      @@thaifob1 weird I'm not Thai and I've been aware of this village for 30 years . I remember even back in the 90s this would pop up on news reports because of the high price of birds nest back then and also theft of nests. Murders and the like

    My wifes hometown , im from liverpool uk , my wife from Pak Phanang.
    I lived in Thailand for 15 yrs , spent about 5 yrs in Pak Phanang.
    I visit every year for 3 months , im actually going in 3 weeks.
    I love Pak Phanang and recognise some of the people.

      @@DayintheLifestories in all the years ive been there ive seen about 5 farangs there, i believe most farang in Nakhon Si Thammarat are teachers.
      Really enjoyed watching this .

    Very interesting. I like the Thai guy they interviewed. I do not see how the nesting houses hurt the birds either. Actually much better than disturbing the caves.

    You can find the building Throughout Southeast Asia. it is more profitable than building an apartment for rent

    I just live 1 Mtr. From a 4 floor birdhouse I have 2 floor I have make a wood balcony about 40m2 just before Covid time I just notice that I never have any no. 2 problem from the birds what a special snack 😮

    it's the same with my neighboring home here that the birds themselves feel at home and sometimes the nest had grown quite large that it fell off from where it was hanging

    I can imagine the stench is pretty bad but absolutely worth it as birds nest can fetch a pretty penny

    I kinda assumed edible bird nests were made of twigs and stuff but this makes more sense.

      They clean inside about twice a week, yea if they dont keep it clean it will rot.

    my cousin also have this it a lot money you can sell a container and make like 200k baht. The hardest part if you decide to harvest it yourself and you'll be in the in the room for hours on end in extremely hot temperature room plucking the sylvia.

      Yea Thailand is strange with its laws, these bird houses arnt really enforced, its technically illegal which is why most people are secretive about it.

      Yea I agree, the buildings dont look too great. The river here is quite nice, but its a poor area, locals either fish, farm, or do bird nests, so they dont care too much about the looks. Thanks for watching.

      Yea, if the nest is still there and in good condition the birds would use the same nest to lay eggs again.

    In the U.S. we can't lay much blame. We killed every single Passenger Pigeon and caused the species to go extinct.

    Once they raise the monthly taxes;they just evict the birds out than they will just rent out the coups as luxury apartments for humans and javk rent every 7 months up!😅
