At first I didn't like your video but it was the only video that really helped me level the bed and start printing. Thanks kid and keep up the great work. Merry Christmas.
thx for the tutorial, at first I thought that there were some parts missing but everythings fine and all the questions were answered in the comment section.
I bought my printer a short while ago, used 1 day to assemble it, i never touched a 3d printer before and only know computer electronics and ive got it up and running but havent been able to print yet; my problem was that the temperature and x-end was switched; i think it was different setup in the video but when i compared the cables to the picture on the backside of the box for the motherboard, i found my error and i got it to heat up properly. i have yet to print anything but at least i have it ready :) a few differences i noticed was f.ex the pre-cut hole in the plate for the backside of the monitor for the GPIO pins. thats a great change if i was to connect a bigger setup for the printer. i like the changes to the motherboard as well for the power, nozzle heater and bed-heater were they are setup with 2x screw and 1 of the green tower things. looking forward to printing upgrades for this machine
Great video, got mine all set up but no filament coming out says it’s heated up and it starts printing but nothing unless I push filament through HELP if you could offer any advice would be greatly appreciated
The first things you need to print are: 1. A filament reel arbor holder so that the reel spins more smoothly around the axle. 2. A 360 degree cooling nozzle so that your prints end up getting better quality.
Best, what I still miss is the explanation of the commissioning (on youtube) of the 3d printer & tweaking here by far the parts fit perfectly and any materials perfectly also the out put on the youtube are very clear! Greetings Frits Verbeeten
My anth a8 does not work well! Setting of the extruder is probably not good, How do I fix this? I think too much plastic comes out of the nozzle. (Too much extruding) Also the nozzle rubs (too hard) against the workpiece. How can i change that? On the LCD screen do I think? Please inquire about it Or maybe you have a link to how I change it? friendly greetings from The Netherlands! Rob.
fantastic, i just completed my build and everything is working fine, realy a nice maschine, thx guys, i will keep an eye on your company and see if there is more intessting stuff u provide
Hi @101ZERO . Sorry to hijack your post. Does your X-Motor (horizontal) slide smoothly when moved by hand? Mine moves but I have to apply a great deal of strength compared to what I've seen in the videos. Thanks and congratz on your build!
hi @michor10 , no problem for hijacking^^. Does it also slide hard when turned off? cause when it is turned on the stepper motors hold it in place (one advantage from stepper motors), to turn the steppers off go in the menu -> "quick settings" -> "disable steper" -> (u have to scroll, should be the last point), but if it is also hard to move when the printer isnt powered: unscrew the extruder bracket (the J shaped metal piece) and check which of the 3 linear ballbearing is stuck, feel free to ask again if u have any problems
1O1ZERO I noticed it during assembly so the unit was off the whole time. The sliders move freely when the belt is off so I guess it must either be one of the lateral wheels/pulley things or the motor itself. I just ran a quick diagnostic test and the unit seemed fine. I'll try to make a video to show you better. Cheers!
Got this working, awesome product and the videos are very helpful, would recommend you update the video links on gearbest as they are for an older version and they confused me at first. Had a problem with the SD Card that came with the printer, the printer wouldn't detect it, (but it worked on my PC). I swapped it for a 2GB SD card and it then worked fine, I think the printer doesn't like 8GB or bigger cards.
Hi David I had the problem of not finding the MANUAL choice on the menue and subsequently the TEST FILE wasn' there either. quiet a letdown after all the assembling and setting up. As I read through the other comments it seems to me that this problem is not unusual. Can you please let me know where I can get a replacement card? thx Peter
Hi David, thx for this great video. I've assembled my new anet a8 over the weekend, but since then i'm stuck with a problem. Now when i preheat PLA to 190, insert the filament till it run out from the nozzle, the chosen gcode file won't print. LCD show printing, but stays at 0% forever. I did everything the same as in this debugging video, even moved the axis's manually. Somewhere, somehow i'm doing something wrong, please give some advice. I'm a newbie to 3D printing.
Leon Mans I read your comment about how you can't use your pla ... well I read somewhere on the internet that you are supposed to use abs as it works better
The printer build went really well. Printer turned on as expected. Initialised ok. Selected "home all" on the display, everything worked as expected. Disabled stepper, all still ok. Then noticed the display had gone off so I could not go any further. Now no display. Is there anything I can do?
A year on.....just a thought. Showing the nozzle at 25mm before moving the end stop.....must surely depend on how much of the 6mm x 30mm feeder tube is screwed up into the extruder motor. There is no mention anywhere about this. But then in 2018, there are so many other none Anet printers of far better quality and sales of the A8 are falling, which Geeetech seem to be the best of the new kids on the block....
David Dan - ANET A8 Instruction Video 1 & 2 (updated version): I give you an "A" for your instruction video, but just want to add some small details that others might find useful. 1) the exturder wire (2 Red) are to short - they need to be another 6-8 cm to allow full travel of the X axis at it's lowest position. I did make it work, but it hooks right in front of the display controls. 2) the recent version of the main board I received uses terminal screws for the 12V power connection and for the bed heater. Poor design - the solder on the back of the main board can be easily damaged. Hold the terminal in place with a pliers when tightening. 3) The Z limit switch is poorly located behind the Z drive bars which makes it hard to tighten after assembly. This is easy to miss and could lead to hotbed/extruder damage if the Z limit switch slips during operation. I was able to assemble the unit with the parts provided and can now continue to the next video (Powering Up).
Hello! Thank you very much for your videos. They were very detailed and helped me to assemble my anet A8. I followed every step and i was super happy then i started debugging to do my first print like you do in this video. But happens that when i get to step 12 and select preheat PLA the Extruder temperature stays at +-23ºC and the Hotbed temperatures goes to 91ºC. I checked everything over and over again... people keep telling me that i should have switched the Extruder and Hotbed on the board but not, its like yours. For this to happen what have i missed? Thank you very much for your time. And keep doing good videos!
It might not be the heating cables but rather the cables for the two thermistors. The bed thermistor should be plugged into B_T and the extruded thermistor should be plugged into E_T
I am new to 3d printing I have a Anet A8 PRINTER SKYNET V2 3.2 Ssoftware cura 3.4.1 my problem is my turbo fan is not working, I got a new one plugged it in and not working, is it a setting iam missing or something else, any ideas
HI. I need your help. i followed your instructions from the part 1 to part 2, and here. when i hit Home All, the extruder move to left, and the bed move backward, then nothing happened, i was expecting the extruder to go down as seen in the video. what seems to be the problem?
Thanks for putting this video. I followed your steps. However, when I start printing with PLA, after about 2 mm printed material, it separates from the hot bed?! I tried increasing the hotbed temperature to 60 and turning down the fan to 25% and it helped but the print quality at the base is not good and it moves a little bit. what's your advice?
Hiya David. 1st thing. Great videos. 2nd I got 2 issues that I know of I am a extreme newbie at all of this. I followed your videos 100%. Everything was built and leveled correctly. 1st Issue: When I Home All or Print the printer sounds like it is grinding and struggling. The belt is just tight enough for some tension. 2nd Issue when printing the test.gcode the printer keeps wanting to start printing left halfway off the bed and halfway on the printing bed. Any clue why this happens?
I found an Anet A8, but everything wasnt with it. the white extruder blower, sd card that came with it also. Im struggling to get this to work. When I found it, it was mostly put together, but most definitely not set up. Ive given up on this printer, but its still in my possession. I just bought a FLSUN Q5. Either way, Im a noob. Please help
Hello David and thank you for all your videos. I have just bought and mounted a A8 Anet printer. Everything seems to be working fine except the Y-Motor channel. I've tried to switch the motor plugged to the "Y-Motor" but it's making noise and not really moving. When I plugged X-Motor on channel Y and Y motor on challenge X : X was wasn't working anymore (noise but no move) but Y was working. All this make me think that's the problem is comming from the electronic card (and not the motor). What shall I do please ? Thank you and have a good day
Example: Before exchange , X Pos.Fast ,X motor is abnormal . Y Pos.Fast, Y motor is good. Change X, Y motor connection , X Pos.Fast, Y motor is abnormal. Y Pos.Fast, X motor is good. You need to replace a mainboard; or X Pos.Fast , Y motor is good. Y Pos.Fast, X motor is abnormal, you need to replace X motor
Thank you for your quick answer David. Here is what I did : Before change : - Motor X plug on X connection - > X Pos. Fast = OK working good (Extruder moving left or right) - Motor Y plug on Y connection - > Y Pos. Fast = KO not working (Heatbed not moving) After change : - Motor X plug on Y connection - > Y Pos. Fast = OK not working (Extruder won't move left or right) - Motor Y plug on X connection - > X Pos. Fast = KO working good (Heatbed moving front to back) As you described the problem is comming from the mainboard but the printer is brand new. It should be working fine, doesn't it ? Are you providing anysort of guarantee please ?
Hi David at the 1:35 time when I hit QUICK SETTING then HOME ALL it goes all the way left then moves to the middle and goes down and stops with 0.5mm above the bed then moves all the way left.. How do I make it move like in the video. (going all the way left then down with 2.5mm above the bed). help would be greatly appreciated David
Hello David, I just deleted all the data I had on the SD Card (factory settings etc.) Could you please let me know where I can find them ? A last question, how can I reset the printer ? it seems to be stuck on "printer ready", I can't have access to the SD Card, it only shows "mount" and I can't even clock on it. Thanks a lot !! :)
Hey David, I assembled and double checked however when selected Home All it stops half way making some noise by the Z motors. It seems like motors face some difficulty to go below ~15 cm. Any advice please???
Hi! I bought the printer at amazon and the frame I got is totally different from the one on the videos. It's the aluminum composite frame. So far, no problem with that. When I was watching your video I realized I cannot go up and down with the S Z because it has a fixed position. Again, no problem with that either. The only thing that worries me is that when it starts printing the strudder doesn't begin printing from the center of the hot bed it begins 2.5 cm or 1 inch to the right. So the piece I'm printing is never on the center of the bed. Is that ok? Can it be fixed? Thanks!
Hello, just got my Anet A8 printer in the mail today and it's fully assembled! I didn't realize that the SD card had no info on it until I went to go print. (Part list missing?) Anywhere I can download these files?
I followed your videos and when I finished assembling it and plugged it in it didn't want to turn on and I checked the connections and everything seems to be connected properly but still nothing
hi, What is the problem ... When the initial operation, the extruder is directed to the opposite side to the end and continues for a while the engine rotates even when the extruder reaches the end ... The same applies to the surface ... Also, the z direction motor works one and the other does not work .. Note that I almost checked the connections All are correct, i am using Anet A8
Hello, just got everything together and I can't get the LCD to turn on when I plug it in. I am getting a green light on the power supply. No fans or noises. nothing. I triple checked that everything is plugged in correctly, but I must be missing something..
Hi, do you know how can I change steps/mm value for XY stepper? I changed both pulleys from T2.5 to GT2, so I have to lower both numbers from 100 to 80 steps/mm. I have been able to change it in the official firmware, but I don't know how to upload it in the mainboard. Thank you!
Hello! I have a question. I just finished building my new Anet A8. I notice that the extruder head required a great deal of force to move it horizontally by hand. The unit moves very smoothly if I remove the rubber belt so I assume it must be the motor being very tight. Is this normal? I see that you can move it quite easily in the video. Please help. Thanks!
Augman Yes, I did. I completely removed the motor from the printer to check. The motor cannot be turned smoothly by hand like the other ones so it's definitely defective. The printer is still able to print so I guess I'll just have to live with it until the new one arrives. I don't expect the Chinese company to send me a replacement. But hey, the printer is otherwise fantastic. I also ordered a leveling sensor and I'll be installing Skynet V2 soon to enable auto leveling. Cheers.
Hi. I just assembly my printer and debugged the printer following the instructions except the test file printing because it was not on the SD card (don't have the manual option either). When I'm trying to print something it will only print a first layer (always the same even with different files) and after that it prints in mid-air ? I can't figure this out, can you help me please ?
Hi David, My name is Kevin, I bought Desktop 3D Printers from your company. I have some trouble to print. First the Filament doesn't go down to print. But printer is printing. Do you know what is that problem? Thank you
Hi, I have assembled the printer completely however it does not turn on. I live in NY our power supply is 110v and I changed the settings to 110v before turning it on. .
check the files on the included SD card, there should be a power supply wiring diagram in there, they have the yellow and blue wires switched to the opposite of the video, try that it worked for me.
Similar thing for me. In my case the instruction stated different order of power cables on motherboard (Black was on the outer side, red closer to extruder socket). After switching them printer started. Thanks for pointing to the SD card instruction!
In completion of the build I uploaded the skynet software. The display had NOT changed so I rebooted machine and now I get a blank screen. The screen lights up with all rectangles, no words. Tried reset button, restart, reload software but nothing, still blank screen. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello! I've finished all of the setup and debugging up until the preheating portion, and it's working fine. When I attempt to preheat the PLA, it steadily goes up in increments of 0.2 until 80 where it slows down to 0.1. Once it hits 90, it is extremely slow, and after half an hour it odes not seem to be heating up past 94 degrees. Would this be a wiring error that causes it to not heat up to 190? Edit: After checking the wiring, I found that I had accidentally plugged in the Bed wires to the end portion, and vice versa. However, upon attempting heat up for the PLA again, the hotbed exceeded the 60 degree mark, and went over 100, tapping 130 at one point before I shut it off. The Extruder hung around 30 degrees, and I'm wondering why this would be happening when the wires are in their proper sockets now.
I have the same problem :( how do you solved it? My Hotbed temperture goes over 90ºC and Extruder temperature stops at +-24ºC. I cant solve it... how have you done SouSou Day? Can you help me please?
Hi, Handy video, thanks. I am having trouble printing files. The printer has no trouble printing the sample file but doesn't recognize any other file I put on it. Please help. Thanks.
This is the exact configuration of the printer that I ordered and assembled. When I select to preheat the display reads def / 240 def / 11 There is no indication that it is preheating, what should I check?
Step 1 . Click Reset , check screen. Click Reset and check screen. The temp will turn to def in a second . If the extruder temp is -50.9 , means thermistor cannot detect temp. Step 2 . Change wires of E_T , B_T port and click Reset , check screen If Step 1 & 2 both shows abnormal extruder temp , you need to replace extruder thermistor; If Step 1 & 2 both shows abnormal hotbed temp, you need to replace hotbed thermistor; If Step 1 shows abnormal extruder temp while Step 2 shows abnormal hotbed temp , or Step 2 shows abnormal extruder temp while Step 1 shows abnormal hotbed temp, you need to replace mainboard.
thx , I will try that. I did try to use the usb hookup but I do not see a response on the printer at all. What gives? looks like I can use all the help that I can get. :-( Peter
Hi, when I press "home all" extruder stops exactly on the end switches (outside of the bed) and it does not the move close to bed as video shows at 2:13 .... It does not even know, where center of the bed exactly is. What should I do? Thanks :)
It's for 149.89 - 155.99 dollars. I'm updating coupons on this site: couponsfromchina.com/2017/03/02/anet-a8-3d-printer-eu-plug-active-coupon-price-gearbest/ I hope this may help you th-cam.com/video/Ml1XGhJF4_E/w-d-xo.html
hey can you help me out When i start the print he says printing but after a short time he starts again preheat pla (I had already done it before starting printing) and after its heated he does nothing
Hi I'm stuck at 12:21, my micro SD card does not have a Print File - Manual - Test file.gcode file. I tried putting on other examples (box, baywax) but the extruder seems to just push filament out randomly. Am I missing anything? I've been following the videos step by step. Any help is much appreciated
Try plug ur sd card into your computer and move the gcode files out of any folders. If there isn't a gcode file, go to thingiverse.com and download something there. Make sure to try unmount and mount the sd card through the printer.
where is the on switch after you plug the unit in? I built it, when I plug it in the power supply lights up, and that's it. dark LCD screen... is there a switch to turn it on?
richardpchilson@gmail.com is address to send problem collection too. also could I get a simple yes or no answer to my question. is there a on button? thanks
Hey David thanks for replying. I found the solutions to my problem. Just needed to add red+. So anyone else looking, no on switch. Turns on when plugged in. Thanks
My projects are reversed (mirrored) in the Y axis. how do I fix this? When I home the Y axis, the bed moves forward. If it is a software issue, how and where do I make the change? If it is hardware, is there an illustration to show what I need to do?
I have the same problem....to get it to work I had to switch the wires for the x motor and y motor on the control board.. and everything prints in a mirror of what was sent to the printer.
Hi david i did evryting like a vidao and its move but few secende after its wirte my idle you can tell me what the problem thank you and sorry for my english
David Dan - ANET A8 Instruction Video 1 & 2 (updated version): I'm changing the grade to a "B" as the substituted power supply in my kit was not the same as in the video and therefore the power connections were not correct. US version 115VAC, be careful. LNG from L-R on terminal board. Suggest video 1 contain electronics power check before starting. Power supply green LED is on when 12V is being produced. No green power supply LED before connecting the main board = bad power supply or incorrect wiring. 115VAC power cord I received was Blue (L), Brown (N), and Yellow (G).
Hi, i printed 2 objects and they are perfect but i tried to print another and the filament wont stick to the heating bed, is there a way to fix this issue?
I've done all the steps and pressed print and my extruded just sits there, on the screen (yes it's preheated and everything's plugged in correctly) it will count up the percentage of the print and once it hits 100% it goes idle and the extruded hasn't even printed anything... Any advice
I've adjusted the extruder nozzle to a sheet's width from the bed, but the plastic won't stick. I see in this video, you're doing all your measurements with the masking tape still on the bed. Was I supposed to leave the tape on? It was damaged when I got the kit, so I had assumed it was meant to protect the plate, and could be removed - but it's looking like the friction is important.
Ok, yeah, that was it. I had some blue painter's tape available, and made a nice solid layer of it. The printer's spitting down a good-looking second layer now.
My Alunar 3D printer does not start. It had came on originally but when we replaced exdtruder and rechecked it would not start. Passes al;l other test. Help"??
Great video series, very clear and helpful,. I was able to build mine in one pass with no errors and no magic smoke escaping. One suggestion, and I am not being a smartass... Given the language and accent differences, the word 'The' sounds identical to the american way of pronouncing 'Z'. If you use the english way of saying it then there is NO confusion (US Z=Zee, English Z=Zed) again, not trying to be a smartass. just trying for clarity.
Hi, can you help me? I just assembled everything, the wires seems right, I turn it on, but when I hit "home all" nothing happens... Not a single motor moves.
I had actually installed the back plate backwards, the one the y motor mounts to. it was really hard to tell at first until I realized the motor was facing the wrong direction. Hope that helps.
My Y-axis motor is rotating backwards when I press the return to home button but it goes its normal direction whenever I do anything else, I don't want to print anything until I can be sure it is working properly. Any Help?
I've followed all the instructions but when I plug it in, there's no green light from the power supply. and it doesn't turn on/ light up the LCD display.. helppp, also I've checked the 220v is correct for me
Alright, this is upsetting me now. At step 4, my printer shuts down only one of the two motors, the other one keeps going. Plus, it makes some really freaky noises. Please help!
Guys i have same printer. Please use special tightened bed nuts (yes they dont loose itself). Or it will take ur life to adjust the bed. Also carry a scale to check x carriage from both sides. when u yhink the prints having a side not sticking or unlevel. Also use PLA with this printer, because it does not heat 240 and above and shows DEF signs. Please check that ur nozzle is aligned just a a4 paper thin away from bed. make ur z endstop one screw some loose so that u can adjust it with your fingers.
Hi friend, I have a problem with my A8 printer and when I put it to heat the coooler it lowers the rotation and it turns off what could be happening to it ???
I"M having trouble with the HOME option. If I press Home once the print nozzle is A4 paper from the bed, if I press home again it's 2mm above the bed. Once printing starts the nozzle is too far away from the bed. If I adjust the bed for the higher height then the nozzle strikes the edge of the bed. What do I do?
Thank you for the response David, however the issue is not the bed height, but the "home" height. When I press Home, there are 2 different heights. One touches the bed, and the other is 2mm above the bed. The way I had to get around this is by printing the test file and once the file started I shut the power off, then leveled the bed to the print head height. I don't think this is normal.
Sean McCann just install the SD card on the board , there is a interface for it . and choose SD card in the menu , and choose the file you have stored in it .
I've finished the assembly. Running through the Home All and the Z Motor 2 doesn't seem to want to properly function. My limited to moderate electronics knowledge, I thought maybe I had the wires crossed somewhere, which I found doesn't matter on the board. I've since switched them back to their designated slot. Though, when I have z motor 1 unplugged, z motor 2 works with no problems. I did the same for z motor 1, and it works fine without 2 plugged in. Once again, I plugged both in and z motor 2 doesn't want to work properly. I did this a few times. Do you know what the problem could be?
I had the same problem. Check the order of the cables arriving at the left and right z motors by looking at the colors. Mine were swapped on the left motor cable, which was different than all other stepper cables at the motor connection. When you find the mistake cut the cables, strip the ends and rewire them in the correct order. You can solder them or put them back together with some electrical tape. Good luck!
Nice to have a video with voices!
Good video, mates.
I am 100 % happy with your product
- fast shipping
- good quality
I will buy another
thank you
Thank you :)
At first I didn't like your video but it was the only video that really helped me level the bed and start printing. Thanks kid and keep up the great work. Merry Christmas.
thx for the tutorial, at first I thought that there were some parts missing but everythings fine and all the questions were answered in the comment section.
I bought my printer a short while ago, used 1 day to assemble it, i never touched a 3d printer before and only know computer electronics and ive got it up and running but havent been able to print yet;
my problem was that the temperature and x-end was switched; i think it was different setup in the video but when i compared the cables to the picture on the backside of the box for the motherboard, i found my error and i got it to heat up properly. i have yet to print anything but at least i have it ready :)
a few differences i noticed was f.ex the pre-cut hole in the plate for the backside of the monitor for the GPIO pins. thats a great change if i was to connect a bigger setup for the printer.
i like the changes to the motherboard as well for the power, nozzle heater and bed-heater were they are setup with 2x screw and 1 of the green tower things.
looking forward to printing upgrades for this machine
Great video, got mine all set up but no filament coming out says it’s heated up and it starts printing but nothing unless I push filament through HELP if you could offer any advice would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks for this tuto
My first 3D printer, only 5 hours to build and strat first print thanks to you \o/
Nice job :)
Thanks David for this video. It is very helpful. Your english is good and I can understand it well.
The first things you need to print are:
1. A filament reel arbor holder so that the reel spins more smoothly around the axle.
2. A 360 degree cooling nozzle so that your prints end up getting better quality.
Handy video. I had to fiddle a bit to get the Z limit switch at a workable height and was ready to go thereafter.
Best, what I still miss is the explanation of the commissioning (on youtube) of the 3d printer & tweaking here by far the parts fit perfectly and any materials perfectly also the out put on the youtube are very clear!
Greetings Frits Verbeeten
Hi friend , we have commissioning video , pls check in my page . Thx for support :)
thanks david
Frits Verbeeten never mind :)
My anth a8
does not work well!
Setting of the extruder is probably not good, How do I fix this?
I think too much plastic comes out of the nozzle. (Too much extruding)
Also the nozzle rubs (too hard) against the workpiece.
How can i change that? On the LCD screen do I think?
Please inquire about it
Or maybe you have a link to how I change it?
friendly greetings from The Netherlands!

fantastic, i just completed my build and everything is working fine, realy a nice maschine, thx guys, i will keep an eye on your company and see if there is more intessting stuff u provide
Does it also slide hard when

1O1ZERO I noticed it during assembly so the unit was off the whole time. The sliders move freely when the belt is off so I guess it must either be one of the lateral wheels/pulley things or the motor itself. I just ran a quick diagnostic test and the unit seemed fine.
Thanks to this video series, mine worked first try.assembly was well shown and I am searching for those 3D items to improve performance.
Thank you for a very good video, just finished. And am printing now. Had trouble with SD card had to format to 32 fat . Thanks again

Bro, thank you for this video. You did your best and it was mighty helpful.
Hi David, thx for this great video. I've assembled my new anet a8 over the weekend, but since then i'm stuck with a problem. Leon Mans I read your comment about how you can't use your pla ... well I read somewhere on the internet that you are supposed to use abs as it works better
Hi David, thx that problem was because of the heatbed plug that was faulty. Everything ok now.
Good news to everyone! Anet A8 3d printer mainboard upgraded for great users' experience!
thank you sir! just what i needed to get started after assembly
thanks i watched this just after finishing building my printer. Helped a lot :)
I was able to assemble the unit with the parts provided and can now continue to the next video (Powering Up).
qué buen video compadre, cómo me molan las impresoras, quiero imprimir Yodas en 3D sin talento
Thanks for the quick response as well.
Thank you very much for good information.
Hiya David. Any clue why this happens?
i had this problem, check that the stop switch is actually getting hit by the X-axis motor. adjust the switch all the way to the end of the bracket
Here is what I did :
Before change :
- Motor X plug on X connection - > X Pos. Fast = OK working good (Extruder moving left or right)
- Motor Y plug on Y connection - > Y Pos. Fast = KO not working (Heatbed not moving)
After change :
- Motor X plug on Y connection - > Y Pos. Fast = OK not working (Extruder won't move left or right)
- Motor Y plug on X connection - > X Pos. Fast = KO working good (Heatbed moving front to back)
As you described the problem is comming from the mainboard but the printer is brand new. It should be working fine, doesn't it ? Are you providing anysort of guarantee please ?
Malhodauh Contract the person who you buy from
do you have a different model or why didn't you pull the foil off the acrylic?
Hello. I just bought a second hand Anet A8. Where can I found the original test gcode file?. Thanks.
Hi David at the 1:35 time when I hit QUICK SETTING then HOME ALL it goes all the way left then moves to the middle and goes down and stops with 0.5mm above the bed then moves all the way left.. How do I make it move like in the video. (going all the way left then down with 2.5mm above the bed). help would be greatly appreciated David
hello my question is my wires the came with my power supply is diff color WHITE GREEN AND BLACK ... which one is which
Hi David,
I have leveled the heatbed to 2mm all over, the nuzzle however keeps running into the print! Please advise:/
Hello David,
I just deleted all the data I had on the SD Card (factory settings etc.)
Could you please let me know where I can find them ?
(Part list missing?)
Anywhere I can download these files?
Do you know if the Melzi v2.0 motherboard is an outdated version of the one you have in this video, or just from a different manufacturer? thx
How many screwdrivers did you get through on this build? Mine broke after tightening the second screw!
I followed your videos and when I finished assembling it and plugged it in it didn't want to turn on and I checked the connections and everything seems to be connected properly but still nothing
I noticed that you removed the fan nozzle during printing! Is it supposed to be the right way?
hi, What is the problem ...
Great videos,
I have only 10m of ABS filament, will I be able to do the test print with what I have?
Thanks.
you can make it with a little 3d model
you can make it with a little 3d model
+David Dan is the test print small?
no, just your filament is limited. it doesn't matter. you can test print anything
Thanks!
Did you make sure to stop the disable the motors in the quick settings?
Augman Yes, I did. I completely removed the motor from the printer to check. The motor cannot be turned smoothly by hand like the other ones so it's definitely defective. The printer is still able to print so I guess I'll just have to live with it until the new one arrives. I don't expect the Chinese company to send me a replacement. But hey, the printer is otherwise fantastic. I also ordered a leveling sensor and I'll be installing Skynet V2 soon to enable auto leveling. Cheers.
Hello, mine A8 is all mounted but it does not mount the SD card or have the option 'print file' on its screen.... what should I do? Thanks!
Thank you
Where can I download MicroSD content?, mine it's missing info such as the manual file, and the test.file.gcode.
i need it too
Hi, I have assembled the printer completely however it does not turn on. I live in NY our power supply is 110v and I changed the settings to 110v before turning it on. .
check the files on the included SD card, there should be a power supply wiring diagram in there, they have the yellow and blue wires switched to the opposite of the video, try that it worked for me.
Similar thing for me. In my case the instruction stated different order
of power cables on motherboard (Black was on the outer side, red closer
to extruder socket).
Edit:
After checking the wiring, I found that I had accidentally plugged in the Bed wires to the end portion, and vice versa.
I wish I could help you, but I still have the problem, and am unable to fix it.
Hi,
Handy video, thanks.
I am having trouble printing files. The printer has no trouble printing the sample file but doesn't recognize any other file I put on it.
Please help.
Thanks.
Thank you so much!! I love china!! china no.1 !!
This is the exact configuration of the printer that I ordered and assembled. When I select to preheat the display reads
def / 240 def / 11
There is no indication that it is preheating, what should I check?
Step 1 . Click Reset , check screen.
Click Reset and check screen. The temp will turn to def in a second . If the extruder temp is -50.9 , means thermistor cannot detect temp.
Step 2 . Change wires of E_T , B_T port and click Reset , check screen
If Step 1 & 2 both shows abnormal extruder temp , you need to replace extruder thermistor; If Step 1 & 2 both shows abnormal hotbed temp, you need to replace hotbed thermistor;
If Step 1 shows abnormal extruder temp while Step 2 shows abnormal hotbed temp , or Step 2 shows abnormal extruder temp while Step 1 shows abnormal hotbed temp, you need to replace mainboard.
thx , I will try that. I did try to use the usb hookup but I do not see a response on the printer at all. What gives? looks like I can use all the help that I can get. :-(
Peter
Hi, when I press "home all" extruder stops exactly on the end switches (outside of the bed) and it does not the move close to bed as video shows at 2:13 .... It does not even know, where center of the bed exactly is. What should I do? Thanks :)
It's for 149.89 - 155.99 dollars. I'm updating coupons on this site:

Why didn't you take the brown tape off?
hey can you help me out
When i start the print he says printing but after a short time he starts again preheat pla (I had already done it before starting printing) and after its heated he does nothing
How do you turn on the extruder? I go to extuder and try to turn it on and can't.
My extruder wont heat up. I have bought 3 new ones and none have worked. I have also made sure that everything is in the correct spot. What do I do?
Hi I'm stuck at 12:21, my micro SD card does not have a Print File - Manual - Test file.gcode file. I tried putting on other examples (box, baywax) but the extruder seems to just push filament out randomly.
Am I missing anything? I've been following the videos step by step.
Any help is much appreciated
Try plug ur sd card into your computer and move the gcode files out of any folders. If there isn't a gcode file, go to thingiverse.com and download something there. Make sure to try unmount and mount the sd card through the printer.
where is the on switch after you plug the unit in? I built it, when I plug it in the power supply lights up, and that's it. dark LCD screen... is there a switch to turn it on?
richardpchilson@gmail.com is address to send problem collection too. also could I get a simple yes or no answer to my question. is there a on button? thanks
Hi friend , accroding to my experience , gmail will reject the firmware as spam. can you give me other email ?
Hey David thanks for replying. I found the solutions to my problem. Just needed to add red+. So anyone else looking, no on switch. Turns on when plugged in. Thanks
:)
Just got a great tip. Plug it into a surge protector strip and use the button on the surge protector to turn it off and on.
would setting the voltage 220 instead of 110 in the usa, fry the motherboard ? thanks
No idea, but why the fuck would you do that anyway? The national standard is 110 volts.
Nathan Caggiano well.. like myself.. he probably didn't see the switch until it was too late. the assembly video I watched made no mention of it.
Hi david
i did evryting like a vidao and its move but few secende after
its wirte my idle
you can tell me what the problem
thank you
and sorry for my english
Not a single motor moves.
hey sry to bother but my printer doesn't print....alll seams fine but it doesn't take the step to print
can u help?
Hi,
I just finished assembly, BUT, my Y axis is moving in the opposite direction than it should during the homing operation. How do i fix that?
Hi james, check the port on mainboard , be sure you have connected the port correctly .
James Pike switch the stepper motor connector the other direction
David
i have same problem
the port is ok
how switch the connector?
I had actually installed the back plate backwards, the one the y motor mounts to. it was really hard to tell at first until I realized the motor was facing the wrong direction.
Hope that helps.
James Pike me too
My Y-axis motor is rotating backwards when I press the return to home button but it goes its normal direction whenever I do anything else, I don't want to print anything until I can be sure it is working properly. Any Help?
Hello! I have the same problem, did you find any solution?
I've followed all the instructions but when I plug it in, there's no green light from the power supply. and it doesn't turn on/ light up the LCD display.. helppp, also I've checked the 220v is correct for me
I just put together the A8 3D printer and red light comes on but the screen wont light up. Is there a start up pattern I'm missing.
Hi Fred,
Pls give me your email and I will send problem collection& solution to you
Alright, this is upsetting me now. At step 4, my printer shuts down only one of the two motors, the other one keeps going. Plus, it makes some really freaky noises. Please help!
Nevermind, the END switch was in the wrong position!
Help, my y-endstop is not working. How do i fix it?
hello, I followed the tutorial but the rooms are a print upside down on the y axis?
Guys i have same printer. Please use special tightened bed nuts (yes they dont loose itself). Or it will take ur life to adjust the bed.
Also carry a scale to check x carriage from both sides. when u yhink the prints having a side not sticking or unlevel.
Also use PLA with this printer, because it does not heat 240 and above and shows DEF signs.
Please check that ur nozzle is aligned just a a4 paper thin away from bed.
make ur z endstop one screw some loose so that u can adjust it with your fingers.
hello.
my y axis carriage moves in the opposite direction when I home my machine. what should I do
We do NOT have the option for "Print File" on our printer, why?
Hi friend, I have a problem with my A8 printer and when I put it to heat the coooler it lowers the rotation and it turns off what could be happening to it ???
Hi. Do you have the firmware of this 3dPrinter?
I"M having trouble with the HOME option. If I press Home once the print nozzle is A4 paper from the bed, if I press home again it's 2mm above the bed. Once printing starts the nozzle is too far away from the bed. If I adjust the bed for the higher height then the nozzle strikes the edge of the bed.
What do I do?
Sean, you need to adjust the 4 angle of hotbed to the same level.
Sorry David, one more thing. How do I print directly out of Cura and not off the SD card in the printer?
Sean McCann just install the SD card on the board , there is a interface for it . and choose SD card in the menu , and choose the file you have stored in it .
hi, my printer don't detect the sd card there is not print file on the lcd display why?
Hi~ I have a problemI asembled anet a8 but I don't know how to work .stl fileg code file works well but .stl file didn't workplease help
What should I set the voltage to in the USA??
110v
The menu screen offers a on off for extruder but when I try to turn it on it wont I cannot get the extruder feed motor to run
Good luck!
dave plavi were you able to figure it out what the other guy said didn't solve my problem
No calibration for x and y?
