I saw this when it first aired and have occasionally searched for it in the modern age. He built it up for a week or two prior, including his planned guests for the night. Don’t recall if he ever aired it again, including anniversary shows, other than a few seconds in the opening montage. Agree it really WAS campy!
I purchased the Nudies Rodeo Tailor Hat that he was wearing in the skit so I found the DVD with the skit to have with it, as I couldn’t find it online!
@@jeepdriver85 I was in the audience that night and it was as much fun as you could imagine. Unfortunately, if memory serves, Desi Arnaz got left in the green room. I’ve bragged about this for 45 years, finally have the proof! Thanks for posting!
Johnny Had Soo MUCH CLASS* He Was One of The VERY BEST ❤️ MAY HE REST IN PEACE *** HE IS MISSED ALOT**** I WATCHED His Show Every 🌃 Night Back ❤️ Then * So Many Memories*
Also saw when it aired. My husband and I laughed soooooo hard!! After a hard days work it was a joy to finally sit down and relax to some real comedy. He was a pro and is deeply missed still after all these years.
@@danb2337 Being a Boomer I was raised on Johnny Carson and The Tonight Show, but I had never seen this particular skit before. How could they have allowed this completely unfunny skit to air? Sorry, nothing funny here, Mr. Carson.
@@MrMenefrego1 from my understanding when Carson hyped up talking bout it all week and the night before, he rehearsed this he didn't do it funny. On the day of shooting he got wind that writer was in the audience coincdentally Johnny tensed up. One reason he hesitated first coming out when the music started. When came out he started off normal but nervousness and tension got the best of him and the song got jacked up and went along with it because when he gets funny it eases up a comics mention sometimes. You can hear it in his voice when jumbled some words. It wasn't ment to be funny but the nerviouness got the best of him and went on instead of stopping. Maybe it's the reason he never wanted it reaired.
Johnny really sparkled--and he didn't need the rhinestones!
Suit looks good on him.
Brilliant. Love the cowbell from Doc. I miss Johnny so much...Thanks for posting.

One of TV's great moments. The set up from the night before was key to this.
This program aired on March 4, 1976
So funny when he falls off the burro, and the burro just stands there. 😁
I remember watching this when it aired and laughed so hard! I think it was seeing him come out on the donkey! (I'm guessing it was a donkey)

Campy. .smells after 3 days...

This skit is so bad!
Maybe I don’t have a sense of humor but not even vaguely funny.

It is, but I like the “outfit”
except for the hat
@@MrMenefrego1 I believe he had lost a bet, and this was how he had to fulfill it.
