Honestly, very pleasantly surprised by the interface here. It's still pretty dense because of the depth of the feature set, but it's organized so much better. It would set the art world on fire because people would have to spend an hour relearning the interface, but the desktop version could use a refresh like this.
I recently downloaded ZBrush for iPad. So glad to finally get to work with this program. Getting used to its free version. Sculptris & Blender have been my main source to sculpt my work with. I pretty sure I'm gonna have fun with this one! 😊
by the way, one interesting thing if you happen to have a magic keyboard is that you can also use the standard B shortcut for brushes and do most of the standard things that you would do to bring up your different brushes just like you do on desktop as well …….this totally needs 3-D mouse support though….. that would be amazing the little tiny Bluetooth version of the space mouse would be excellent with this - also a stream deck add-on if possible would take care of keyboard shortcuts like you wouldn’t believe.
I recon they'll introduce it as an optional UI for future desktop releases. Makes total business sense to on-board wave of people that will have the iPad app as their first experience of Z-Brush before checking out the desktop version.
@chloelewis5603 and probably increase sales for the Ipad. Lol. It's making me want to go out and buy an Ipad Pro M4. I also want it for Procreate though.
@@joescivic Well I'd highly recommend a second hand 2nd generation iPad Pro. I picked up an 11" model 64GB for £380. Sadly the Apple pencil is extra and is a must
@chloelewis5603 I'm going to probably order the 11-inch Ipad Pro with the M4 chip and 256GB along with the Apple pencil for it tomorrow....well, technically, it would be today. I bought a Wacomb Bamboo pen that actually isn't compatible with Ipads, but it works for my touch screen laptop. Now that I'm sure I want the Ipad, I figured I might as well return the pen.
Heeey appreciate this tutorial. I'm not a Zbrush pro but I'm a hobbyist so was waiting for a more advance tutorial like this for the IPad version. Bought the M4 Ipad for this. Nomad and Zbrush are running perfectly! Really loving this new era of portable 3D design.
For me ZBrush for iPad is a complementary option to the Desktop ZBrush. But Nomad Sculpt is way better for newbies and for people who only wants to create some 3D Character stuf
@@MemphisFitz-t2x You might be right, but price wise, it's a no brainer for beginners to buy Nomad first as a one off purchase and fall in love with 3D design before upping their game with a Z Brush subscription. The UI is still really good and I've no doubt Maxon did their fair share of research on it to help build this.
@@chloelewis5603 Zbrush has an entry level option that's free. And to be honest for any beginner the features are more than enough to not upgrade unless you are a pro. Nomad sculpt might be dead for any iPad users
I'm pretty dependent on ZModeler, all in due time, but all in all, this is a pretty great v1.0! Seeing Lucas Cuenca's dragon sculpt on iPad during their launch video was pretty remarkable. Now, I just need a new iPad Pro! Great video!
Hi is it possible to show a performance difference breakdown between zbrush on the latest ipad mini, ipad air, the entry level ipad pro, and the maxed out ipad pro? I'm curious as to if there is any real difference especially with an ipad pro with 8gb ram and 16gb ram
@FlippedNormals thanks for the tutorial, I think they ported it great...quick question do you think it's worth it for the 16GB RAM 1TB M4 ipad or the lower RAM would suffice. I don't need 92 million polys per mesh, just want a fluid experience. Thanks
I have both a 1TB M4 and my kid has a 512 M4. The 1TB can handle more polygons with zero impact to the brush strokes, the 512 chokes out sooner, but maybe not high enough to bother you. 512 started lagging at 45 mil, though very slightly. 1 TB was over 60mil and still didn’t see any impact to brush strokes
can you guys do a realtime video capture of the performance on camera, not streamed ? Would love to see how much lag there is on the max claimed polycount.
Hey, can you please tell me if there is any tool or add-on or anything that can help me split a model in equal parts .. i want to carve them in wood . but, before i do that, i need to split them in equal square parts .. if anyone can help me . would be much appreciate it
No Z modeler! I was waiting the whole video to see if it had ZModeler. If they get that in there eventually, that would be killer! Still it looks good, how does it feel vs Nomad...someone probably already asked this...I'll go look now.
Generally speaking, zbrush is not very ram intensive. Their way of faking 3D in the viewport has always been the key to zbrush having smoother operation at higher resolution than the competitors.
Will SOMEBODY offer a class in character and Creature design in ABrush for iPad??!!!! The UI is very different from the desktop version, and it gets realllly frustrating in the transition. IDO like the new Apple UI-very streamlined!!!
Tbh, I don't know who was asking for this. I've never been in a situation where I wanted do do serious sculpting on the go. They say it's a professional tool, but what company is gonna replace their artists desktops with ipads for this? You still need desktop computers for the entire rest of the pipeline
I dont think you're going to get production artists to switch, as it's also a security issue. Can't suddenly have AAA characters being made on the bus. But it opens up a whole new world for sculpting for fun. I've sculpted in Nomad (couldnt use ZB publicly yet because of beta) in museums and it's great. Or sculpting while on the couch, train etc.
Cool video... Sincerely better compressed information than the more than 4hs live streaming. I Hope only they don't change the desk UI... after 17 years of working and developing workspeed on the original Ui... Would be a very very hard change to any pro user with a long way on the tool
Now, we want this user interface for the PC version... enough of the horrible workflow. They obviously saw there were many things to change, and that's why this version is completely redone.

If i have a project with layers - do they simply get flattened when opening on the ipad?
Will you do beginner Zbrush ipad tutorials?
Probably will yep!
Comparison with nomad brush?
So far in my use Zbrush can handle astronomically more polygons with the M4 1TB iPad Pro. Tens of millions more.

I believe its the generation made from 2020 onwards - but this is recorded on a 2018 model. It needs to be the iPad pro though
Recommended specs are iPads with the m series chip. Specs are on the maxon site.

Yep! Ive used a custom brush I made on Desktop without issue
