Honestly, very pleasantly surprised by the interface here. It's still pretty dense because of the depth of the feature set, but it's organized so much better. It would set the art world on fire because people would have to spend an hour relearning the interface, but the desktop version could use a refresh like this.
I recently downloaded ZBrush for iPad. So glad to finally get to work with this program. Getting used to its free version. Sculptris & Blender have been my main source to sculpt my work with. I pretty sure I'm gonna have fun with this one! 😊
Heeey appreciate this tutorial. I'm not a Zbrush pro but I'm a hobbyist so was waiting for a more advance tutorial like this for the IPad version. Bought the M4 Ipad for this. Nomad and Zbrush are running perfectly! Really loving this new era of portable 3D design.
Glad it was helpful! Let us know how you find the ipad version
Same!
Man this is the video I'd been waiting for. Fantastic job.
For me ZBrush for iPad is a complementary option to the Desktop ZBrush. But Nomad Sculpt is way better for newbies and for people who only wants to create some 3D Character stuf
I disagree, i found Nomad to be much more complicated to navigate as a beginner than Zbrush PC and iPad
@@MemphisFitz-t2x You might be right, but price wise, it's a no brainer for beginners to buy Nomad first as a one off purchase and fall in love with 3D design before upping their game with a Z Brush subscription. The UI is still really good and I've no doubt Maxon did their fair share of research on it to help build this.
by the way, one interesting thing if you happen to have a magic keyboard is that you can also use the standard B shortcut for brushes and do most of the standard things that you would do to bring up your different brushes just like you do on desktop as well …….this totally needs 3-D mouse support though….. that would be amazing the little tiny Bluetooth version of the space mouse would be excellent with this - also a stream deck add-on if possible would take care of keyboard shortcuts like you wouldn’t believe.
Great explantion from the video! I wonder how do you turn on two blue cursor on Ipad while recording the video? Thank you!
I'm pretty dependent on ZModeler, all in due time, but all in all, this is a pretty great v1.0! Seeing Lucas Cuenca's dragon sculpt on iPad during their launch video was pretty remarkable. Now, I just need a new iPad Pro! Great video!
I hope the desktop version can have a UI like this.
I recon they'll introduce it as an optional UI for future desktop releases. Makes total business sense to on-board wave of people that will have the iPad app as their first experience of Z-Brush before checking out the desktop version.
@chloelewis5603 and probably increase sales for the Ipad. Lol. It's making me want to go out and buy an Ipad Pro M4. I also want it for Procreate though.
@@joescivic Well I'd highly recommend a second hand 2nd generation iPad Pro. I picked up an 11" model 64GB for £380. Sadly the Apple pencil is extra and is a must
@chloelewis5603 I'm going to probably order the 11-inch Ipad Pro with the M4 chip and 256GB along with the Apple pencil for it tomorrow....well, technically, it would be today. I bought a Wacomb Bamboo pen that actually isn't compatible with Ipads, but it works for my touch screen laptop. Now that I'm sure I want the Ipad, I figured I might as well return the pen.
These ipads better have a lot of RAM.
1TB
@@Surfacingdark that's hdd space
16 GB
@@crypt0w1tch 16 is OK if one doesn't go too crazy with the details.
Generally speaking, zbrush is not very ram intensive. Their way of faking 3D in the viewport has always been the key to zbrush having smoother operation at higher resolution than the competitors.
Missed you, Henning!
Missed you too!
The title is superb lol
Any idea if they are going to add in layers at some point for it? Surprised it's not in
@FlippedNormals
thanks for the tutorial, I think they ported it great...quick question do you think it's worth it for the 16GB RAM 1TB M4 ipad or the lower RAM would suffice. I don't need 92 million polys per mesh, just want a fluid experience. Thanks
I have both a 1TB M4 and my kid has a 512 M4. The 1TB can handle more polygons with zero impact to the brush strokes, the 512 chokes out sooner, but maybe not high enough to bother you. 512 started lagging at 45 mil, though very slightly. 1 TB was over 60mil and still didn’t see any impact to brush strokes
Can we customize hotkeys for this if we use a keyboard?
Awesome
No Z modeler! I was waiting the whole video to see if it had ZModeler. If they get that in there eventually, that would be killer! Still it looks good, how does it feel vs Nomad...someone probably already asked this...I'll go look now.
can you guys do a realtime video capture of the performance on camera, not streamed ? Would love to see how much lag there is on the max claimed polycount.
Thats not a bad idea actually
Comparison with nomad brush?
So far in my use Zbrush can handle astronomically more polygons with the M4 1TB iPad Pro. Tens of millions more.
Can you import photos for reference?
Will you do beginner Zbrush ipad tutorials?
Probably will yep!
If i have a project with layers - do they simply get flattened when opening on the ipad?
Can you export your files in free version? (in any format!)
Which ipads are supported i couldnt find anywhere
I believe its the generation made from 2020 onwards - but this is recorded on a 2018 model. It needs to be the iPad pro though
Recommended specs are iPads with the m series chip. Specs are on the maxon site.
I tried the free version on ipad 9th gen .. working fine
Not sure if you mentioned it but can you import brushes that you are used to from desktop? Like Orb brushes etc.
Yep! Ive used a custom brush I made on Desktop without issue
How are people using ref images with the iPad?
Linux version is right around the corner!.. Right?..
:(
they can do a new ui design for ios but for pc... let us have that 900 year old ui
Is this all keyboard supported?
why not talking about "zmodeler" ?...which is not there i guess...
Cool video... Sincerely better compressed information than the more than 4hs live streaming. I Hope only they don't change the desk UI... after 17 years of working and developing workspeed on the original Ui... Would be a very very hard change to any pro user with a long way on the tool
if there was a ui redesign u would easily adapt, zbrush ui is very likely the worst ui in any 3d software out there
Can you save/export ZTL to a perpetual versions (2022 or older)? I guess you can't.
Unfortunately not, you need to be on the newly released 2025 for that to work
@@FlippedNormals and what about export into .stl or obj?
@@franciscocataldo9238 You can export/import OBJ, but not many other formats
@@mooiijloup how??? or i gotta pay?
@@franciscocataldo9238 don’t know, it’s what I read on the documentation ^^
Why zbrush not working on ipad 10.5 pro ? 😞😞😞😞
Is there a way to load an imageplane/reference image in the background? Can’t seem to find it
Unfortunately not at this time. Only using the grid, but it's not ideal
Thanks for your answer! Doesn’t make sense at all, let’s hope it gets improved
❤❤❤❤
:D
hi, can i just connect a bluetooth keyboard and use zbrush hotkeys?
I think that should work yep!
@@FlippedNormals thanks 👍🏿
yes! I have the logitech case works perfect!
Tbh, I don't know who was asking for this. I've never been in a situation where I wanted do do serious sculpting on the go.
They say it's a professional tool, but what company is gonna replace their artists desktops with ipads for this? You still need desktop computers for the entire rest of the pipeline
I dont think you're going to get production artists to switch, as it's also a security issue. Can't suddenly have AAA characters being made on the bus. But it opens up a whole new world for sculpting for fun. I've sculpted in Nomad (couldnt use ZB publicly yet because of beta) in museums and it's great. Or sculpting while on the couch, train etc.
@@FlippedNormals fair point

Well that was fast lol
*blows smoke from gun*
Imagine if PC versions had Touch support >:(
UX/UI already blows normal Zbrush out of the water
is it free?
Yes
With less features
It is a disgrace not to have zmodler included, what a disappointment!!
Android?
IPad only unfortunately

Now, we want this user interface for the PC version... enough of the horrible workflow. They obviously saw there were many things to change, and that's why this version is completely redone.
Well also it is completely different devs compared to those who worked on Zbrush for PC
