be sold separately indeed but it might take some time.

Great video, bud. I feel like TM and Logitech aren't really trying hard to stay in the sim racing scene. There are so much better options out there and better bang for buck. Maybe they are geared more for consoles but the PC market is booming with variety. Just my two cents on the matter.

For sure. The T598 is for PS. Like you say, on PC the competition is a killer and a base like this is only mediocre. But for console, specifically PS they are the cheapest DD and that will bring them in some cash
