I have to re-watch the show again. He was such a great actor that he played a regular Guy pretending to be an islander, and the accent was terrible, but believable for a man pretending to do an accent. That takes talent
People say this show is unrealistic, as if it was meant to be a documentary or something. If it was 'authentic' it wouldn't be half as entertaining. There are no "realistic" dramas, not really. Few people would watch them if they were - in fact, it could be argued that a 'realistic' drama is a contradiction in terms. The Sopranos, though - it's head and shoulders above Oz, and I loved Oz.
Chairman Meow and imagine he wanted to be cast as one of the bikers because he is a real life biker, but Tom Fontana wanted wanted him with the Italians best and smartest decision ever made lol
Mobay is an underrated character. Starts out good then being around all these bad dudes it gets to him n he becomes a bad man then he reforms himself when he realizes he's become what he despises. Great arc
When this show came out, I never would’ve imagined that so many of the characters would’ve ended up in the wire or on law and order. As well as many other HBO series. Shit, some of them in even ended up on showtimes series.
I believe that Italian guy was on the Batman series called Gotham. Lord Jamar the rapper was on here. I believe that white cop was in the first Avengers movie.
It doesn't really make much sense for Mobay to kill a guy (a cop nonetheless) just to bust up a prison drug ring. Any cop would see that's too big a price for a relatively small reward.
right... it had nothing at all to do with the environmental pressures he was under, the feelings of being a real prisoner, the psychological effects that had taken place or gee idk the drugs he took.....but nah...13 uptokes and you're god.
Yea that was among this show's most ridiculous moments. No police department would ever step foot inside a prison, and why would they? Their job is to protect the public, not the incarcerated.
When Mobay confessed and got put in with the rest of the cops, did hill ever come visit him???? That would have been a GREAT moment. With Clayton there and everything. Lol
I felt bad for Mobay/ Basil going down the road he did and later getting murdered by Clayton, but on a serious note, you know the war on drugs is a joke when they're easy as hell to get in a maximum security prison😒
The point of that was for him to be an outsider that no one would know of. Had it been a local black thug from the city or a neighboring city, Adebisi would've known of him or could've done his due diligence on him. Now he's effectively unknown, which is why Adebisi doesn't trust him.
What a great detective he is; don't bother to do any recon, and immediately bluff like he knows what's what. You don't see it here, but his first move is to go after clean-as-a-whistle Agustus Hill. Oh and great move on that fake-as-hell accent that's incredibly easy to slip up on even if you're sober. Hey Sherlock, how about looking into the brothers who announce they're off to snort some tits every 5 minutes? "Tits" is prison slang for heroin - I'm starting to wonder if he even figured that out.
Talking like some lowlife fresh off the boat would stand out less in prison than talking like a guy who went to university. But maybe because he thought it'd be fun.
Does Augustus sometimes forget he's in a wheel chair? Between all the shit he was talking here and him running up on Supreme Allah... it's like he just doesn't remember that he's at a distinct disadvantage.
It's because he kept a weapon stashed inside his armrest on the wheelchair.. He revealed it during one of his narrations.. Idk why he never used it 🙄..
As shitty as this was what Mobey did he later as himself (John Basil) was truly redeemable. He felt horrible for what he did and accepted responsibility and got clean. Of course as soon as he became a likable character they killed him off.
This show had me nervous all of the time. And the way it was shot and sounded made it more. One of the best shows ever on TV and i recommend to people but with caution

Its interesting how many tests Mobay had to go through before he was let in on the trade. I guess thats what happens when you arouse suspicion within Adebisi. I remember Morales came with cred, so he basically just waltzed into the trade, on the basis that he eliminate one of the partners.

Rest in peace Lance 😭, died way too soon at the age of 60. Such an amazing actor and I loved him in this series...
I know bro, I've was watching this show all week and this happens dude.
He's been amazing in so many things, but he was always Mobay to me
I have to re-watch the show again. He was such a great actor that he played a regular Guy pretending to be an islander, and the accent was terrible, but believable for a man pretending to do an accent. That takes talent
Michael Kenneth Williams too! Ray Stevenson died also.
They live on thru the characters and art they leave behind. God bless. ✌
These are Lt. Daniel’s “dark days” Burrell was threatening to expose
Meshuggapeth That's some dirty shit, Lt. Daniel's.
Best. Comment. Ever
@Mario Prata u rember him on da corner
Now that I'm watching The Wire (yeah I know I"m late), I get this joke LOL!!
🤣🤣🤣great comment
He lost his job, died, and was reincarnated as a Baltimore PD detective.
And then became the concierge at a hotel for Assassins.
First he was a heroin addict on The Corner after Oz
That was what was in that file that Burrell had on him!!
His punuishment was being exiled to Baltimore.
A harsh fate for even the worst of people.
crazy
This has to be the WORST attempt at an undercover operation ever. Well played, Mobay...
He immediately gets hooked on drugs and ends up killing other undercover cops.
@@joemckim1183 its quite easy tho to get addicted

Chairman Meow that’s Chuck Zito. He is a bad dude
Pancamo was racist
Joe Headden How is he a bad dude? I hadn’t heard anything bad about him.
That prison was basically a giant death trap
I don't believe anyone made it to their release date.
Oz was far nicer and softer than real US prisons, according to certain prisoners and staff.

it really does. I've never watched the series but the camera work looks like something from prisoner cell block H, it's so bad lol
i remember being terrified at this show as a kid but it's pretty hilarious in bite size clips..
A laugh track during episodes would be hilarious.

When the lights went out at 4:31 and mobay was looking at Aug Hill that was so good and creepy at the same time

Mobay/Basil was in the cop unit, not in emerald city (where hill is) so no and he was killed by Clayton almost right after he was arrested
Clayton is Hughes here. Mobay should've just asked to let out of operation when that cop he killed was threatening to blow his cover.
Legend has it: In another dimension Desmond Mobay was a Captain of an undercover Narcotics Division in Baltimore that used wire taps.
I heard that he works for the Umbrella Corporation
Later on Mobay became the CEO of HamptonDeville.
