That's the sister friede experience. Phase 1 is the warm up, phase 2 is chaotic but phase 3, Blackflame Friede is desperate to kill you. She uses the blackflame to return from death in a last attempt to stop you. A dex/faith build, the power of the blackflame+frostbite damage and pure aggression. Her third phase makes pontiff sullivan look easy.
Tbf, atleast Sister Friede's first and third phase is exploitable. Just keep your distance and she'll keep using her jump attacks which is fairly easy to dodge (atleast compared to her close ranged attacks), and then that leaves her open to backstab. You can keep doing this over and over again
Haven’t seen anyone mention it yet, but a quick interesting fact about Friede/Elfriede is that Yuria of Londor is one of her 2 siblings! Congrats on beating such a great boss, and Friede may be one of those bosses you come to have a different opinion on over time. Take pride in the fact you defeated her! Can’t wait for next episode!

Sister Freide is one of the most difficult fights for me every time I do a playthrough. I've never seen someone not figure out to run after Friede when she disappeared in first phase. It is a free backstab or hits. Running away and panic rolling is the worst thing you can do. Like all Fromsoft bosses, you have to learn and experiment to see what works. In the second phase, best thing to do is divide and conquer and keep your head on a swivel for openings. I adore this fight so much and love and become terrified everytime I fight her. Good luck with Ringed City DLC, it's phenomenal imo

This reminds me so much of the first time I fought her, even down to the number of attempts. I finally beat her around my 25th attempt, but it didn't feel satisfying because phase 3 was still a mystery to me, but recently I decided to try it again (for a second time) and beat her on my third attempt. I saw openings I didn't see the first time. I'm sure it'll be the same for you on your next playthrough. The first time can be very intimidating.

Corvian village is one of my top 10 souls maps, small but full of little secrets.
Lady Friede one of the strongest bosses of the souls saga immediately after the souls camera angle.
Congratulations you did great, and in many fewer attempts than I thought. A big GG💪 I want to clarify, so as not to seem arrogant, in my first run Friede went down after 38 tries, so 24 attempts for me are an excellent result, very good! most of us arrived here the first time with more than a single +10 weapon think this..

Sister freida is objectively known as one of the hardest Fromsoftware bosses known to man. I don't make the rules, just report on them

It's crazy cus i've beated 80% of this game bosses including sister friede with a raw weapon on an old dark souls 3 version were raw infusions were way weaker as damage , i was not even aware of this until i saw one guy on yt with a raw longsword+10 as i use but with different damage in specifications lol
Ah yes... Sister Frieda, one of my favorites bosses of all time - I think I died around 30-ish times in this boss fight, good times.
BTW you did quite well at the beginning, you got to that second phase on your first try.

First of all, thank you for that intro in Finnish. This boss fight makes me remember of Lady Maria but, besides being more challenging (i love her fight and it's different stages but, Lady Maria difficulty level isn't very high) it includes an huge guy that brings all that madness in a tuff fight. I've to appreciate your honest oppinion about this boss. I also want to say that long videos like this it's better to be released on Fridays so we have all the weekend to watch it.😇

Yeah, From Soft really did very well with this Boss! When first facing this Boss, you realize you are fighting a human who is very fast yet very weak. Once you figure out what she is doing, obviously much easier. Until you do, you have to face that Phase 1, every time and drains your mental will as you keep grinding your braincells up against a cheese grater, time and time again. Until you WIN that Boss!! Then you celebrate, because YOU are The Badass as you slap Miyazaki's behind with a zweihander, the flat side, you don't want to actually make him bleed. Nicely Done! There are videos (Gentle Needle) that show (some even view from above) what she is doing, and it is simply amazing, new technique, for that time. You have great resolve, you got it done and I appreciate your honesty, You know what you like and what you don't and there is great strength in verbalizing it, never apologize for your efforts. Thanks for the late, late night. Now get some rest, one more DLC left.

This episode reminded me of my first time in Ariandel. Brutal area, confusing, infuriating, rage inducing... I relate very well with that feeling when the boss reveals a third phase. It feels so unfair. It feels like an impossible wall to climb. And the "just kill me" moment, also relatable. This fight can really demoralize you. We all hate this fight, at least the first time we experience it. I did. Now it's my favorite in DS3, more than Abyss Watchers and the Princes.
About Sister Friede's invisibility: It is not random, it feels like that but there is a predictable pattern. I'll try to explain how it works When she becomes invisible, she will splash some snow. If the splash points to the right, she runs towards the left, and vice versa. But if the splash is big and goes upwards, you must turn the camera 180 degrees, and you will see another splash, like in 1:24:24. This signals the point she is. If you get close to her, she becomes visible again, and if you hurry up, she will be charging her grabbing attack, which you can interrupt with your attacks, and even can backstab her. In the time stamp I added, she goes visible not where the second splash happened because she was already running towards you.
Thank you Vaga! Yeah it felt impossible and unfair, didn't get that nice victory feeling but oh well, I'm happy it's over haha. And yeah I figured out that invicibility trick while editing. Still don't like it tho hehe.
Dark Souls 3 is the best game ever. I've already played it 300 hours in just five months and completely mastered the game. Now I'm about to start Elden Ring
Im not sure if you mind tips or whatever but whenever Friede goes invisible 95% of the time she jumps high up and lands behind you. The small cloud/smoke you mentioned is her jumping up. Just run back and she'll pop up allowing you to interrupt her annoying attack. Gotta pay attention to the audio aswell, you can hear her land behind you everytime. Rewatch the video and you'll hear her land behind you lol Anyways, I enjoyed the video! Can't wait for upcoming bosses!

btw u can hear where she jumps once she disappears (first phase) and you can rush her while she charges (super long charge :D ) and attack her / interrupt the charge
I remember the first time beating phase two, no flasks left, and then seeing her get back up. My heart sank. It felt like it was impossible.
Take pride in the fact that you beat her solo. Not a lot of people can say they did.
The last boss of the next DLC is simply 😙👌. Impossible not to enjoy it - I'm sure everyone here would agree.

This may be chaotic, but you made it through!!! Sister Friede really challenges you when it comes to being a third phase boss. Throughout this game you have encountered only bosses with two phases, so she surprised you, just like she surprised all of us. Awesome job Meiru!

I'm sorry that your first experience with her was not so enjoyable, I hope (I'm pretty sure) you will like her a lot more during challenge runs, where you understand this fight better.
I beat all those games multiple times and Friede has been always the pinnacle of Boss design in my experience, she basically set my current standards and expectations towards Bosses in this genre.
Either way, thank you for your massive work with this episode. It was still very fun to watch, I would give a lot to experience this fight and this game again for the first time... Can't wait for the rest journey!

ok ok so....12 deaths in and I totally change my mind. I thought I would enjoy this fight and it looks so fun to fight her and then the duo...but yeah a full health regen and dual scythe?! IDK anymore! but DANG I love these emojis I think you did an incredible job on the DLC and playthrough, even this boss was frustrating but truly highlighted you skills. and bring on the challenge runs! DS3 SL1 would be nuts with such little stamina but you could get it done

You did it! 🩵 This boss fight is hella long and dying at the third phase can get pretty frustrating. Especially if you're not the biggest fan of the boss itself. I personally prefer Ringed City DLC over Ashes of Ariandel. There are plenty of great bosses ahead and I can't wait to see you fight them. :)

Sometimes and for some people, ripping through a boss quickly isn’t as fun as giving yourself a challenge. I personally like smashing bosses but if it’s just a few hits and done, then it’s not really fun. But I also don’t want to punch them for an hour too. It’s getting a balance

Aw, I'm sorry you did not enjoy Sister Freide. But hey, you defeated her, and that is a worthy accomplishment! BTW, when you "travel to the Dreg Heap" that takes you to the second DLC. The next DLC does tie in story-wise to both the main game and the first DLC, which is why they let you move on to it after Sister Freide.

heh heh, sorry you didn't enjoy it more. There were a few boss fights like that for me in the DLC, super annoying/aggravating but once they were over I learned to shake it off and appreciate them, hopefully that happens for you too. I love friede, shes one of the coolest bosses in any fromsoft game I've played, from her entrance, to the music, to the 3 phases... she's cooler than Malenia but I like the mechanics of the Malenia fight more. Get some well deserved rest and do you best to ignore the negative comments!

Know why freid is one of the only bosses Miyazaki trolled by making you think you beat her with a slab? Because he chose her as hardest boss in game. For all newcomers, if you can beat this boss, you'll roll any other boss

Congrats on beating the game's hardest boss. Old hag says she's got nothing, not a smithereen. Sells the best weapon in the whole game. Weapon is called Splitleaf Greatsword and you would assume it's a greatsword, but nope, it's actually a halberd, lol. As for flasks, 15 is the max and all the shards are in the base game. One is on the rooftops with the angel knights. And i think the other is in the library with the wax heads, i don't remember if you found the one in there or if it's another one that you're missing.

The first time I played this game, I went into the DLC as soon as I found Gael. I made it to Sister Friede, and I died and died and died. I wasn’t even playing the game properly (I used a shield instead of dodge rolls). It was a ton of pain, but eventually became my favorite boss fights. It’s so much fun to go back and help others in co-op. I love these games.
I'll give this boss duo another chance let's say in 5 years and let's see then if I'll learn to like it 😂
