    Apparently it needs to be said...colorway variants of a statue are different statues. Smaller/bigger versions of the exact same statue are NOT variants. They are the SAME statue, just smaller/bigger.

    This is the definition of a first world problem, lol. My first piece ever was the Poison Ivy "Green with Envy" PF, a color variant of the first Poison Ivy PF, and still my favorite piece to this day. The only time I ever felt like the people getting upset over variants is when they revealed the very next Poison Ivy PF, because I felt like I could have waited to get that one instead, but then I realized that they're just going to make another one after that and they did; they made like three more, and each with a color variant. I do feel like scale variants are a different thing though, so maybe companies should be more transparent about that.

    I was able to acquire an updated Hush Superman at a scale that fits my space, so I have absolutely no problems with releasing new scale variants. The company benefits by getting to maximize profits for reduced effort, and collectors that either couldn't purchase due to price or space limitations now have an option.
    I think you can make a good argument about deluxe versions and color variants needing to be announced at the same time, but scale is so specific to the collector, that a 1/4 scale re-release isn't going to affect a 1/3 scale buyer. And if it's about impacting re-sale, I'd say shipping costs are doing more damage than any re-release.

    The unmasked Mythos Vader portrait is killer, imho it is the best of the three portraits. I speculate that they dropped it from the upcoming 1/4 to throw a bone to 1/5 collectors so that they still have something "special".

    It’s kind of the same issue that a physical media collector has when they release the Blu-ray of a movie and then several weeks or months later they put out a 4K and then people are mad that they didn’t wait

    Most of Iron Studios’ 1/10 and DC’s 1/9 statues were never reissued to 1/6 or 1/4 nor from other companies. But the studios are looking at their popular sales on different scales.

      You bring up a great point! The scaling practices in the statue industry can be quite confusing, and it’s interesting to see how different companies approach their popular lines.

    I know for sure I'll never buy anything from Sideshow that isn't 1/4th/PF again. So in that sense it may actually hurt them a bit if people take this approach to their new announcements that aren't 1/4th.
    It would be no big deal if they informed customers that they planned to make different scales beforehand, but they didn't. So that's why customers feel screwed over.

    To be honest I don't have an issue if a company wants to release a variant. Some characters have a great variation of costumes and seeing and getting different costumes is the way to go with a variant. But my issue is the fact that the companies don't let the customer know when or if a variant comes. As a company just be honest and say this is the statue and the customer can chose between statue A or B. Sideshow did it perfect with their Hulks and with the different scales just the same. Sideshow did it great with the Fastball Special. But with Succubus and Batman for example no it wasn't perfect. And if you release a variant like Succubus let the customers chance if they want to and switch the NRD. That should be possible without asking for it at customer support.

      You raise some excellent points! Transparency from companies about variants can really enhance the collector's experience. It's all about trust and choice, and it's great to see some companies doing it right!

    You guys say that current 1/5 collectors aren't affected and can just keep their statues, but you do need to "upgrade" if you want to continue with the Mythos range, as all new statues will be 1/4/ (e.g. the new Obi and Mace).
    So please apply a little more nuance next time rather than being dismissive of the affect on current collectors.

    To those complaining stop crying. You’re a grown man. A company has the right to do what they want. You don’t like it don’t buy it’s simple

      Completely agree, they should make a bunch of scales. No idea why people have meltdowns over this.

      @@InfamyOrDeath-__-People get upset because they sometimes settle, and spend more or compromise on scale when they otherwise wouldn't.
      Example...you bought a pair of shoes, right? The next day, they release a better pair of the SAME shoes for $7 more(or less depending on your needs). It would probably bother you. Especially if the price of the shoes were kind of an investment, yeah?
      But yeah, companies are gonna company.

    • @InfamyOrDeath-__-
      @InfamyOrDeath-__- 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @ I don’t agree with that at all, your example with shoes happens every day, they bring out new styles constantly. A pair you buy today might be out of style by the end of the year.
      What you’re describing is a stagnant economy, where nothing changes, I think that’s terrible. I don’t think of statues as an investment, I think that’s a terrible way to view them, you should only buy a statue because you like it, not because you think you can sell it later.
      And bringing out a different scale doesn’t devalue your own, I think every company should release every statue in 1/6, 1/4 & 1/3 so everyone can get it.
      Everything that I buy, I buy with the thought that I’m never going to sell it, and I never will sell any of my statues or figures. I collect mostly high end anime PVC 1/6 & 1/7 figures (around €25,000 value), but I have 3 Prime1 1/4 (and another on the way) and 3 unlicensed 1/6 dioramas.

      @markherman1211 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      @InfamyOrDeath-__- It's not a new style, it's the SAME shoe. Re-releases in the statue world are a new thing, there's no precedent for it even as recent as 2yrs ago, and people are struglling to accept it(I realize now you don't care). Statues aren't an investment, I never said they were. I alluded to the cost being high(investment). I too, only buy what I like and plan keeping(1:7/1:4/1:3). You do you man.

    • @jacoblopez6100

      @@markherman1211 horrible example, they release different colorways of the exact same Jordan's every month. What you said about re-releases being new in the statue world is objectively false. My very first piece was a variant of the first Poison Ivy premium format figure and that was ten years ago now. They also did color variants for the Batman and Catwoman PFs back then as well. I do agree that companies should be upfront about what scales they'll be releasing in though, that's a completely different thing.
