Nah some men just think they are the best thing since sliced bread 😂 they still offer the smoothest cartridge razor shave in The market which offers a faster shave when you need it. I was lucky to save a 1966 slim adjustable destine for the dump in 1976. Dads coworker died at a young age, 53. A ww2 vet. Saved a bunch of stuff. Also got a schick krona tto. The early one with a case. That has .030 blade exposure like gillette red flare tip.

A question about a gillette 109, at the #1 setting the quarter turn is probably less than 1/8 turn on #9 it’s at least 1/4 turn after watching this vid multiple times, like most of your videos, this seems normal…thanks for the great videos

This is a message to anyone who is thinking to send in a razor to pisarcik &co.
They have my razor for a revamp since December 2019. Now is July 2020. As of today there is no sign of the serviced and revamped 1907 single ring Gillette razor. I've received a few misleading e-mails and a bunch of excuses during the 7 months period. Now, they even stopped answering to my emails. I don't know what is going on in his service shop, but I have the feeling that I can kiss my razor and $100+ goodbye.
So, just a friendly advice: think twice before you are sending in something valuable to that guy, you might never see it again.

    Hi Matt,
Thank you for this great video.
I just bought a G3 slim. It was really "gunky" but seems to be mechanically sound. I gave it a clean up. The finish is a bit faded.
Would it be okay to shave with?
Also there is another very similar one back at the same antique shop, similarly dirty but also seems sound. Should I jump on it or are they a dime a dozen?
I also bought what appears to be a "Made in Canada" Gillette New.

  • @azshooter348

I have a multitude of Gillette Techs. They all shave amazingly close and smooth with a variety of blades. I also have several Slim Adjustables and Super Adjustables. The magic happens with that extra 1/4 turn handle twist - it tightly secures the blade unlike any of Gillettes' previous razors. All those many blades that shave so well with my Techs shave just a little smoother & closer in my Adjustables.

Another interesting fact is that the Fatboy originally came with Gillette Blue blades but later on it came with Super Blue Blades sometime in 1960. Similar thing went with the Slim which originally came with Super Blue blades but were replaced with Stainless blades in 1964. The Super Adjustable also initially came with Stainless blades, but later on in 1969 or 1970 were replaced by Platinum Plus which were default blades with the Black Beauty for more years to come.

About that "last 1/4 turn" thing - I have an L4 Slim Adjustable that had a sort of "click" for the last 1/4 turn, where it would briefly be easier to torque down, then you feel it definitely stop. Then one day I dropped it on the floor, and forever after that, instead of a click it just got harder to turn. Absolutely no difference in the open/close mechanism or the shave quality though.

Went to Ebay auctions and it seemed like everyone was hot for "Black Beauties" and if they had the Gold Tone; forget about it. But one seller had a 1968 Slim Adjustable N4 with very little fanfare and only a couple of photos. I got it! When it arrived it was absolutely exquisite. Perfect working condition. for their made to order razors? Gillette pristine condition original
case for the Fatboys and Slims are almost impossible to find and
acquire. Razor Emporium can provide their own case for the Gillette
Fatboy, Slim, and TTO razors. If I bought a Rhodium Fatboy or Slim or
Red Tip for gift to someone, where will I put that nice razor to make it
    a presentable gift?

Just bought on Etsy a J4 Slim Adjustable, and this is in the time frame of my birth. Cannot wait to get it, so I can look at options for getting it in like new shape if feasible.

*Are you still doing Gillette Fatboy repairs?* I just bought a 1959 Fatboy for $60 on EBay… it’s listed as: Excellent condition, fully functional and the pictures look great. I just don’t have anything to reference it to if it’s not working properly being my first vintage Gillette adjustable razor?! Should I look for specific warning signs that it might need work done?

@@RazorEmporium just found my first vintage Gillette razor for $20! It’s a nickel plated Gillette Superspeed (like Milady except the finish) *and according to your video it was made starting July 1947 because it has the notch on the T-bar* it’s almost mint after cleaning. Also got a military issued case from WWII Micromatic I believe. It has the eagle with the American flag on its belly and the inside says Gem clog pruf?! Looked it up it’s definitely legit and the guy at the antique store got it from his daughter in an estate sale. He definitely took care it, looks almost mint except for slight discoloration on the handle. The TTO is so smooth and I can see why they’re popular. Only TTO I’ve used was a Micro Touch One endorsed by that Pawn Stars guy Rick. It was decent but this Gillette is on another level. I don’t know what it’s called I think it’s a Gen2 Superspeed but you’ve definitely reviewed the gold executive one in another video. Your set is complete, I just got the nickel plated version in a WWII military case with a pack of the Super Blue blades but I can’t see the date it looks rubbed off it’s either O-1, U-1 or J-1? I’m happy for $20 and I’m about to shave and test it out with a new Wizamet Super Iridium

    Yea... about that...
Why would you continue to promote Gillette after their whole “Got Woke” ad campaign vilifying their market base?
    Hmmm... 🧐
