You could comb your hair in the shine the concrete pads got. Love the humour Alex brings to the video and he does quite a bit about the job now describing what your doing. If I was lucky enough to win the lottery I would ask you pair to do the work on the new Bungalow plus others I follow joiners, plumbers, electrics etc as they all do the job as if it was for themselves. Looking forward to the next video.

    Nice job as always lads.
As you usually finish the concrete to ff height i was wondering if you ever feel the need to use one of those concrete floats on a boom so you can give it extra trowels as it firms up later on? Maybe on bigger floors.

  • @nigelsmith1198

Not allowed to use jablite in our area, build control hate it.!.! Pir only.! I was taught never to put wallties on dpc course.? Also cavity insulation to extend below floor level…. Must be different in your area.? Like the way you finish your slab though, beats a powerfloat.!

Nice setup work for the concrete. The concrete mix looks pretty wet...maybe a 6 slump? Long setup and cure time I'd expect. I'm still surprised you can get away without having to put steel mesh or rebar down on the pad... Nice finish work guys! Silly question, what grade/mix of concrete do you usually specify? Cheers from Texas!

Brilliant video chaps. I'll be doing basically the same for a project at the back of the garden this year - so seeing it all coming together and up to DPC was very handy and timely. Couple of questions...
Why do you use the jablite instead of PIR in the floor?
Also, at around the 11:15 mark where you lay the DPM on the sand, you have laid the big sheets of jablite 'inside/on top of' the DPM - but you have the upstands 'outside' the DPM and touching the blockwork. Is there a specific reason for this - or is this the standard way of doing it? I always thought that the DPM ran right to the blockwork and the upstands were fitted 'inside' the DPM.

    Great channel lads
Can you clear up a query for me please?
When doing an extension with a concrete/screed floor but the existing house
has a timber floor so ff level is usually above dpc level.
Do you set the dpc on the extension to the ff level of the house or to the dpc level of the house.
I’ve seen both used just wondered what your thoughts were steve ?
    Thanks

    • @SteveAndAlexBuild

    • @neilu.k.1364
      @neilu.k.1364 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks for answering, so internally you screed above your dpc then?
Sorry to question it but I did my extension the way you said but then I’ve seen/read some that set the extension Dpc at ffl of existing house so they don’t screed above dpc in the extension?
      Thanks
