I dont mind the general tech vibe but i do prefer the jazzier line of tech. More reminiscent of the early tech death like atheist and cynic. Less like necrophagist. And no diss to necro. Just most bands took that tech approach

It’s crazy being from Arizona and knowing these guys as the band that went to the high school nearby. Going from Doom to now a band I can truly respect and be proud of saying I’m a fan. Sunspeaker and Moon Healer are literally on par with Death or Necrophagist. Seriously top notch proggy death metal.

I only ever knew these guys for the pig squeal stuff from their earlier days. I avoided the band thinking they were as one dimensional as the kids who enjoyed that aspect of the music. Man I'm glad I was wrong. This album has incredible depth. Technical without being mathematic or compulsively so..heavy as you like but without feeling corny or forced. Full of grooves without being plagued by constant breakdowns. I'm glad I can appreciate this now.
Check out their last album Sun Eater; it was when they shifted sounds. They also enlisted Danny Walker to write and perform drums on the record. He's the original drummer for Intronaut and one of the most creative the world's ever seen!

Same thing with The Black Dahlia Murder until I heard Brandon Ellis' playing. Then I went through the whole back catalogue and wow... I missed out on so much. I checked Sun Eater after realizing they weren't another Core band and listening to this one. Both albums are fantastic! Intronaut is also really good. I discovered them through Alex Rudinger and his incredible playthroughs. This guy is a machine. Cheers from France! 🍻
The little bass riff at 30:32 is exactly what i love about this band. They still feel fun and experimental with their music. The whole album has a deep bass groove that just keeps you flying through the songs. Absolutely love this one.

The sequence from 12:10 - 12:55 is so fucking good. That subtle change in tempo is so elegant. That whole track is an absolute lesson in great writing.

I'd have to disagree. Genesis was deathcore, and a little experimentation. Ruination was where they changed it up quite a bit. Then the member changes and Gloom is where they really changed and demonocracy (which is at the bottom of the list for me) sun Eater was fantastic and this new one is just as great.
Moon Healer album of the year. Job For A Cowboy never has disappointed and this just solidifies the reign of the Arizona kings. Nick Shinz is unreal on the bass with this album, simply monstrous. 🤘🔥

Halfway in and I know what I'll be listening to on my drives to/from school & work all week. How is it sinister yet so playful? So existential and omnipresent yet rife with dread? Mathematical and tight-fisted, yet psychedelic with wavy grooves. I just love you guys. There is purpose in your technicality. It's not absurd, It's trippy. \m/

They were both really popular back in their day but also weirdly hated by many elitists for their core beginnings. Didnt matter what they did. Their scores on the metal archives are whack. Thats wild.

This is one of the greatest albums i've ever heard in my life. Track 3 specifically is one of the greatest musical experiences I've ever had listening to the album. Grinding Wheels of Ophanim is one of my favorite songs ever now, it has to be. I just relistened to it, I still can't believe how good that song in particular is in an already amazing album. The ending of the forever rot really made me smile. I knew it was coming but after listening to the entire album that was a really great way to end it. Wow. What an experience

Holy shit this album is immense! So much amazing groove and heaviness. Also, the bass on this album is 10/10. Gotta love that sound. Almost sounded frettless at first but I don't think it is.
If you listen carefully to the very beginning of the first song beyond the chemical doorway, there is a pitch that climbs...it is what people hear before they blast off on a psychedelic adventure! Fucking love it! A sorrow filled moon, the guitar gives us those dimebag blues squeals...fuck this is soo good!

I'm really loving this album so far in my listen. It's interesting hearing them go from a Blast-heavy, in-your-face wall of brutality in the 2000s to a more technical, progressive sound here. I'm here for both!
This is one of the greatest albums i've ever heard in my life. Track 3 specifically is one of the greatest musical experiences I've ever had listening to the album. Grinding Wheels of Ophanim is one of my favorite songs ever now, it has to be. I just relistened to it, I still can't believe how good that song in particular is in an already amazing album.
The ending of the forever rot really made me smile. I knew it was coming but after listening to the entire album that was a really great way to end it.

@timperry2375 I hear you, but this album has to be on the top three this year and not two or three. 8 perfect songs, didnt over do it or made long songs, kept it fairly traditional, and the way the album flows is just natural. Also, the band to me has taken a massive step forward from the last album. From beginning to end, it traps you, and that's an excellent album from Job
Sun Eater sky rocketed to my fav album ever as soon as I heard it and so far this album is absolutely slaying. I'm so fuckin happy! Thank you so much guys, seriously.

If you listen carefully to the very beginning of the first song beyond the chemical doorway, there is a pitch that climbs...it is what people hear before they blast off on a psychedelic adventure! Fucking love it! A sorrow filled moon, the guitar gives us those dimebag blues squeals...fuck this is soo good!
