I know everyone is here because of Lumity, as am I. But can we please, also appreciate the excellent character development of both Gus and Matt in this episode?
It is excellent! I always forget about that element when I get excited for someone to react to this episode because of the ending. Then I watch the reactions and they without fail start with immense dislike for Matt, as I’m sure every single one of us did as well, and thinking the Glandus kids were awesome. Like Gus’s version of the detention friends Luz made. And then by the end of the episode pretty much every reactor finds Gus and Matt’s playful bickering adorable! And now I’m bummed that we’ll never get that one Matt side plot Dana mentioned.

This is the first episode where any member of the main trio is absent. Eda doesn't appear, while King only has one line. Which, I do like King's one line! It shows his friendship with Gus, which is something I really like in spite of how small it is. King and Gus are the youngest among Luz's friends, they're both very smart for their age but tend to be underestimated anyway... They've got some stuff in common. So it's nice to see them be friends, too. You know, I don't think I really understood how strongly people reacted to Luz and Amity before watching your reaction to it... Huh. You know, maybe I shouldn't be surprised by that, all things considered. Yeah it's kind of insane just how good this show got. It's got plot, it's got mystery, it's got sweet found family stuff, it's got comedy, you know full well what you freaked out about, it's got well-written characters... There's so many parts of this show that are just done right.
I love that it's slowly becoming clear that the twins had it out for Amity because she was acting like their mom, who we now know is awful. That's not an excise for treating their baby sister like that of course, but Amity finding her own path has made them even more supportive and protective of her. The twins were old enough to see the flaws in their parents Amity wasn't ready to until recently, but they're also kids themselves and misplaced their resentment towards mom on Amity as the easier target. It's so nice to see that cycle being broken and all the siblings standing together.
Really good point. These r also kids who have been conditioned just like Amity has, and Amity acting like their mom at times where they’d hope to have some freedom and were told on essentially told them that their sister also couldn’t be trusted. They have no way of telling their mom off, but they can for their sister. Of course, it’s not like their behavior was ok either, they simply were putting their energy into the wrong places in pure rebellion. I think that cuz they went too far one time, they realized they shouldn’t be like that and changed to act be better, like Amity was, as well.
I'm so glad I introduced this show to my dad. Got a crush on Lilith (it was so cute Lilith's dorkiness reminded him of my mom😭) and immediately felt paternal love for the kids. We both cried and laughed watching this show and I'm so happy I could share it with him

However, she first told Luz the story time was for extra credit...which is probably true because it's likely the only way she could convince her mom to let her do it.
Gus's power is legit terrifying. He can trick his enemies into doing whatever he wants under the pretense that they're doing something else. He can make them think a battle is going one way when it's actually going another. He can basically manipulate anyone's psyche until they go insane. There's a reason why illusionists are always terrifying in these kinds of shows which is why I'm surprised that they aren't held in higher regard in this verse.

The way she says "farewell forever!" like she is in such a panic is so funny, I have watched her say that about 100 times. The implication of her being so embarrassed that she actually made a move on Luz is all the vibes of that period of youth that I remember.
Sad thing is Amity probably could have just introduced Luz to Malphas and avoided the angst altogether. I get the feeling he would have been fascinated and eager to help. But you know, teenagers. In any case as refreshing as it is that they didn't drag out the will they won't they I do miss "Luzbian Disataser" Amity. It was adorable.
@@lonelypancake5979 for she ra the only thing in the way of that relationship was their trauma. Luz and Amity aren’t as severely traumatized as those two, and their trauma didn’t involve each other. So they could instead help each with their respective problems/trauma as a result, and be able to come together cuz of it.
@@ma.2089 The trauma, plus the fact that they were on opposite sides of a war for seasons 2-4 (Yes, I know the separation happened in season 1, but I think the true rift between them didn't happen until after the "Promise" episode).
I can't be the only one worried Mosco is just gonna straight up faint before this season is over. Particularly with one incredibly beautifully animated scene, I'm sure you all know what I'm referring too. Will be entertaining though :D
I love how Amity's siblings are supportive and blasé about the kiss. I appreciate how it's no big deal unlike how many shows draw attention and make a big deal out of representation finally normalizing it instead of dramatizing affection. I also appreciate how each person is strong at the beginning, but how Luz really encourages them to grow and seriously up their game.
Mosco I remember back at the start of 1x15-when you were still trying to cling on to the Cupcake Grudge by the tips of your fingers-and you first saw Amity’s natural hair color and you got excited thinking she was a redhead like you. Now Amity has your bangs!
About the Galderstones: Their name is a reference to old Norse magic (from the Viking Age/early Medieval period) "Galdr" is one of the main forms of magic practiced by Norse sorcerers (often, somewhat inaccurately, referred to as Völvar) who were almost exclusiely women. We don't have many details on old Norse magic and how it was performed, but Galdr seems to have involved some sort of magic singing and is probably the closest to what we'd consider "spellcasting".
I love Gus. He gets so many episodes to shine and he doesn't need to get character development, he just goes from good to EVEN BETTER! And of course, Lumity.
“This show isn’t going to kill a child off. It doesn’t seem like that kind of show” I like your take on this. I would also like to add my addition of fake spoilers. Belos is going to kill all of the children at Hexide to get back at Luz
@@booksandbutterflies2151 Don’t you remember? Bump sacrificed himself to protect Hexside from Belos’ ascension. The scene where Willow goes home and finds that her dads have been petrified…
I just realized, in escape of the palisman Bat Queen was feeding books to her babies and telling them to consume the knowledge. In this we have the echo mouse who absorbs the information from books it eats and is able to replay it
So Luz’s first Spanish line (before the forbidden stacks) is: Don’t worry. Everything will be fine. Second Spanish line (after Amity gets fired): Nothing will work unless you make it work.
What’s interesting is if you notice when Luz looks at Amity right after the kiss on the cheek, she’s looking down slightly at her lips. That’s probably part of the reason Amity freaked out and ran away lol. A cheek kiss is enough for one day 😂
I love Lumity, but it's a pity that witch kisses are venomous to humans. And when they realize it right before Luz passes out to the venom, Amity's face is pure angst
Don't Know why those reactions of yours give me so much joy, I still can't stop smiling! It's like watching the episode for the first time all over again
Mosco @ 30:14 ... Heart too "Ice Cold?" Too Ice _Cream_ more likely! All soft and sweet and melting from the warm fluffyness. (And we love to see it! Stay awesome, just as you are!)
Just imagine. This episode was an entire ~20 minutes of Luz and Amity flirting with and blushing furiously at each other, culminating in Amity all but confessing her feelings for Luz and kissing her on the cheek... and this DIDN'T make the list of episodes you were recommended to premier. Let your imagination run wild for those that did.
It's a little more Luz and Amity focused because I got blindsided by it! But I do have a lot of things to say about Gus!! Mostly when we see his MASSIVE illusion at the end!
Huh. Ive never once considered the Galderstones were meant to be gall bladder stones. Thats really funny and plays into how every single one of these little things work, like how the knee is so high up it gets snow because of how massive the titan was that it slightly having its knee raised reaches snow height
I can't believe we're only a few episodes away from the episode where Luz makes a new portal that's not entirely stable. I still can't believe that Amity gets trapped in the empty space between the demon realm and human world forever when all she wanted to do was see a real human library. Now Luz feels guilty for not testing the portal more before rushing their date.
The Calderstones are six neolithic sandstone boulders remaining from a dolmen. The galdorstones may be named after the real-life Calderstones, possibly combined with galdr, an Old Norse word for a magic spell. PS: Oh, look! A wild knee hamish! They can only be found on the wilds of the Knee in the Demon Realm.
So my Spanish is a bit rusty but I believe Luz before she clearly went back into the library (nothing will work unless you make it work) the phrase is said before Amity lead her into the forbidden stacks was something along the lines of (you can always find another way). Also nice Bleach reference I always loved the various applications for different Banki.
Loved the reactions, especially to the gay, loved the thoerizing and discussion and many pauses and the editing on the kiss was PERFECT. Too many things to praise about this and I will be rewatching it a lot.
The end of this episode is absolutely adorable and I love it too!! Love seeing Gus gain new strength in his powers and a new friend ❤️ Also, a fellow rodent-lover here. I’ve owned several mice, rats, hamsters, and a few rabbits. Rats are my favorite, surprisingly much cleaner than the others. Thank you for another fantastic reaction, loving seeing your journey through this stellar series!!
Oh wow, I think that’s the earliest I’ve seen a reactor catch the Bria twist! For me I first got suspicious at the bug line, but once she grabbed the first galderstone and just carelessly went “oops” when a piece of the statue broke was when I knew. I was like oh, she’s fine with destroying obviously historical artifacts and doesn’t even try to be careful with them. She’s bad. Also when Gus said this was a graveyard and Matt immediately dropped the stone he was holding is when I figured out that he’d end up being the good guy out of those kids.
@@theatheistbrony9332 Wow! You know that was one spoiler I thought people would keep quiet. It's such a left field moment unless you've been paying attention.
Did you notice how powerful that fire spell was, Gus used? He cast a illusion circle before using it, so I think that Illusion magic actually amplifies other magic.
The spell circle itself was an illusion. Glyph magic doesn't have an upper limit beyond the will of the user. As Luz says: "You have to know what you need".

This episode had the ending censored in some countries.
yeah, this one I was disappointed on how it was censored
Wow.... girls aren't allowed to kiss each other on the cheek anymore, platonically of course, coz we all know they're just VERY GOOD FRIENDS.
@@WeeLassReacts It's _totally_ platonic 🎶🎵
@@WeeLassReacts “and Disney will call them… close friends, besties, roommates, colleagues”
@@ArkadiBolschek “little miss perfect - thaaatsss me” lmao love that song
The way she says "farewell forever!" like she is in such a panic is so funny, I have watched her say that about 100 times. The implication of her being so embarrassed that she actually made a move on Luz is all the vibes of that period of youth that I remember.
Amity went from mean green. And to purple cuteness 💚💜
Most people think Amity was better green
Sad thing is Amity probably could have just introduced Luz to Malphas and avoided the angst altogether. I get the feeling he would have been fascinated and eager to help. But you know, teenagers.
In any case as refreshing as it is that they didn't drag out the will they won't they I do miss "Luzbian Disataser" Amity. It was adorable.
Looking at you She-Ra.
@@ma.2089 never though of it that way… huh.
It's easy to miss, but the deep voiced kid's dad was Warden Wrath form the first episode.
An episode with next to no King, and you still found it painfully cute.
That’s how good this show is
“This show isn’t going to kill a child off. It doesn’t seem like that kind of show” I like your take on this. I would also like to add my addition of fake spoilers.
Belos is going to kill all of the children at Hexide to get back at Luz
You said "fake spoilers" and they spoiled a real one 😰
@@goodoldfashionedloverboyy oh no I did??? Guess I forgot
(Lol)
Me reading this and remembering that the kids at Hexside are the only ones left alive after the Day of Unity.
@@booksandbutterflies2151 Don’t you remember? Bump sacrificed himself to protect Hexside from Belos’ ascension. The scene where Willow goes home and finds that her dads have been petrified…
@@Meshakhad ohhhh right, sorry it’s been a while since I rewatched it
I just realized, in escape of the palisman Bat Queen was feeding books to her babies and telling them to consume the knowledge.
Unless I make, Luz talks about her
What’s interesting is if you notice when Luz looks at Amity right after the kiss on the cheek, she’s looking down slightly at her lips. That’s probably part of the reason Amity freaked out and ran away lol. A cheek kiss is enough for one day 😂
Yes! The episode that broke the sapphic internet! Our screams could be heard around the world!
Probably my favorite line in the whole show:
"You always have a way of sneaking into peoples' hearts."
- smooth line, Mittens
If you pay close attention to Liz’s eyes when it zooms out after the kiss, she’s looking at Amity’s lips
"You little RAT!"
- Everyone when Disney shortened season 3.
Loving all the Luz appreciation. I feel like main characters rarely get enough love, which is sad, cuz she's such a great character
Can we talk about good a friend Gus is?
Despite getting the opportunity to hang with those kids he wasn’t willing to ditch Luz?
Your reaction was right up there with Elijah’s, I love it.
I would say it's unbelievable how excited I am for this episode, but I'm sure you can very much believe it
(At 3:40) Willow must have explained to Gus about Amity's crush.
I love Lumity, but it's a pity that witch kisses are venomous to humans. And when they realize it right before Luz passes out to the venom, Amity's face is pure angst
Fun fact: Bria (the purple haired girl from Glandus) is voiced by the internets own Felicia Day.
Still can’t believe Mattholomule is actually Steve’s half-brother
one of my favorite things about Luz is her protective nature. her friends where upset (no details) and she goes "who hurt my babies?"
As for Lumity human world shenanigans, I always love the fanfics where Luz shows Amity non-boiling rain for the first time.
Same.
Same
Those fanfics are amazing 🤩
translation:
11:50 don't worry, everything will be fine
21:40 nothing will work unless you make it work (típico consejo de mamá latina 👌)
The thumbnail is everything haha!
I think I exploded something in my neck, fuck knows what it's doing at the right side hahahaha
19:30 The boss when you fight him vs the boss when he is a playable character
18:17 eda found her portal in backyard of her parents house.
In s3e1, there's a 7 year flash forward where Luz and Amity get married and have three kids: Azura, Lucy, and Amelia.
(At 6:24) these must be the "other kids" from his old school he was talking about.
I’m curious too know how much this episode is going to be about Gus and his adventure and how much is going to be about Luz in the library
It's a little more Luz and Amity focused because I got blindsided by it! But I do have a lot of things to say about Gus!! Mostly when we see his MASSIVE illusion at the end!
@@WeeLassReacts Still suprised they got Felicia Day to voice the villain in this episode.
Well, now you know XD
And the Cotton Candy Haired Goddess appears!
21:00
Poor Highland cow, he was drag into it 😂😂
I’m going to answer your question 21:58 I don’t know Spanish but I have the translation “nothing will work unless I make it work”
Huh. Ive never once considered the Galderstones were meant to be gall bladder stones. Thats really funny and plays into how every single one of these little things work, like how the knee is so high up it gets snow because of how massive the titan was that it slightly having its knee raised reaches snow height
Your reaction was perfectly edited. Seeing how people react to that kiss scene is one of, if not they best part of any Owl House reaction.
What she said roughly translates to “nothing will work unless I make it work”
I can't believe we're only a few episodes away from the episode where Luz makes a new portal that's not entirely stable. I still can't believe that Amity gets trapped in the empty space between the demon realm and human world forever when all she wanted to do was see a real human library. Now Luz feels guilty for not testing the portal more before rushing their date.
"I'm reading too much into this", they say, three seconds before being proven right
Ah yes, Bus, the ship that set sail and sunk in a single episode.
That "No, I think you got that covered" makes me laugh every time
So my Spanish is a bit rusty but I believe Luz before she clearly went back into the library (nothing will work unless you make it work) the phrase is said before Amity lead her into the forbidden stacks was something along the lines of (you can always find another way). Also nice Bleach reference I always loved the various applications for different Banki.
Loved the reactions, especially to the gay, loved the thoerizing and discussion and many pauses and the editing on the kiss was PERFECT. Too many things to praise about this and I will be rewatching it a lot.
Hamish may need overtime pay for what he is in store for later in the season.
Ok I’m not going to lie the blue screen of death “your Mosco ran into a problem” had me gasping for air I was laughing so hard
(At 25:10) is anyone going to ask "where are her gloves?" Because I'm pretty sure her barehands weren't showing.
I like the requirement of the Invisibility glyph to be holding your breath. Which makes it powerful but not too overpowered
Everyone’s brain short circuits at the kiss when they see it for the first time ❤ 💜
So sad that this is Amitys death flag, one kiss and then killed of by Disney 😭
And it was extra weird that she was killed when Hooty made his bad-guy turn wasn't it?
No you can't just say that lmao
@@theatheistbrony9332 Wow! You know that was one spoiler I thought people would keep quiet. It's such a left field moment unless you've been paying attention.
There's still a chance if Luz using magic to bring Amity back. Albeit as Zombie Amity
This is just so adorable, exactly how I reacted. And well the rest of the fandom as well. I was waiting for this episode. I love this series.
Made me tear up *again*
Can't believe owl house invented gay people
Did you notice how powerful that fire spell was, Gus used? He cast a illusion circle before using it, so I think that Illusion magic actually amplifies other magic.
The spell circle itself was an illusion. Glyph magic doesn't have an upper limit beyond the will of the user. As Luz says: "You have to know what you need".
@@Janoha17 Yeah, but she means the details of the spell. She can't just make it super powerful.
I love how your brain just imploded at the kiss, this whole series is full of adorable moments
A 404 error is when something is not found, does not exist. Not only you easily find "gay" in this episode, but it's quite abondant. The more you know...
Probably 300 or 302 would have been better then
@@willowarkan2263 While semantically appropriated regarding my comment, I'm afraid it does not reflect the errors that occurred in the brain of Wee Lass when it received such a huge payload of gayness. HTTP doesn't seem like the appropriate protocol here.
@@King-cc8uz so an exception maybe. something like GayBufferOverflowException. So the owl house has a chance to cause that exception. so viewers need to catch and handle that exception when running the owl house on new viewers, or not and enjoy the show.
If we want to stick with http, 413 payload too large might work.
Or 418, for fun. We could go for server side errors like 507 insufficient storage. Maybe 508 for loop detected if she is stuck in a gay loop?
