Do you think it’s a prototype?!
I'd say it's stripped. Same way guys were stripping chrome off c3po and death star droids
Buy the C-3PO case
Need to bump it up to two episodes a week 🤘🏻 need a mid week episode on Wednesday
I don't know, but I've seen videos of people restoring the white in stormtroopers and the millennium falcon using solution bath and marijuana lights. Would that method remove the gold foil? Good science experiment for a kid science fair I guess.
Was there a maker's mark (stamp)?
Dude with the C-3P0 case was super cool. Not trying to push any B.S. or rip anybody off. Just a chill dude enjoying the hobby.
He was roached out.
Totally cooked 😵💫😂😂
@@greekokie😂😂😂 probably so but damn what a chill dude
Please don't ever change this video format! Great stuff. Could watch all day.
I want more!
Ayoooo how he knows nothing about that case n then ALLOW A WIPEOUT OUT N THEN MESS IT UP MORE SMH....HE GOT RIPPED OFF PERIOD SMH
….been watching all day (just found this channel)
Hell yeah I feel like I’m in the store looking around and I hear some awesome trade in going on, sick!
I say it every week, but I absolutely love watching these episodes. I wish there was more than 1 a week. I'm looking forward to when you do a live.
I've never seen that starwars case before. That's wild.
Working on it!
I'm not a toy collector myself but I keep come back to the channel for memory of my childhood toys and the good vibes.
I bet it's a test shot before plating. Companies use whatever material they have on hand that meets the shrinkage spec of the final material. Test shots can vary in color and transparency.
I agree. Or even just a production sample that was pulled before plating for whatever reason.
Good morning,
Enjoyed talking with you on the phone but I used to own either this one of one just like it. This used to glow-in-the-dark. My brother received it from a friend when we lived in Bowling Green, KY, and later passed it on to me. I can distinctly remember seeing in glow and we stored our figures in it.
I sold it at Celebration II in Indianapolis several ago.
Awesome to see this again.
Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you! I was thinking the exact same thing and surprised they didn’t consider that.
16:50 Hearing that Razor Romane/Scott Hall “HEY YO!!” Made my day 😊😂
That C3P0 case is fascinating and I’d love to see if guys find out about it.
Never really get to see these sort of things where I live in N.E 🏴
It's a C-through-PO case!!!!
My 40+ year old self is loving this version on ‘Saturday Morning Cartoons’! Just got done removing a foot and a half of snow from the corner sidewalk of my property, so hunkering down for Toy Federation is the perfect way to recoup from that much work.
Absolutely! My 44 y/o ass gets the exact same satisfactory nostalgic feeling watching these episodes. I only live 25 minutes away, but the bummer is I don't have a car anymore 😕. So going out anywhere beyond a 5 mile radius is a once every 6 months kinda thing.
Heck yeah! Same lol.
The Imperial Shuttle is one of my favorites, that one looks pretty sweet.
Easy Off oven cleaner will strip vac-metal of plastic 100% with no plastic damage. I did it for C3P0 many times. Also to customize slot cars and model kits, which we did in the 90s.
That 3PO looks like it's made from that glow in the dark plastic. I had many toys back then that looked that colour that glowed. It was some thing new that gave a new twist to old toys, like Matchbox toy cars for example. I'm only 7 minutes into this video, you may have thought of that when I continue, lets find out and see.
I have been buying and selling with Toy Federation for years. Always respectful and enjoyable! Ryan is, hands down, one of the most enjoyable people to interact with! Keep the videos rolling, they are always a joy to watch!
Found the channel about a week or two ago and have binged everything. You guys have such a special place and channel. So much charm and passion bleeds through your videos. Cannot thank y’all enough for making content like this. It’s beyond great.
Your C-3PO case appears to be a prototype. There are multiple types of shots that can exist. The vendor who made the molds for Kenner may have made their own shots. Kenner would have made multiple test shots for internal review and equipment setup. Test shots do not normally have a country of origin molded on them, so that is something to check. COO is added with a small plate that mounts into the mold, so they make the mold in the US, and can move it around overseas and just add the right COO plate as it moves.
They also made more test shots of this case than others. They had to send samples to their vac metal vendor. The plastic would not take the vac metal very well, so Kenner had to change the plastic. This means the vac metal vendor probably didn't use all the samples sent to them, which is another place they could have leaked out to the public.
I don't even like Star Wars as a line but I must know is it real or just an easy off oven cleaner?
its glow in the dark.
If a plate is inserted to shoot the COO, wouldn't the OG mould have a block or square inside of it to receive it?
You can't insert extrusions into a mould, they have to be cut in?
@@bandicootcollector It can be done different ways and Kenner probably did it different ways. I think it depends on the parts. For action figures, the letters are raised on the figure and it is a very small area. You can't really have a removeable section of a leg.
What has been found on figures is that Kenner made the mold and then did all the test shots to verify it (initial test shots have no COO), then they would add the COO after approval. You add the COO with recesses in the mold, so raised letters on the figures. The figures had sub molds that would go into a larger mold. When they needed to move tooling to different countries, they would just remake/repair half a leg mold, and reuse the other sub-molds. You can "repair" the COO, buy welding over, EDM the area, and re-stamp. But for such a small part, repair is probably as or more expensive as a new part, and generally the parts produced aren't as good.
However, larger parts can be made with a mold that had a spot where the COO could be changed with an insert. So when you look at a piece, and it has some kind of oval or square impression around the COO area, that probably had an insert. This is easy to do when you have a large piece with lots of flat area.
this way, instead of remaking a very large tooling piece, they are still just making a small replacement part (like half a leg sub-mold).
I don't know for certain if the 3-PO case used an insert. I'm not that familiar with the part, but I assume it did. Kenner did use COO inserts. For test shots, they just have a blank insert (you get the encircling portion, but no text inside it). Even if it didn't have an insert, they would have followed the same process as with action figures. Test shots made first, and COO not added until after approval.
Known prototypes of the 3-PO case do not have COO. So if you want to see if someone has stripped the chrome off to fake a prototype, just look for the COO.
The “comic book men” we never got, but always wanted! 😊
Oh wow!
Living in California, every Saturday morning i get up at 6:00 am to get my Toy Fix. Thank you. 🌟
oh wow! Thank you!
please update if you get a definitive answer on the C3PO case...great video
If you take the C3P0 case and soak it in Dot3 brake fluid, the gold will fall off of it. There won’t be one speck of gold or residue left behind. I rebuild RCs and that’s how we strip the paint off a polycarbonate body. Makes it like brand new. Also gotta mention, dude has a wicked comb over!! Trust me, I’m jealous… I can’t grow one follicle of hair on my entire head, anywhere!
Love the Dragons Lair shirt!
Love seeing the Exo squad stuff. I remember having them as a kid. Enjoyed the cartoon as well. Thanks for sharing as always Toy Federation.
"Spiiiiral ZONE!" lol I LOVE when you guys get animated! Also, please keep using this camera. The colors were so vibrant but natural. It looks like it does in person. Also, loving the Devastator I recently purchased. Thanks and keep up the excellent work!
I don't collect toys but I find it so funny that it seems to be far easier to sit on the floor as a grown man and look at everything than to try and look at it one by one on the counter.
It’s only a matter of time till a streaming service makes a streaming series for Toy Federation lol!
I hope so, I have followed numerous channels that deserved a streaming show and even tried to get one but to no avail
Someone dechromed that C3PO case with easy-off like the figures. If it was a prototype there would be a story with it.
That's a KO 3po case, those were up on ebay 20 years ago they came in 3 diff colors.
Morning TF, waking up to your vids on a Saturday is a must now💯
It looks to me that the C-3PO carry case might be a shipping sample. Kenner would test the durability of an item by shipping early examples of toys out to designated addresses, then they would examine the toy, take notes, and make any changes if needed. It was a good way to test not only the toys, but the packaging as well.
the C3-PO that everyone talks about was a Star Wars Droids cartoon carry case which was on purpose that color, a lot of people will tell you it was never market or sold to the public which isn't 100% the truth as a Family member of mine owned and operated a KB toy store and will say we had them. the clearer look is most likely due to time and aging as it will become more clearly see through, I even know people that will soak the painted versions in Thinner and then switch to a Bleach to stripe the paint off the gold versions to make said version. are they rare as rare as SW droid Factory with all its parts but not super rare as Yes you can still find them.
Lies.
Was awesome to visit store in person this week and hear honest advice on Greer/real estate. For those wondering are these guys this real, this honest? The answer is a resounding yes! Long live Toy Federation!
So glad you came in!
Another awesome vid guys 👌
That C-3PO case was super interesting 🤔
Im thinking it might be glow in the dark
Great episode. Saturday mornings! Please don’t ever change that! 🙏🏻
exo squad was so badass!!
The German u boat captain group of figures were Mego licensed “knock offs” known as Johnny Action or Lion Rock. They were great play as a kid because of the HUGE number of characters and the number of WWII countries that they made. Germany, Japan, French,Italian, British, even Chinese and Vietnamese. Highly underrated and hard to find many of them.
At 100k subscribers get a nice oak table to conduct these trades at.
Dragons Den: Nerd Edition
I agree get off the floor but otherwise perfect show. So no hate just a slight tweak for a bad ass show
Nah make it a cocobolo
Chef boyardee Shredder! That’s a great piece!
I love, love LOVE Toy Federation! Your videos are a highlight of my week. You guys are informative, interesting and damn funny!
Keep up the great work, fellas! !
I could watch this all day, thanks so much
Loved Spiral Zone as a kid. Only had two of the figures, but they were really cool.
I remember Spiral Zone I had a few of the figures and I liked watching that cartoon as well. That shuttle is so cool, that's one toy I never got.
These videos are amazing to watch… the best channel on TH-cam by a country mile
This channel never disappoints! Thanks again for another great video gang.
Keep the vidoes coming. Missed how much the shuttle guy was offered and the C3P0 color looks like glow-in-dark figures I have.
Please keep this going I look forward to it every time
Awesome episode! I know that guy as well as we've ran into each other at some local flea markets over the years toy hunting. Cool to see!
That's a nice Imperial Shuttle Box 🙌
Another great video. Always looking forward to Saturday morning.
4:20 i had that starship troopers shirt as a kid! got it at Spencers lmao hell yeah
On The Toys That Made Us, Season 1 Episode 1, (Star Wars Episode) at approximately 1:45 there is a shot of someone's collection room. On the bottom shelf to the right of center screen, there is a white or opaque colored C3PO case. Interestingly, there is also a gold Darth Vader case.
Exosquad squad check in! Kaz and Thrax in this video.
I had the mini Resolute, and the not as mini Resolute hanger, olympus mons, and Vesta space port play sets.
7:47 Someone probably soaked that C-3PO case in mean green. It removes all the gold.
Stumbled on one of these videos… then binge watched them all in one sitting lol.
ALWAY'S GLAD 2 👀 WHAT IS GOING ON!!!! AND YOU ALL DO SUCH A GREAT JOB!!! THANK YOU ALL 4 EVERYTHING YOU ALL DO!!!!!❤😂👍🙏
That Shredder though!!!!!!
I had almost every case, this is a prototype..there are a few Vaders too, gold one and a silver too I think.
Been waiting about 8 hours till i got home from work .so looking forward to this
Is that storage case molded in the phosphorescent material so it glows in the dark?
Oh man.. those spiral zone toys, I never collected them but i vividly remember the series..
Not sure if it was said but the silver color on the chef and regular super shredder are two different shades of “silver”
I had something like that in the UK as a kid, it was a diecast Car case.
In my opinion somebody sprayed that case with easy off. It completely removed plating from plastic. I do it all the time on chrome plated R/C wheels. It completely removes it, even the tiny crevices.
I remember seeing on the news,a story about an American trade show where toys were premiered, and a vendor showed a Destroyer Droid from Phantom Menace, where you could close it up, like scrunched up, roll it like a ball, and then it would spring open to it's standing pose. But that was never sold right? I remember it being about the size of a basketball when closed. I was always been so disappointed it was never released.
That C-3PO carrying case definitely looks like a “test shot.” I saw one at a store called “The Toy Department” in Cincinnati, Ohio last year.
That C3P0 I have a Darth Vader that looks like that. It's a case that has slots for all my figures.
Amazing stuff that comes into your store.
Yay new video ❤ love U guys. Greetings from Ireland.
Thanks!
So, what’s the deal with that C-3PO case? There wasn’t any resolution on what it is, exactly.
Better later than never.Good show as usual, Ryan.
OMG THE MAIL AWAY SHREDDER!!!!
I’d buy it just in case ( no pun intended!😂).
Could be one in a few different prototypes.
missing the toy federation commercials
The 3 p0 case was dipped in acetone
Such a Cool channel, such an Awesome store !!! You guys seem like great guys, and you know your stuff. These videos feel like I could be watching them on TLC or History Channel. Really enjoying it.
That would be a great microphone in any other setting. It picks up background conversations, people’s text tones, that doorbell sounds like it’s inside the camera
Hi.
7:50into the video there's nooooo excuses.... sometimes there's ways that makes us collectors from other states that makes us"THINK OR ASSUME TO TRUST U ALLFOR REAL PRICES INSTEAD OF OVER DOING THE PRICES KNOWING THE STORE U HAVE TAKES advantage
I remember getting up early to watch this on Saturdays. It came on at 6am! Had the toys, too. I also remember one year, my best friend got the entire collection of C.O.P.S. great show, too. It was another one that didn't last long.
The C3PO is a unchromed shell, this is what the ABS form looked like under the vacuum metallization. Part of the mold checking process... Gold does not flake off like that completely so I dought it was a retail item. If if is missing any trademark and makers marks it a development stage model, that get put on last..
Ryan AWESOME video ..me thinks this is a very worn 3PO CASE that has been stripped ...
I loved Spiral Zone! Never saw any toys
nice dragon's lair shirt! i love that game!
Hot wheels sizzlers used to lose chrome like that c3po case lost it's gold. It didn't flake off, it just disappeared.
That 3PO does look like a prototype and clear plastic does frost after decades if not kept in a temp controlled space.
Idk anything about the production of the Kenner Star Wars line but I feel like the case might be a test print. Something they used to test the molds, I'm not sure just spit ballin
I just came across a channel called carbon scoring I was watching video of iron man figures , he had a silver surfer that was part cream an had an explanation of how it was made and how the silver went cream , anyway it reminded me of this video
Great Videer! Do you guys have any wacky wall walkers in the store?
Oh look at that more toys on the ground where they say they don't walk.
Did we walk where the toys were?
@@toyfederation so when the toys aren't there you are telling me you don't walk in that area?
You are always quick to answer what happens?
Can you prove otherwise?
go for it!!!
The gold gets added after. So that is an example of pre coating. Or it's a glow in the dark prototype
Enjoyed the video fellas
Spray oven cleaner will remove the vac metalized chrome off of the C3-P0 and Death Star Droid figures so it would make sense it would work on a case.
Like the vids the way they are. Some folks try get clever and glitzy and starts looking stupid. Folks live the channel the way it is cheers
I think you guys were trying to remember Lion Rock as the manufacturer of the Military MEGO type figures….
It's a See-Through-P-O (cue: comic drum hit)
I am that one customer who would ask for Spiral Zone😵💫
You can completely and safely remove chrome off plastic by submerging the item in super clean or other similar type product,it can even get into the tight hard to get to areas of the finest detail.
I think it’s a prototype 👍🏻
That imperial shuttle is awesomeness
I love it!
Love you guys !!! #1 FAN
