I love hearing about the mistakes nurses make because it makes me a little less anxious. Much appreciated!

I have been an RN for over 20 years, and I, too, learned the hard way to follow all lines (had an O2 incident and also have done the IV fluid thing several times), the transdermal patch thing, I once even gave someone their coumadin without checking their labs first... thankfully no one was harmed. We have all messed up at some point. What you do after you make an error is what matters: learn from it and try not to repeat it.

I collected blood from one patient but put another patient’s lab stickers on the blood work and everything end up resulting. It was literally an entire septic work up 😭😭😭😭 I was so embarrassed…but I caught it before the doctor started placing orders. Could’ve been very dangerous. That’s why it’s always good to scan your lab slips and your medications.

Next year I'm goign to graduate from nursing school and I want to go straight into the ER. I'm not afraid because from seeing your videos I understood that it is completely normal to mess up when you are new and that if you commit yourself to become better and better and to learn from your mistakes you will become a great nurse. Every great nurse wasn't just born like that. It's a process. Enjoy the adventure from first year nursing student to competent and confident nurse! Great channel, keep up the good work! I have a question: how long did it take for you to feel, not 100%, but let's say 80% confident in the ER? That feelig of "I know what I'm doing, I know how to handle the vast majority of the situations, I've settled in the ER" kind of feeling. Thaaaaaaaaaaaank youuuuu, you are inspirational and I look up to you!!! ❤❤❤

Just started my residency in the ED, did not have a choice, had to do nights. I’m not transitioning well 😅 when you love hikes and sunshine, nights are 🤮
