    At the 8:27 mark where you are laying out all the measurements, you note that the existing pieced top is 27" by 36" so far. But if the quilt top is made from 5" squares and there are 6 rows of 9, wouldn't it be 40.5" by 36"?

    Hi Donna I haven't been quilting very long so any tips are really useful, I also live in the UK and to be honest quilting isn't very popular over here, although it is getting better. I love that tip of chain stitching the whole quilt, I keep putting the squares in the wrong place but now you have shown me a better way so in future I will be chain stitching not just the rows but the whole quilt. I love the quilts they are beautiful and I agree the bear is rather cute. Thank you Donna I do enjoy your videos. Laura

    • @debbieford8542

      i would say it's increased in popularity a lot in the last two decades. As in most things, it goes through cycles. I live in the middle of nowhere and there are two great groups locally. When I first started about 25 years ago, there was nowhere near the choice available now for fabric or tools, then again, it was a LOT cheaper.

    I loved this little quilt. My neighbor has two boys and they just moved up here in the mountains. These little animals were perfect. But! This is the second time I have fallen in love with a quilt and the kit. The last one was the "For the love of log cabins, the Driftwood" The kits no longer exist. So sad. I love your videos, your quilts and the fabric combinations. Keep up the wonderful work. Maybe one day I will catch the right pattern and fabric just right.

    I am making the charm pack quilt from your video and wondered if you have a video of how to do the back? I found your video on borders and binding. It looks like you cut the fabric into three pieces and sewed it together from your little diagram in the video. I also am so happy I found your videos this week. Your calm encouragement really makes me think I can do it!! Thank you.

    Just finished this quilt top with sone charm squares I had been saving. Mine are very colorful and I alternated them with a tonal white. It came out really sweet. I used a dotted print for the 2.5” border and the same white on the 6” border, since I couldn’t get to the quilt shop, and the fabric I ordered online didn’t really work. The white border was a little overwhelming, so I cut it down about an inch. Looks better. Am using some of the fabric I ordered for the border as a center panel on the back. I’ve never done this before, but again the fabric I ordered wasn’t quite right, so used the fabric I ordered for the border as the center panel on the back. New experience and technique for me. Very easy and fun to make. Am planning on making more quick tops like this, since our local fabric stores are closed and I have other really cute cheerful fabric collections. Thanks for the video and explanation. Have learned a lot by watching.

    • @jordanfabrics8380
      @jordanfabrics8380  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you split the smaller piece in half (along the fold line that is created when the fabric is on the bolt) and then stitch the two halves together making a longer piece. Then stitch this onto the larger fabric.
