I was astonished by the prototype, especially the Bender symbol in the prototype board picture! It's great to see an Apple prototype come around, and when I saw the serial output, I was a bit confused, though I wish there could be prototype software on there. But, other than that, it's truly astonishing!
Those dummy parts definitely make sense for it being a prototype for drop testing… the haptic buttons are a neat concept and fit apple’s obsession with solid state hardware.
This is like 90% of games prototypes we build: just little sections to test some feature. We don't need to build a 10gb game just to confirm if the player jump is high enough. I believe the same is true to hardware prototypes.
This is proof that Apple actually thought about making iPhones buttonless. Now I just want to know if they actually thought of making portless iPhone or is it just internet speculation 🤔
They probably have and are waiting for wireless to become fast and efficient enough to warrant it just with the eu suing them so hard recently about their practices i doubt it will happen now
wouldn’t doubt it but i believe there might be another prototype we haven’t seen yet that incorporates the touch part for something weird we probably couldn’t even begin to wrap our minds around🤔
First video I’ve seen of yours and glad you make stuff like this! I appreciate your the excitement you bring to watching masters of their craft. Keep being you!
As a person who doesnt care about tech, I would love to use something special like tihs phone as their daily driver, much rather in fact then newest 16 pro or so..., I was fascinated by it from the start of the video and when i heard it identifys as Bender when turned on, which is my nickname in online games for many many years, i felt the need of it haha. Super interesting video!
Its partially true but this thing "Phone" it is actually not a phone it is repairing and serialisation tool for service centres. It has that parts actually not having a certain connections or the parts having just metal piece is just for the replacement and copying the existing serial and feed it to a new part. It is designed like iphone to keep it disguised.
Now I this is just a theory but I believe that the haptic button is a prototype of the iPhone 16 camera button. They might have been working on it and said “nah bro that’s a dumb idea but we already spent money developing it so. BEHOLD HAPTIC CAMERA BUTTON!”

Would it be possible to connect a 13/14 display to this phone? I'd like to see that in a future video! And what happens when its on and you press the buttons? Do they work?
Apple works by adapting its users to its hardware changes, before iphone x we got 7 with haptic button, and now we get a camera button that will adapt users to the idea of a possible volume button... at this point they are probably working on the iphone 20 features not 17...
I feel that even with a screen nothing would change, seems like a prototype made only for testing inputs from that almost solid state hardware and maybe to test the haptic feedback when pressing those buttons. I remember that Prj Bongo rumours revolved around using more Haptic Engines to make a convincing clicking feedback on the sides.
@@lbsiuk why do you assume that a boot loader needs to have a graphical interface output from that device? 🤔 How do we know this has a boot loader in a similar fashion to a fully fledged iPhone? It's clear that this device was intended to be used while connected to a computer.
Hey, I think you have to find some real working parts for this iPhone like a salvageable pieces and to try to get connected this like a proper working one with a nice display kind of like all those proper battery rear front camera is a proper screen you have to see the screen itself much rather than a blank screen which is on top of it
Being italian, my mind read "Vescica Piscis" instead of "Vesica Piscis" Now, vescica is the bladder and piscis can be interpreted as piscia, pee. I burst out laughing

@@R-E-D-A-C-T-E-D. it’s like saying „it’s not apple, it’s iphone”
This is a very exciting prototype, I have a feeling Apple was using this device to ensure the haptic buttons wouldn’t break easily from drops
It seemed to me more like refining the haptics since dummy components were used to preserve mass distribution
there arent too many iphone prototypes documented after the imfamous iphone 4 one, so seeing this is a proper treat.
All iPhone prototypes I've seen so far were prior to the iPhone X, it's so refreshing to finally get to see a modern iPhone prototype!
yeah
What happens if you connect an iPhone 13/14 pro display to it?
Exactly
yeah i thought that too
that's what i was going to ask too!
nothing will happen due to it not having an os because its a drop test demo unit maybe youll get some back light but not an apple logo
@ only one way to find out
How has the Apple ninjas not raided this guy’s house yet
Apple ain’t Nintendo. Nintendo is significantly more secretive about these things

Wow, an amazing prototype
Is the technology developed in project bongo used on the “camera control” button on iPhone 16 series?
Probably, or it’s based on the home button in the iPhone 7/8/se
this would have been created right after project bongo was leaked this is probably the only project bongo prototype out
@@FireFoxDestroyerI agree with you. In a way, the haptic home button never left.

Maybe this is one of the concept iPhones used to prove that features can work, made around the 14/15 transition.

How did I find your channel so late? This is amazing content! Did you ever find a storage module for your iPod Touch 1 prototype?
i wouldve LOVED haptic buttons man
At 5:15 you can see the button moving slightly when you press it, so is it really haptic or kind of a hybrid?
Lovely!! Thank you amazing content man!

I'm begging you to just connect regular 14 pro parts onto the board to see if it runs.
Maybe a sample for reporters or companies that make cases and protectors 😊
