Its great to see new software launching on ipad. Its coming even closer to being a literal all in one device for creatives. There are limitations obviously, and you showed a video in the past having it replace your computer, and it obviously would be challenging to do. But as new software keeps getting supported on ipad that window opens more and more.

So I higly recommend changing the input settings to turn on touch navigation. One of the downsides of zbrush was that navigating was clunky when you got close to your model. Touch navigation fixes that by making your fingers always navigation. Next comparing Zbrush to Nomad is like comparing apples to oranges. Yes they are both sculpting applications but that is kind of where the similarity ends. With zpsheres you could create a poseable sculpture. You just cannot do that on Nomad. Or live boolean operations, or the shear number of brushes available, Dynamics, etc. Nomad was nice but it's not a replacement for zbrush. likewise there are certain things zbrush can't do that Nomad can. being able to create geometry from orthographic sketches.

Wasn't a ZBrush user, but now will thanks to the video (subscribed after watching)! What I think this emphasizes, for the larger software community (looking at you, Adobe), is iPads are APPLE SILICON. So more developers need to use the processor power to make the IpadOS apps look/work more like desktop ones (e.g., Clip Studio).

For comparison: Blender 4.3 alpha 10-15 million polygons per object with a performance like zbrush with 60 million, you can do more, but it will be impossible to work. Nomad demo browser 6 - 8 million and with performance like zbrush with 60 million polygons, of course you can get a lot more polygons, but it won't work.

In terms of standard sculpting brushes I actually prefer how Nomad's brushes work and affect the mesh, I also prefer the nomad tube tool compared to the ZBrush curves brush despite the tube tool profile being somewhat limited compared to what the curves can do with like zips and lace patterns. Where ZBrush for iPad will really compliment artists' work flow will be if they add posing functions, that'd save me a hell of a lot of time as in nomad posing can really only be achieved by using the mask and gizmo tool. Definitely be interested to see all the brushes that are added, though I'll still use nomad as I'm super familiar with it but I'd like to alternate between the two with ZBrush being to finalise and polish off my sculpts.

My two cents; Digital sculpting is too complex for just a pen and touch interface and a 12" screen. If you're going to shell out the amount of cash that Maxon wants for a Zbrush subscription, you really need a desktop PC with a monitor that has plenty of room for menus and a full keyboard for all of your shortcuts. A full version of Zbrush on an iPad would be like trying to work on your car in your bedroom closet. Just not enough space. I've got the perpetual license for Zbrush, and I've got menus on both sides of the screen, shortcuts all along the bottom; and still, it takes a very long time to create something worthwhile. You're constantly diving in and out of various menus as your combining subtools, masking out shapes, and creating polygroups. Not having quick access to these deep features will mean you're taking a lot more time to do the same things. So Zbrush on the iPad will end up costing you more time rather than saving it.

People are making awesome sculpts in Nomad without a desktop, it;s more about the artist than the tool.

@@jammywesty91 If your goal is to work in the VFX industry (job prospects have been rough this year) zbrush on ipad will help a LITTLE towards learning zbrush on PC however if you have ipad+zbrush money on ipad you probably have a PC or mac capable of desktop zbrush, so I'd say learn THAT
however if your goal is to get good 3d models out for 3d printing for fun, games or other needs that are not VFX up-close filming, nomad is still a more flow-ey app that produces a better output, (specifically zbrush on any platform has zero support for painting and previewing metalness and roughness maps on model)
especially when combined with a good UV unwrapping app like Cozy Blanket you can make objects for games and 3d printing very effectively on nomad.
aboout as in-depth as I feel like getting in a youtube comment :)

It’s very evident that most of the people reviewing ZBrush for iPad haven’t used Nomad Sculpt. 3D artist have stated ZBrush has a long road to catch up with Nomad Sculpt. It’s naive and ignorant to state Nomad Sculpt is primitive just because “it’s not like ZBrush”. The “industry standard syndrome” is off the charts.
