I saw it on PPV live. total "oh shit" moment when you see another guy that looks like The Undertaker and also uses his finisher on him. Lord of Darkness Undertaker is my favorite era, but Kane made him mortal. WrestleMania 14 was a great show too. WWF 1997 though was a very underrated period, probably cause it's not actual Attitude Era and they were still running it the old bad way.

@@Braylon1997 I don't think it made him look like a demon but alright. I did like the attire. As corny has said him and Prichard had like a Michael Myers kind of look in mind but McMahon had a superhero costume in mind. When asked about it McMahon said "this guy is burned and he is trying to over compensate for his short comings". That does make sense in reality as people do try and over compensate for things but a superhero outfit would have been 100% stupid. The outfit they chose was the superhero outfit but luckily it does NOT look like a superhero outfit at all. If it did it all would have been garbage. It looks cool. They had a cape for it too which he used once during a house show in Madison Square Garden but thank God they got rid of the stupid cape. So yeah Vince was going for a superhero look and thankfully for the fans it didn't look like a superhero outfit and it didn't come across to any of the fans that he was trying to look like a superhero. If they put like a big superman style logo in the middle with a big "K" instead of an "S" the fans would have sh*t all over it.

If I ever go to a WWE event again which I doubt would happen because it would be a waste of money. I can't even handle watching that trash on TV so going to a live event would just be a reason for me to get loaded. I don't even even drink very often. I drink maybe once every 2 years but I would have to be hammered to be able to handle that sh*t. Anyway if it ever happens I am DEFINITELY taking a "Bucky Beaver" sign. Apparently the Beaver Man himself scans the audience and has them confiscate any signs having anything to do with beavers. Haha I wanna see if it gets confiscated. Perhaps I would be a little less obvious about it and write something about a beaver but not "Bucky Beaver" exactly. Maybe just write something like "BUCKY" or a sign that asks "what Beaver wrote this". I would love to hear securities reason for why my sign is being confiscated.

Thank goodness Kane debuted pre-internet/social media. Had it happened today people would crap all over it. 'Why did he wait for the cell to be lowered and locked? Why wouldnt he attack Taker backstage or during his entrance? Why did kane have entrance music? How is he controlling the lighting?' And the inevitable chants of 'I-saac Yan-kem clap-clap-clap clap clap'. The feud would be rushed, they'd have one match, and then the character would be dropped. And in mid 98 Glen Jacobs would show up as himself wrestling as a jobber in wcw.

@@yoholmes273 he's right. WWE 97 has major significance. Hart turns heel so you get the US vs Canada angle. You get the formation of DX, the solidification of Stone Cold being a star, The Rock turning heel and joining the NoD. The attitude era starts, blood were in some matches again and you got three matches that you could say could be match of the year (Hart vs Austin WM13, Canadian Stampede tag match or Hell in the Cell). Of course WCW had the whole Sting vs NWO angle building up to fight Hogan, great cruiserweight matches etc. Wrestling fans were truly blessed in 97.

    • @richmiller8615

1997 was definitely a great year! In the WWF, we saw in that year the gradual transformation of that company from the Saturday morning cartoon era to what would eventually become the Attitude Era. By the time of the Badd Blood PPV, the transformation was really kicking into high gear. The whole timeline for this was late 1996 through early 1998, but 1997 was the year where most everything happened, and it was awesome!

I even told my friend earlier that day "I think Michaels is going to try to super kick Bret and Bret will duck and Michaels will hit Taker". I was basically right just replace the kick with a chair. WWF/E has always been SOOOO predictable. Its even worse now than it was before but it's pretty dang bad when even a 10 year old can predict everything you're going to do. But as a non wrestling fan he would naturally point out the part where it looks fake, mostly the punches. I was older than him and I knew wrestling was fake and I told him the fake prolong the match so they could do other stuff and when he could overlook that, he could have fun. When shawn got thrown off onto a table on the outside my cousin flipped his shit and like was woah! That was awesome. And from there on, he had respected prowrestling it didnt make him a fan but he respected it because I explained to him what prowrestling WAS.

Isnt it interesting how a character like Kane was created and he was a big character and was hugely over and you compare that to something similar like The Demon and no one cares and it doesnt have nearly the same impact. Yeah I know the Demon sucked compared to Kane but even if he was great WWE isnt as popular compared to 1997 so it wouldnt have mattered regardless.
