All easy fixes. Learn to get your hands dirty. Brakes need servicing. Door switch and trunk latch is what you hate because it needs to be replaced. Cant believe i watched this video for non legit reasons

Same, also that faded paint was because it was probably sun baked for 16 years and NEVER polished, it could probably still be fixed with some cutting compound
For the reverse thing, I always found shifting into first and then reverse worked.

It's because reverse and first are the same gears, reverse is just first turning backwards

If there's one thing that's bunk is this video. Literally all issues are fixable. Cut plastic tabs inside seatbelt pillar to stop squeaking belts. If your breaks squeak you're just not maintaining your car. The stereo sucks but I've changed my speakers and head unit with great jvc's for less than 100 bucks. All three subaru's I've owned (01' RS, 04 Wrx & 05 Sti had a good reverse. If you need to jam it in or hit a wall something is wrong with your tranny. Subaru paint is not the best but all paint fades eventually and with a quick machine polish I got my Java Black Pearl paint looking showcar.
Can't hate on something that just needs fixing and doesn't get it.
Place the car back in first. Then go reverse.

Yep. Or double clutch it into reverse. It is not difficult. Every manual car I have ever driven has had a closed off everse gear at times. It is no worry

To unlock the trunk with the key, spray some wd-40 in the lock and jiggle the key around, i had the same problem and thats what fixed it

Squeaky seat belts are a pretty easy fix, it’s the plastic trim that hides the seatbelt, just trim it a bit on the inside and it’ll go away

Just relaxing and letting auto play take me through YT. I have a workaround for the reverse gear. With the clutch depressed, then put it in 1st, then reverse will be lined up. Works for my 04 5spd every time.

The bumper clips are fucking awful. I barely scraped the curb on my way out of my driveway after putting my coils on and lost two of them. I'm so happy that my driver seatbelt isnt the only one that squeaks too.
My 18’ hatchback is comfy as fuck. Can’t wait for the squeaky seat belts lmao.

i died at the reverse part 😂😂😂 one time a tried reverse parking and there woudnt go on reverse, it took atleast 2 mins to get it in reverse and watching other cars behind me getting mad asf not knowing my struggles 😂😂

Happens a lot on my 02'. As you may know there are no syncros on reverse and the teeth on the reverse gear have to line up with the teeth on the trans gear. Every time it gives me trouble with reverse I just simply throw it into first, inch up a little, then back in reverse. Takes a few seconds but works every time and cars behind you wont get mad af. lol

When it gets stuck, I chuck it into 1st gear and slowly release the clutch to move me an inch forward just to get out that kink and then I’ll put her back into reverse and she’ll work fine.
My 03 has a hard time going into reverse as well

I own a 2003 WRX Blobeye, No brake issues what so ever. Bumper clips are broken on the left side and are terribly weak. Legroom has never been an issue for me front or rear seats, I'm 6ft 90kg. Seat belts are squeaky as and don't retract most of the time. putting the car into reverse is not as bad as putting it into first gear. Selecting reverse feels like it goes diagonally down. OEM sound system is crap. Paint is very prone to flaking and chipping. Bootlid and spoiler are notorious for clear coat fade. Door's have never been an issue for me. I have a trunk latch works fine. Centre console works perfectly a bit small but eh.
Worst thing about my wrx is when the battery goes flat, the stupid keypad alarm code thing plays up and I have to take it back to Subaru to get it reprogrammed... @$100 later.
After the 3rd time of a flat battery (she use to go flat because I hardly drove her.... usually once on the weekend or fortnight) and replacing it with a new battery, I’d eventually just adapted to using the messed up keypad.

All you gotta do is trim the plastic for the seat belt plastic panel. super easy fix for that squeak it takes 5 min total.

Paint is fantastic here,. Even my GC8 WRX original paint is fantastic. You guys have snow, salt and a lot of rust issues, not here though.
For the reverse put in 1 gear and then reverse... Its work
Also since then I’ve gotten a slightly taller shift knob and it helps so much

If you have trouble going into reverse shift it to 3rd then back usually works. (Make sure E-Brake is off)
I have the 2004 wrx wagon. My brakes squeak and even though it's a wagon their is also no room in back seat my seatbelts squeak and it never goes into reverse.

I have been in a classic 1999 I believe subbie, and the guy had it for himself since he was 30. You have no idea how perfect everything stayed as he took the hell care out of it and never abused it.

I had a European WRX MY04 with 270HP and almost 0 problems with reverse gear. Maybe try to move 4th gear and then R? In some cars it helps. Or buy STi;) In WRX, the real problem is throwing the 1st gear when you are moving. Buying STi really solves most problems :) Blitz Nur spec R solves the problem of passengers - you can't hear their screams.

Put it into first before reverse.....thats helped for all of my cars, but especially my wrxs
The reverse on mine you have to barely let out in the clutch to pull it back
Let’s say your driving in first gear through a parking lot and you see a open spot. Since all of us are douchbags we’ll want to back into it. Instead of putting the clutch in and going straight from 1st to reverse. Take it out of first into neutral and release the clutch. Then put the clutch back in and put it into reverse.

Research is good but not all reviews are focused on the point but give you good knowledge on the car your looking into ! Keep looking YOU Could find some for cheap i got an 2005 Impreza wrx 2.0L for 5.3k but there was minor paint damage plus the car was going down a spiral fast , but the first day i got it , I made adjustments n personal preferences of mods instead of a COBB Stage 2 package ,the car is what you want it too be. For me it was healthy forged EJ205 cabaple of 450whp daily used but rn its just stock ej block at 277whp , Still Need LOTS OF PLANNING

5 things I hate about my 04 wrx would probably be
1. The sound system is ass I have the premium edition too and all the sound is literally in the front the back gets nothing and the bass is weak unless you blast it till you're deaf
2. The center console issue though I fixed mine by buying Velcro strips ( I know it makes a terrible sound but it's better than it flipping open every 5 seconds)
3. The stock exhaust is horrible.
4 the seat belt squeak
5. And I don't hate this too much but everyone else hates me for it ...It's an automatic.... I got bad knees and a messed up shoulder and wrist so dailying a MT isn't possible rn which makes it a little nerve racking to go to car meets... just waiting for the comments section to crucify me now 😂.

Ameer WRX and don't be that scared about going to meets with an automatic! We have a local meet where a guy drives a super fast automatic cts-v and people give him crap but they don't know that he actually has bad legs and it's sad people hate on it all because it's an automatic not knowing the real story and circumstance

Easy fix, take off the black plastic panel that fits over the seat belt, then trim off some of plastic on the inside with a Stanley knife, a five minute fix, then silence.
I fixed the seatbelt squeak by taking off those pannels and sanding down the sections that stick out

The brakes on the wrx are decent. Its more the operators fault and you clearly need to change them. Simple.

I have this reverse problem on a 2016 car so it's not the fault of the car
My father had a wrx 2004 and everything was ok. No problem with reverse or seatbelt sound... i only remember the noise that brakepads made... thats the only one. btw nice video!!

5 things we hate about our THIRTEEN year old Japanese cars. All the hand to do with the squeaking or loose seatbelts, is you need to add carbon, full extend them, spray soe furniture polish on them and rub it in, front nad back, let go go all the way back in, pull it out again, apply cones more to the whole length of the belt front and back. And that noise stops, ALSO, you no longer get belts that donmt return like lightning.

Ryan and I have such similar issues lol radio/speakers, door locks (only passenger for me), my key doesnt work in my trunk, center consol is bunk LMFAO and like jordan said, reverse is annoying it just goes in when it decides its ready lol love this video

I have brand new brakes but they are so annoying omg!!! My reverse is sticky too, but if I️ pull forward few inches it’ll go into reverse.
It seemed everyone has some sort of way to get it to work lol
1. can't go in reverse
2. fucking wipers either really slow or really fast
3. brakes
4. door rubbers always falling off
5. back wiper on wagons never works

I had the same gripes when i bought a 2004 impreza, new with 6 miles on it, (first and last new car....ever) I hated the sound of the doors...listen to that clunky sound and grindy feel when you pull the handle vs a first gen impreza. the reverse thing is true of every subaru ever (and all the manual transmission vehicles I've had). The trick is, put the gear lever in neutral, let out the clutch, and try again. Oh, and that goofy "center visor". It never replaced 1992 legacy wagon in my world, but I really enjoyed that it wasn't an Audi. #who'sresalevaluesucksnow?

The silver paint on Ryan's car does not apply to mine my 2005 Subaru WRX Impreza sat outside in sun for 10 years and the paint on the whole car is fine no fade no nothing so that's a problem for ur car

Does anyone else have to walk out to their wrx and stand their for a good 2 minutes pressing the key fob 200 times before tge doors unlock and if you actually just use the key the car alarm goes off and it won't turn off until you use the fob to unlock it???
Hey quick trick for the key fob! I had my key fob broken and have to use the door trick when the alarm sounds put your key in the ignition and turn if 3 times without starting it and the alarm will go off :)

Let your clutch out a little bit as your putting it in reverse almost every standard is like that, my 2013 is like that and all othe vehicles I’ve owned have been like that

Well that would be because that’s newer than ours, and the models could’ve changed over the years to fix these faulty things

For a stock blobeye around 100k miles, it's gonna be 5k to 9k. Hawkeyes are even more. Bug eyes are super cheap compared to these. I've found them with 80k miles for 5 grand. Check craigslist every other day once you have the money.

True, but even worse is someone with a good eye can even tell a WRX from an STI from the outside, they’re pretty different. Don’t understand why people do it just to flex, it’s not like it makes your car faster so no point to us 👍🏽
