Did she create a second Bird Beast in that moment that is tied to her soul? I do wonder if we will ever see what is going on in her head. Also if any being could end Eda's curse, the Collector is most certainly the most likely to be able to that we have met.

I get why. If I were a raven I’d be pretty salty that owls get falsely advertised as the most intelligent birds when that distinction belongs to ravens (and crows).

Turns out she had a spare portal the whole time, she just kept it a secret out of selfishness
I love how the main plot of this episode was basically a warning against anti-vaxxer mentality and homeopathic medicine. Also, the scene where Gwen goes off on "Wortlop" is freaking badass!
Well not really homeopathic since they can be helpful, but none of it is helpful for drastic things like broken bones or whatever. It wasn’t really trying to say anything is wrong, but to just use logic rather than looking for miracle cures
Ah, you've finally got to the introduction of Luz's evil twin from the parallel universe where she met Lilith instead of Eda and ended up joining the Emperor's Coven. The showdown when they finally meet at the end of season 2 is so damn cool.
She came from Mars to harvest human teeth to power her time machine. Her goal is to go back in time to stop her world’s atmospheric apocalypse that wiped out all life, including her people.
Additional changeling fact: Some people believe that "changelings" were how the ancient people explained autism, as the symptoms typically begin to become apparent in children around 4 years old.
For some reason, I always forget about the big reveal at the end of this episode. Who knew that Shadow Luz, introduced here as a completely minor character, would wind up as THE main antagonist of the series? It was actually completely unplanned, to boot!
It’s crazy how Reality Check Summer camp maintains it’s 100% success rate by banishing all the weird kids to the demon realm and replacing them with Shadowalker doppelgängers. Truly, Tibbles’ greatest scam yet.

When a human touches the portal it creates a duplicate of them on the other side. So the Luz in the real world is the original Luz, and the Luz in the Boiling Isles is the copy. Her name was just spelled wrong in the letter because she had a friend at camp writing them for her after she broke her arm.
One of Luz' best qualities is her desire to help. It is also one of her biggest flaws, which I think is wonderful storytelling. Just WAIT until you see how her attempts to help Amity go awry - I can't believe they actually fought that giraffe!
Don't forget she also has a tendency towards self blame even in situations where she is not at fault or has done far more good then harm. (Episode 1 of season 2 is a good example)

I think this episode shows part of the reason why Lilith never told Eda. Besides Eda running away, she might’ve been afraid of her mother hating her for hurting her favored daughter. I’m glad that at the end their mom realized that, despite having the best of intentions, was hurting her daughters

(At 6:50) all Lilith did was reduce the effect of the curse on her sister, by taking half of it into herself as atonement. And due to that, they're both no longer powerful witches.

I came running as fast as my internet allows me to Also Eda's mom is from the beast keeping coven, I think it was mention as one of the tracks Viney wanted back in Luz's first day of skull. Viney was the girl with a fishing hook in her ear btw ;) Edit: the BK coven's sigil is a bird-like creature hatching from an egg in its nest. Enjoy your time with King while you can before his Dad comes to take him away. That episode about the custody battle between king's Dad and Eda was a surprise dive into some courtroom drama that I didn't expect from a kids show.
Man, I remember seeing all sorts of wild theories (including a popular one that sounds just like the changeling theory you brought up) back when this episode first aired and in other reaction videos, but this is the first time I’ve ever seen someone guess a basilisk! It’s a cool idea, but idk if that quite fits, since the one we saw in 1x13 still looked pretty similar in both their “witch” form and in their true form.
OMG yes, the outro music hits as nostalgically sad to me too. I honestly think it's just the tone of the music or something. I would specifically describe it as "nostalgia for something you can never return to", which makes me worried about how the series may end.
I really like how they get you to really care about all the characters and how they explore different aspects of their lifes Makes it just oh so much more sad when everyone dies in the final episode
I loved this episode for its exploration of Lilith and Eda’s relationship with their mum, establishing how long-held situations (Lilith having to be ‘self-sufficient’ because Gwendolyn was focussing on Eda) can affect people well into adulthood, and it doesn’t just get put aside as ‘childish’. Plus, the conspiracy theory angle on how Gwendolyn had her dedication to curing Eda manipulated by years after years of crooks…neatly done. Spoiler: Luz grows her hair big enough to carry things in!
you know at first I didn't thought much of the Beast Keeping coven. But this episode made me realize how OP it is as so much of the Boiling Isles technologie and infrastructure is based on various kinds of demons that can clearly be controlled through beast keeping. That's honestly such a cool twist on a pretty classic fantasy power
Ah right, our first look at Beta Luz here (although obscured it may be). A bunch of material from previously unaired pilots for the show had a fairly different version of Luz's character before they finalized with the loveable iteration we know today, but Dana still liked the older pieces enough that she found a way to bring in this 'alt' version to coexist in the same story. You'll go crazy over how they meld eventually to increase their magical abilities.
Honestly, at first it was kind of a letdown that the imposter ended up just being an illusion by Gus to protect Luz, but it's grown on me after a couple rewatches. He's a good friend
It's so shocking when we find out Lilith has a mutated variant of the curse that causes hives and the possibility of key lime disease. Only an act of true hate--not love, hate, ingeniously subversive--can cure it.
Ah, now she gets to the point where it's revealed that the real Luz never left the human world and the shape-shifting Luz is the one in the demon realm, such a mind twist when it's revealed at the end of the 2nd season.

this episode was really sweet and sentimental. lilith and her mom’s relationship was really sweet in the end and i appreciate it. not many shows have family issues where they end up actually getting better and i love dana for that. i also absolutely love luz for wanting to help ms. clawthorne and try to get eda close w her mom again because she misses her mom. if i was luz, i’d do the same thing. i can’t imagine not being able to hug or even see /talk to my mom. overall, this episode made me really emotional. i loved it and i hope that we get more like this.

Also now you know the truth: Kikimora has been traveling to the human realm to impersonate Luz. Not for any sort of nefarious scheme or anything... she just really wanted to go to summer camp and it just spiraled from there.
About the nostalgia from the outro, I definitely feel that too. This show and Amphibia both. Also, if you're a huge Zelda nerd, you'll probably dig Amphibia's once it gets a ways in. There's definitely some influence there.
Just because you probably haven't seen them yet, there are shorts for The Owl House called "Owl Pellets" (they can all be watched here: th-cam.com/video/4AeOCBycFbc/w-d-xo.html), and there's also a short that was cut because it was "too scary", but the storyboards and voice lines still exist (found here: th-cam.com/video/e-p0SW8fo14/w-d-xo.html). They all happen in-between "Escape of the Palisman" and "Senses and Insensitivity". There's also some other audio shorts that happen in-between S02E10 and S02E11, but they include spoiler-y stuff, so I won't post the link right now. They're really good, and enhance the story a bit.

Since you mentioned not being sure of the plot of CATS I thought I’d say: I believe I’ve heard the plot is basically one cat gets chosen to be reincarnated (or “go to the Heaviside layer”) so most if not all of the songs are the cats basically saying why they (or someone else) are the best choice to be chosen that year.

The soul of the owl is still in Eda, I think, but some of its power was siphoned to lilith allowing it to be shaped bu her soul. (My best explanation)

Edit: the BK coven's sigil is a bird-like creature hatching from an egg in its nest. But I liked the sound of an ice cream with a straw better

In retrospect it's pretty impressive that Eda managed to keep the curse from King for eight years. Sure he's a little kid and probably wasn't paying too much attention but still.
Young Eda is played by Natalie Palamides. She's dne a lot of voice-acting roles over the last few years but probably her most prominent one was Buttercup in the Powerpuff Girls reboot from... six years ago? Has it really been that long?

Man, I remember seeing all sorts of wild theories (including a popular one that sounds just like the changeling theory you brought up) back when this episode first aired and in other reaction videos, but this is the first time I’ve ever seen someone guess a basilisk! It’s a cool idea, but idk if that quite fits, since the one we saw in 1x13 still looked pretty similar in both their “witch” form and in their true form.
OMG yes, the outro music hits as nostalgically sad to me too. I honestly think it's just the tone of the music or something. I would specifically describe it as "nostalgia for something you can never return to", which makes me worried about how the series may end.
Next is the library episode, Episode 8 is a whole different BEAST, they call it Hooty and it has to do with his door

I loved this episode for its exploration of Lilith and Eda’s relationship with their mum, establishing how long-held situations (Lilith having to be ‘self-sufficient’ because Gwendolyn was focussing on Eda) can affect people well into adulthood, and it doesn’t just get put aside as ‘childish’.
Plus, the conspiracy theory angle on how Gwendolyn had her dedication to curing Eda manipulated by years after years of crooks…neatly done.

you know at first I didn't thought much of the Beast Keeping coven. But this episode made me realize how OP it is as so much of the Boiling Isles technologie and infrastructure is based on various kinds of demons that can clearly be controlled through beast keeping. That's honestly such a cool twist on a pretty classic fantasy power

Ah right, our first look at Beta Luz here (although obscured it may be). A bunch of material from previously unaired pilots for the show had a fairly different version of Luz's character before they finalized with the loveable iteration we know today, but Dana still liked the older pieces enough that she found a way to bring in this 'alt' version to coexist in the same story. You'll go crazy over how they meld eventually to increase their magical abilities.
Honestly, at first it was kind of a letdown that the imposter ended up just being an illusion by Gus to protect Luz, but it's grown on me after a couple rewatches. He's a good friend
It's so shocking when we find out Lilith has a mutated variant of the curse that causes hives and the possibility of key lime disease. Only an act of true hate--not love, hate, ingeniously subversive--can cure it.
Ah, now she gets to the point where it's revealed that the real Luz never left the human world and the shape-shifting Luz is the one in the demon realm, such a mind twist when it's revealed at the end of the 2nd season.
I don't think I've seen any other reactors catch onto the details this well

this episode was really sweet and sentimental. lilith and her mom’s relationship was really sweet in the end and i appreciate it. not many shows have family issues where they end up actually getting better and i love dana for that.
i also absolutely love luz for wanting to help ms. clawthorne and try to get eda close w her mom again because she misses her mom. if i was luz, i’d do the same thing. i can’t imagine not being able to hug or even see /talk to my mom.
overall, this episode made me really emotional. i loved it and i hope that we get more like this.

About the nostalgia from the outro, I definitely feel that too. This show and Amphibia both. Also, if you're a huge Zelda nerd, you'll probably dig Amphibia's once it gets a ways in. There's definitely some influence there.
The voice actress for Gwendolyn was one of my college professors for a Voice Over class. I actually have a signed Owl House poster from her.

Just because you probably haven't seen them yet, there are shorts for The Owl House called "Owl Pellets" (they can all be watched here: th-cam.com/video/4AeOCBycFbc/w-d-xo.html), and there's also a short that was cut because it was "too scary", but the storyboards and voice lines still exist (found here: th-cam.com/video/e-p0SW8fo14/w-d-xo.html). They all happen in-between "Escape of the Palisman" and "Senses and Insensitivity".
There's also some other audio shorts that happen in-between S02E10 and S02E11, but they include spoiler-y stuff, so I won't post the link right now. They're really good, and enhance the story a bit.

Since you mentioned not being sure of the plot of CATS I thought I’d say: I believe I’ve heard the plot is basically one cat gets chosen to be reincarnated (or “go to the Heaviside layer”) so most if not all of the songs are the cats basically saying why they (or someone else) are the best choice to be chosen that year.
