Tony get in your shed and give it a makeover. Paint it and maybe extended it so you have a bit more room. Develop a bit of an area to store you onions and garlic etc ready for next year. Clean and Sharpen your tools and get rid of all the rubbish.
Tony, your mojo is not lost: it's having a rest. Your allotment brings encouragement to so many; perhaps on a cold and stormy day you should look at a few of your previous videos when the allotment looked glorious, and where so many of us shared the delight. That will remind you of what a thing of beauty you have created - better days, better weather will come soon enough and the allotment will be a thing of delight to you, and to your followers. And someone suggested more flowers - they always lift the spirits!
Tony, I suffer from a lack of inspiration some days, Things I was passionate about before my triple bypass now seem a slog to get into, I was warned this often happens after any major surgery and depending on your natural normal mindset, it can take a lot of getting back into your mojo. I even lost interest in my motorcycle, I felt like I had won the World Cup the first time I went out for the first time. With pressure from her indoors and my kids,I invested in a newer bike and I am loving it especially as she can now come with me. Looking back at 2023 i am so chuffed with what we achieved, completed the flagstone base & built the greenhouse which had been in the garage for over a year during my recovery. SO stop over thinking it mate the sun will shine soon and we can all get some inspiration from that. as the song says Some things in life are bad They can really make you mad Other things just make you swear and curse When you're chewing on life's gristle Don't grumble, give a whistle And this'll help things turn out for the best And Always look on the bright side of life Always look on the light side of life
Hi Tony, we all get tired of gardenong sometimes, it's normal. Especially in the winter months too. Im sure you will find your mojo & get inspired. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
I'd take that other allotment on and either fill it with potatoes, or build 2 large polytunnels , 1 for tomato, 1 for chilli, and the other for volunteers
I would take photos of the cardboard with all the signatures on it and get them reproduced into pictures. Hand one in your shed and one in your study/plant room for a permanent reminder of the lovely kindness shown to you 🤗
Always low in the garden department this time of the year ,but come spring and new year we're all up and at it again. Keep the faith Tony. It's good to be alive.❤
Tony i love your videos so don't take this the wrong way i don't mean to offend as you say you are excited about the polytunnel and you will have great banter the coming season with JB on growing chillies etc in it. And for the outside beds i think the main problem is the banter from the late great gentleman Steve you miss the motivation that flowed from his veins any other winter the two of you would be bouncing of each other with various plans for the allotment . i don't know how but this coming season i think you need to add someone like Steve to your videos to give you a buzz about growing your vegetables again . My opinion only hope i haven't offended
I don't think you've lost it Tony, a lot of gardeners get a bit down in the winter, it will come back. I have a few raised beds and I don't plant anything that doesn't earn its keep. Why don't you think out of the box maybe do a raised bed dedicated to chinese stir-fry as I know you like cooking.Looking at the enjoyment you get from the polytunnel why not invest in another one, this will take a lot of work out of the allotment. Years ago I was at Bishop Burton horticultural college and our tutor always said enjoy your gardening but never be a slave to it as it gets you down eventually. Love your videos Tony really enjoy them.
I'd start with a good clear out of that shed. It's an indoor project for grimmer weather days and could do with brightening up. And don't waste those onions! Turn them into caramelized onion jam which is sumptuous and we'd love to see a video on that. Then how about some planning videos with sketches of what and where you might plant things - newer gardeners often skip this bit and we never had the benefit of our own Steve to bounce ideas around - you're our Steve! What would you grow again? What wouldn't you? What would you like to try next year (most of us don't have polytunnels so it's the outdoor beds we're going with. How do you get them ready?
Inspiration always comes with the Spring :). But, consider adding a nice seating area back where the raspberries used to be, where you can sit and look out over all your hard work. Add a little cooktop for a teapot and a nice chair, some shade over head, and side table. All work and no play makes Jack ..... well, you know.
Keep it up Tony. Im just starting chemo and you inspire me to get to my plot. We are lucky enough to have a distraction. You will get your mojo back. So keep planning and happy gardening.
🥦🍅🥕Tony, you have encouraged me so much this passed year. I now have a 12 foot by 4 foot vegetable bed. I sowed broccoli, spinach, beetroot, carrots, garlic and peas in October. It is all growing and it has all been because of you. In the new year, we are making another one the same size and maybe a third one. Can't wait to start again in the new year but your thoughts and planning of your own plots are needed as I follow you. Hope this comes as an encouragement and not as pressure. 🥦🍅🥕
Draw a planting plan and adjust a few times! Sort out those onions, chop up the good ones and freeze. Process the garlic and make pucks and freeze, so convenient
Take the other plot on and get volunteers in again and slowly tidy it up ...and then make it into a wild flower /herb garden / fruit orchard and cooking area... Paint and organise the shed. Lots to think about.
Hello Tony what about making some plastic covered low tunnels on raised beds in your garden in the area where you have the logging area ( maybe along the wall) it would provide a place for a nursery bed for seeds in the spring which would allow a head start. Also some beds that would be easier to look after during deep winter and not have to travel to have some winter salad etc, and also like in the heat of summer other crops, chillies and cucumbers, the wall would radiate stored heat from the day, so you could also maybe build a lean to greenhouse even. Lots of potential for videos and convenient being in your own garden. Hope this gives you some food for thought maybe. I do enjoy your channel and I’m glad potty mouth is back 👍😊
Why don't you grow lots 3:21 of flowers this year Tony? Still keeping your soil in tip top condition and will look and smell beautiful,💐🌼🌺🌹🌸 bouquets for the house and local care homes,.sheltered housing or hospitals would give you a nice worthwhile feeling 😊
I've found that cooking with this years harvest has really perked up my mojo and got me planning for next year. After a summer of feeling pretty poorly myself I have only just made my jams, having frozen the blackcurrants, redcurrants and raspberries. A nice risotto using the summer bean harvest and managing to scare-up a couple of leeks and some carrots for the Sunday roast has reminded me that home grown is definitely best.
Tony iv got lambs lettuce, all year round lettuce, red cabbage, rocket, cavolo nero kale, broad beans, pak choi under my grow lights, I think my broad beans need too be put outside now they are about 2 foot high.
Hi Tony. I feel exactly the same here in Northern Ireland. Blustery weather, and dark, cold days. How can you get inspired? Then I remembered Steve's video last year about sowing seeds on Boxing Day. I watched it again yesterday, which led me to Potty Mouth 32, which I also watched last night - in full. So, it's onion seeds for me on Boxing Day in Steve's memory. Whatever onion seeds are in my seed box will be sowed then - in the way that Steve sowed his - and lets see what happens!!!!
It’s the winter blues. Once the weather picks up and the sun comes out you’ll start your sowing again and get your mojo back. You should do your shed up so you can sit inside and enjoy the fruits of your Labour. Plus you will be re evaluating your life after your illness which is natural. Take care.
hi Tony! Merry Christmas snd Happy New year! wishing you snd the family all the best in '24! I have been missing you and just rewatched this one. We are having a very different winter here on the 🇨🇦 Prairies...... dry, minimal snow! Expecting the garden to be hard hit by the freezing temps we expect this week with no snow cover! And the poor wee creatures will be hard pressed too! Any way, I hope you have found a spark of enthusiasm for the spring planting! Sending love and hug! ❤️🇨🇦❤️
This is the time of year, when all beds that are not producing at the moment are rejuvenated and covered for the next season. You’ve more or less done that. The next thing is to sort your seeds and order new ones. Then plan your sowing and planting dates, and allocating beds for each crop. Before you know it, it is Boxing Day and you are sowing your onions. Then it’s New Years Day and you are sowing your chillis and peppers. After that, seeing these plants grow, you won’t have time to be unmotivated. Get stuck in… Happy gardening.
What you plant and grow is 100%better than supermarket crap and it will be the best thing to keep you alive and kicking into old age....... if you don’t use it you lose it bro. Love from Dublin 👍❤️🇮🇪👍❤️🇮🇪👍❤️🇮🇪👍❤️🇮🇪👍
Its 4 days away from the start of winter and I am about to loose my mind wanting to plant something. I am going to start some onion seeds with you all on Boxing Day. Just 20 or so. It will be about 2 weeks early for me but I'm doing it in honor of Steve. Im in Illinois in the Sates and obviously never met him but have watched many of his videos and in the last couple of weeks subscribed to the potty mouth channel. I have went to the beginning and watched all of the before and after show videos and am 11 episodes into the actual shows. Watched the newest couple as well. Steve was a character for sure. I have lost my gardening mojo at times in the 30+ years Ive been gardening, but as spring approaches, it always returns. Take care Tony and I cant wait for the new episode of Potty Mouth!
Tony, you’ve had a rough year. It can take quite a while to recover from that kind of stress mentally. Maybe you need joy. What does that look like for you? I would grow a few veggies I couldn’t live without and plant the rest in flowers. Then I would spend the summer in a straw hat stretched out on a chaise while the bees buzzed about me. That’s how my joy would look. You could try a theme like all Italian varieties. For that matter, you could concentrate on your tunnel and just cover crop the beds outside. I have had years of recovering from stress where I put my garden into a holding pattern. Nothing wrong there. Maybe when the sun shines on your face this spring, you will feel revitalized. Good luck to you!
It's the short days and mostly gray skies. Stay indoors with gardening books and catalogs and hot teas. When you do go over, clean repair sharpen your tools. Don't push yourself right now. Your body is probably still healing anyway.
Hi Tony, you have had grief and personal trauma this year, give yourself a massive hug for how you have come through both. Remember you're amazing, alive and appreciated. Whatever videos you choose to do, we will love. Food vids always appreciated. Lots of love, enjoy Christmas, coastal walks and burning all that lovely wood you foraged. Merry Christmas x❤
Tony I'm the same ,the weather and just the tasks ahead seem overwhelming , but I know as soon as the first nice day in spring comes ill be excited to get going again , glad Gordon managed to get the bike finally but I need to do a huge makeover on my veg garden in the spring so fingers crossed the weather is good for us
I read through all the comments so far and there are a lot of great ideas here. First I would clean out and organize the shed. I think that would e the best first step.
It’s called the winter blues, where it’s depressing coz it’s cold, wet or frozen. Therefore it’s shed time or burning diseased & old wood time to make potash for the tomatoes
Dear Tony, I think you are perhaps stuck in the winter doldrums. Everything is pretty grey here on the prairies too. It is a very different turn of the year here for us too. .unseasonably warm and dry. Maybe it is a time to clear out, clean ip, and refresh. Brush some sealer over that board everyone signed. set it up where it will remind you of all those who care about you. have you filled any beds with spring bulbs? maybe just spring clean your shed, and sort out some hangers for your tools, a build in new shelves for supplies. ? someone suggested extending the shed to accommodate drying off the onions and potatoes.. etc what a great idea! Or just build on a sheltered area with a windbreak and roof and potting bench? Maybe a stool for you to sit and watch the garden grow! Everything seems a bit flat... Perhaps a permanent trellis and a winter blooming clematis would provide some joy for you? I know this is temporary, we all hit those bumps in the road. Take care! ..... oh, Good to know Gordon picked up the bike!
I would go through all the beds and do some maintenance on them and give your shed an uplift, possibly make a hotbed and some frames with enviromesh, just like what Steve did and try to warm up your soil.
Take a leaf out of JB's book. Take a flask and deck chair and sit have a cuppa, look through your seed catalogue. I bet you will be up and doing in about two minutes. You could try a rainbow challenge, how many colours of veg you can grow. Especially if you plan to cook on the plot, lovely plates of colour. X
Tony I suggest you get those onions and garlic sorted out and down to the house kitchen and then tidy the shed. I would also take some of those lovely sprouts for dinner, they cost a small fortune in the shops now. How about making some lists of veggies to grow next year and plan the beds for them. Most importantly, take time to rest and recuperate some more.
Spend some time out your shed..I’m sure you’ll find some things in there that might spark some inspiration. Have a look through some seed catalogs and plan your beds and what you like to grow/eat. Have you thought about taking that other plot on?
This time of the year I look at my garden journals and decide what I want to grow again (or never want to grow again, lol). Then I plan out my garden plots and order seeds. Always gives me a great feeling. Hope you feel back in the swing soon.
Everyone loses their garden mojo near the end of the season and especially through the first half of the winter. Just after new year, when there's a sunny day, you'll look outside and it'll all come back.
Watched last week's Potty Mouth yesterday and ordered my Potty Mouth onions from Grown local today, hopefully get them in time for the 1st. I agree with a lot of the previous comments, you're still getting over your operation and this is always a time for feeling a bit low. I'm sure when the sun comes out and the days are longer you'll get your mojo back.
On top of everything that’s happened this year and all the wonderful help so that it’s all done and ready for winter there is the winter blahs kicking in. It will all reset itself once spring planting starts. Do the sweet potato slips now and it feels like there is hope for spring. I can’t start mine for at least another 6 weeks 🇨🇦 last frost date here is June1st.
Winter doesnt just slow our gardens Tony it will be probably be what youve been through too sweetheart thats made you feel a bit low and unmotivated. Youve been through a traumatic event in your life but your mojo will come round again when the sun shines again im sure.❤ If it's any help you've inspired me to get up and get in garden to do jobs thats needed doing. Thank you 😊
I don’t know if you know Gaz Oakley who wrote a vegetarian cookbook where he cooks dishes with ingredients from his garden. Maybe look at his latest book Plants Only Kitchen and grow the ingredients for a dish. Just a thought.😊
How about getting us 'novices' fired up with your extensive knowledge to prep for the growing season ahead..eg sort greenhouse, plan schedule..and most importantly.. keep optimistic about the endless possibilities of own grown veg...you have the inspirational knowledge 👍👍
Tony I feel your frustration. Have you thought about visiting some of your viewers garden/allotments that are local to you and sharing your knowledge with them and perhaps learning a thing or two from them. How about organising a seed swap local to you. Or I’d even be happy to watch you cook some of the veggies you have grown. Favourite recipes section. How about some garden book reviews. Keep up the good work. Love watching your vids.
I often end up loosing my mojo - I go through phases of being obsessed with the allotment, and then complete disinterest. You will get your mojo back I’m sure!
Its very early to be worrying, I've onions in a bed that are growing great only I was bought a GH for Christmas and now I have to move that bed, I'm thinking can I put them into buckets or what? Going to put them in buckets and see what happens. Rest up take it easy Ton, from one ton to another some rest will not do you no harm, might just set you up for the new year. Take a break.
Get a few seed catalogues, take them up the plot, put the kettle on and dream. Personally, I am too busy replacing rotten raised beds to have time to worry about where I misplaced my mojo. I think yours might be at the back of the shed.
I think as you want to take it easy, I would maybe do some experimenting with the way you plant your fruits and veggies. Also write down a list for example 1 fruit or vegetable per month you really look forward to eating and that’ll help you decide what to plant 😊
Tony it was a difficult year for gardeners last year more failures than successes with the weather , but you have had an extremely difficult time this year with your health issues. I’m struggling to get motivated myself at the moment too , I’m thinking a break over Christmas and new year may get me thinking of sowing seeds in January and get me started on a new season . Meantime I’ve just tidied my greenhouse and looking after my overwintering plants. I’m sure you’ll get your Mojo back next year too Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you and your family .❤️
Hi Tone, why don't you grow some lovely dwarf columnar fruit trees in the bed behind your poly tunnel....the one with the brick wall ...Greetings from a Geordy lass in Germany
Hi Ton, I find having a “theme” for the season helps…so this year it’s all about the pollinators and encouraging wildlife! So my seed buying and planning has that in mind. Something to consider? Xx
Try the apparent chaos theory in a few vegetable garden areas. This is something that the no-dig follows up on. You plan everything together, but according to a system. This would confuse pests so that they do not sit on your plants. The creator is Frank Anrijs and in Dutch it is called Schijnbare Chaos. Maybe this will give you some new inspiration. Happy Holidays!
Hi Tony you've had a lot to deal with this year it takes time. I feel same way no interest at moment had new hip six months ago so been restricted as to what can do so frustrating we will get mojo back. Hugs from Shropshire enjoy Christmas with your family 🎉
I had a rotten year this year. My garden is usually my sanctuary but it became a burden. I have had to recognise my physical limitations with my health and also time. Next year I want to focus on quality not quantity, which is going to be tough because I am notoriously bad for getting carried away. I try to grow heirlooms and unusual varieties so I don’t get bored.
I always feel the same this time of year. Planning for me gets me excited draw the allotment out and look through the catelogues/online seed companys and find some new varieties. Colourful cartots dragons egg cucumbers snd unusal varieties of your favourites. I also love to buy different flowers to grow with the veg to get loads of colour to brighten things up throughout the season. Plan the allotments to have full beds as long as possible always having stuff ready to go in. Hope you feel ok soon love the content.
You’ll be back next year Tony! Have a very well deserved break if you feel like it. Love your vlogs……whether in the garden or chatting at home. Perhaps you could look at growing some different fruits or veggies next year to inspire you……there’s always something new to try. Have a wonderful,Christmas and New Year with the family. You need a new allotment buddy to chat to when you’re there, half the pleasure of an allotment is your plot buddies and cups of tea. Can you,get involved with the committee or similar where you are next year? Your sprouts look amazing I’m well jell lol 😂 love from here in Hampshire. Xx
Tony....get that shed sorted man....tidy it ,paint it ,clad the inside .then ye have a perfect kitchen ready for the tony to go next season.....master chef beckons
Allotment looks amazing Tony as it’s winter time , pottering around in your shed helps keep up your inspirations , merry Christmas, keep planning for the new season 🎉😊
So it's not just me. Things threw me off track, so I missed certain plants. I decided to just concentrate getting it all ready. Allow the cabbage, garlic, kale and such grow, but no seeds till Feb. Time out needed 😊
Have a good shed tidy and repair and treat the infrastructure a good few hours tidy up will give you the good boot you need, that and a bit of sun we will all feel better
Tony mate! I know exactly how your feeling! I had no heart in it all last year a and it was a struggle to keep going! No idea why! And to be 100% honest now, Im not feeling the love for it just yet, even though Ive been rearranging and improving my propagation station and have done a good job in sorting out my poly tunnel like you! There will be loads of ideas and thoughts coming in from your viewers so you can take advice and hopefully get your mojo back on track! Not to mention the fact that you`ve been under the knife recently, and its a crap time of year for the weather, so don`t panic mate! BUT, lol. I would get that shed sorted out, with tea making facilities and a biscuit tin hidden away. With at least a shelf you can sit at when you have a brew and chill out, maybe with a radio too. And that shed would make a good place to make video intros ect.... Your plot is in a great shape, so no need to worry about that. As you say there`s loads of time before that poly tunnel needs to be planted up. Get the seed catalogues out and get some seeds on order. Plus i have some saved seeds from some Peppers i grew this year which are in my top three favourite`s, so if you want a few of those seeds just drop me an address and i will get some in the post for you mate! But you mentioned outdoor cooking videos, well I`ve done two soup making videos which people seem to enjoy, and I`m planning on doing some quick cooking vids outdoors next season, just to spice things up a bit. So all in all I am sure you will hit on an idea to drag you back into the feel of things soon. But I`ve promised myself that next year I will mainly grow only the food I eat and not too much exotic stuff and concentrate on quality and not quantity. Chin up, Shaun. North Wales.
Tony, the sun returns on Dec 21st - and all gardeners are affected by that welcome event. You will find your mojo! Have a read of the seed catalogues - that's inspiration.
Tony, I think you are in the almost well stage of after major surgery. First off don’t panic! This is normal. You have had so many projects the last few years, they were pretty big ones too. The allotment next door might be a bit on the big side for a year after surgery. However, I have never seen an actual garden plan from you. You talk about “I’ll put this there and potatoes there”, and then change your mind. Why don’t you try a three season plan? Right down to where the flowers will do best for pollination. What needs some shade in our ever warming summers. Stretch your garden with a few more blocks of corn or grow some tropical greens like callaloo, that’s a type of amaranth. It’s delicious, I grew a red variety and when everything else was bolting I had these delicious tangy greens to eat. Make a real plan, on paper and everything. Then hit the seed catalogs and make sure that your order fits your plan, if not one of them has to change. I’ve found the best thing for my winter blues is a handful of seed catalogs and a hot cup of tea. I’m praying for you and so are many others. Just keep moving forward. Cheers!🎉
Hi Tony, Winter does this to gardeners, so don’t worry about it. It was interesting your walk around showing other plots and the great suggestions that you made for them moving forward. As a lot of people helped you recently, how about giving back and helping some of your neighbours? It might just be an hour a week, even get some of your supporters and sponsors on board. It could be as simple as getting some ground cover down. Just a thought, and it would be fantastic content. 👍 Keep up the great content.
Hi Tony, I lose my mojo once a year generally around early August but it soon bounces back after a while, my allotment is my life so would never willingly give it up. You have had a tough year this year and winter always is a struggle for gardners, but its TH-camrs like you that gets me through this tough season, and ready to sow in early spring with renewed vigour for another exciting season ahead
How about growing some Asturian tree cabbage - it comes back year after year, really easy to grow and super tasty. Take some work out of growing your cabbages! Xxx
As for future content: I always love creative experiments. Use of effective microorganisms and documention of results for example. Or mixing your own seed starting soil. How you harden of little seedlings and when to start planting them out. There's a lot that can go wrong. Whatever, i just love your jolly chatting, not much content required😂please keep going! You're doing a great job.
Plant a few beds with wildflowers, cosmos or sunflowers, little to no upkeep and just enjoy the simplicity. Enjoy your poly tunnel this year and let the garden take a backseat. Grow what you love to eat in some and keep the rest covered. There's no pressure to grow anything other than that you put on yourself. We'll watch you for the craic regardless 😂 ❤
Look at some seed catalogues at different things to grow try something hard to get thinking bout next season ❤ This time of year is hard to get any enthusiasm going apart from greenhouse or poly tunnel as that's what we can start growing in first. SO CANNY LAD CHIN UP as it's been a BIT of a YEAR 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Tony idea for videos why dont you take the "show on the road" and go out and visit other allotmenteers inthe the North East? Be interesting to watch. No good coming to see me yet as we only got ours in late July and have been getting it ready for next year.
You would be brilliant at this, your usual how to grow and then how to cook it. There are plenty of gardening channels out there but what is missing is what to do with your home grown veg. Not talking Gordon Ramsay or Delia but simple easy stuff. You often talk about what you do with your chard, olive oil, butter and garlic, so show us how. Even do it in the allotment, like you said on that old postie bench. Think of the new gadgets you could try. Also not just growing your usual veg but some of the more "exotic" veg, well for North East England that is. JB mentioned it once in one of his vlogs. Don't get too fancy mind remember keep it simple.
Hello mate. I think every gardener will appreciate what you're going through now, I certainly do. We can't all be "on" for 365 days a year, it's too much to expect. My allotment is under water at the minute, so it's not even worth looking at it. I get all the seed catalogues, pick out everything I fancy, then throw the list away and wait till February and do it all again. You're entitled more than most to a bit rest, put your feet up now and again, it'll all still be there when you get back.
Hi Tony ...this year I've decided to grow some new tomatoes ..the ones I've bought are short season and cold climate ..a lot are bush tomatoes for outdoors ..would you like a share ..maybe have a look at some new recipes calling for something you haven't grown before ?
ma6ybe look into in ground wormeries, bucket like things that feed worms and also your beds. then maybe a cu flower bed or two so you can bruing them home to the misses?
Could you interview other folks on your site? I love looking at everyones plots and asking their favourite varieties esp one one site qhere the aoul is the same but they do different stuff
Hi Tony the old feller looking down sure would say how about making Dahlia bed . You and Steve got me into growing my own a vegtables and flowers . I have just had a allotment plot for ten months now after waiting years to get one. I just like to thank you for all your content you two have given me .I will be growing Dahlia's in a bed next year or trying to. Keep up the great work you do Tony and hope you and all have a great Christmas and dont eat to many brussels 😀🌻🌻🌻
Have you thought about growing more unusual or rare things as a challenge or just to see what comes out... I'm going for the Bolivian hairy chilli as one of mine. Shown by Jason Pope @ Allotment of the dead .
SO stop over thinking it mate the sun will shine soon and we can all get some inspiration from that.
as the song says
Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best
And
Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life
Hi Tony, we all get tired of gardenong sometimes, it's normal.
Hi Tony build yourself a permanent carrot bed with a hinged netted lid filled with compost .....
🥦🍅🥕
I'm a fair weather gardener. Cover my two allotments up until after winter then start opening up things in March.
Time to sit and read through the seed catalogues Tony ! ❄☃🎅🏽
Love from Dublin
👍❤️🇮🇪👍❤️🇮🇪👍❤️🇮🇪👍❤️🇮🇪👍
Tony I'm the same ,the weather and just the tasks ahead seem overwhelming , but I know as soon as the first nice day in spring comes ill be excited to get going again , glad Gordon managed to get the bike finally but I need to do a huge makeover on my veg garden in the spring so fingers crossed the weather is good for us
Hi Tony , just a thought how about a war veg garden just growing staple veg like we did during the war .
Manure or kitchen scrap are good for soil conditioner at winter time.
Take on the plot next to you and put another polytunnel on there and the rest fruit trees/bushes :)
look at how Steve used to sit and chill , contemplating his next move.
Hey Tony, its looking really neat.
I think little 'patio' area edged with mixed herbs would inspire you and you can add the bbq area to it next year.
Youve been through a traumatic event in your life but your mojo will come round again when the sun shines again im sure.❤
If it's any help you've inspired me to get up and get in garden to do jobs thats needed doing. Thank you 😊
I don’t know if you know Gaz Oakley who wrote a vegetarian cookbook where he cooks dishes with ingredients from his garden.
U need an out door project lol maybe a brassic cage
You’ve had a tough year Tony. Keep going, we need inspiration!
Tony its that time of year im the same but i started growing thing in my big bedroom under grow lights and they are growing great
I just completely shut everything down in November cover beds etc and leave til spring I don't want to be there in bad weather just gets frustrating
Tony ,I hope you get your Mojo back. Lorna in Cramlington.-Merry Christmas to You ,Mel and the family not forgetting the dogs. 🎄🍷 💚🥦🥒🥬🫛🍅🌶️🧄🍆🥔🧅
I liked the Kew on a plate series Raymond Blanc .
That other plot... Just take it on then plant a couple of pumpkins and sheed the complete plot up... It would safe you so much weeds
So it's not just me. Things threw me off track, so I missed certain plants. I decided to just concentrate getting it all ready. Allow the cabbage, garlic, kale and such grow, but no seeds till Feb. Time out needed 😊
Sow chilli's and aubergines with your super7 trays and just enjoy not having much to do. Take care 😊
Cheers!🎉
Perhaps grow some flowers to cut could be something you do and even give them away ? Have a brew tart the shed up
Hi Tony, Winter does this to gardeners, so don’t worry about it.
Sounds to me Tony you need a whole new project . Maybe a second neglected plot to get stuck into?🤔 Although not as big as the next door plot.
Video ideas; You mentor an allotment newbie on the plot next door !
My garden is dormant. Just tidy up time and seed buying waiting for Spring. So gloomy.
Will you be sowing onions on Boxing Day? I'm falling out of love with the donkey work of gardening so am thinking of doing that to cheer me up!
Nice sprouts sir
Hi Tony ...this year I've decided to grow some new tomatoes ..the ones I've bought are short season and cold climate ..a lot are bush tomatoes for outdoors ..would you like a share ..maybe have a look at some new recipes calling for something you haven't grown before ?
ma6ybe look into in ground wormeries, bucket like things that feed worms and also your beds. then maybe a cu flower bed or two so you can bruing them home to the misses?
Two different veg for me this last year - chayote and sweet potatoes. Easy to grow and great in Mexican dishes!
