I low-key super appreciate that even though the commentator uses the japanese/retconned boss names, he still says Duff McWhalen. Duff McWhalen is important, okay?
Damn, beautifully done. I remember I raged at this game a lot back then. So many instant death: Laser, spike And he just double jump to skip over all of that Beautiful.
So the other thing about boss levels, at least in the fortress levels, is that they can up the contact damage they do AGAINST you. So one time, I'd got so high level with SS stuff, that Shadow Devil and Rangda Bangda would one-shot me. That was exciting.
You can actually keep Pegasus for last and use Dark Hold on him, it freezes him so you can finish him off quickly with Zero in the first fight. In the refight you can use it when his health drops below half to stop him from flying away.
@@amso7169 Yup, as he said during the demo time, the RNG can still screw you even if you get all 4 Enigma and 4 Shuttle pieces, the Enigma RNG by default is pretty bad, but the Shuttle has better odds with all 4 pieces, but even so the RNG can still blow your efforts and give you the bad outcome, both tools can be manipulated to always work even if you have no pieces... at least on the Ps1 version in a consistent way, Ps2, GCN and the Legacy Collection 2 version has no way to manipulate the RNG in a consistent way (I don't know if is possible to create a perfect RNG manipulation in those versions by the player hand instead of a demo play... heck, the demo play method is out of question in Legacy Collection 2... because there's NO demo play at all, and in GCN and Ps2 the demo cannot be used either because when you load your save, the game has to pretty much "reload" itself because the game enters in the collection frontend to load your save data... however in this case I might be wrong, maybe more research is needed to validate that).
He wanted to manipulate the RNG behavior of the Enigma to be the rare positive result to open the final stages without risking of losing Zero by a bad RNG behavior during normal play (he explains during the demo time the reason of why he left it play), by the way, the RNG manipulation is only on the original Ps1 version (at least with the demo), the other versions on GCN, Ps2 and the Legacy Collection re-releases don't have a consistent way to manipulate it, I honestly still trying to figure out a consistent way to get a good RNG behavior in the Legacy Collection versions (and I play it casually more than trying to do speed runs).
We don't play these games all the time, so a refresher on the story would be nice. I wanted to know why Zero was there at the end and what happened after
The original Ps1 version, because on that version you can actually manipulate the Enigma and Shuttle RNG behavior on your favor regardless of the pieces you have obtained, the re-releases on Ps2/GCN and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 that factor is out of question and you have to rely on luck no matter what (Ps2 and GCN are the worst on that regard, the RNG is kinda rigged in favor of the bad outcome for the shuttle even with all pieces).

The host for this run has the perfect broadcaster voice.
Knowing you can manipulate RNG for the cannon has destroyed me.
I am totally trying that next time I play X5!
same, I been binging Mega Man AGDQ vids for the past couple of days and the x5 and x6 stats always get to me haha.
@@Fiber64 I did the same thing and had friends that didn't believe me.
In my case, I discovered that after years of playing it, when trying to acces to the final levels early.
@@ItsTommiii too bad the Megaman X series just keep losing popularity, it's a miracle that there is still some runs in GDQ. The X series speedrunning had died long ago.
sigma's stage 1 ost brings so much memories from my childhood, what an ost, absolute masterpiece
I low-key super appreciate that even though the commentator uses the japanese/retconned boss names, he still says Duff McWhalen.
Duff McWhalen is important, okay?
Such a shame, Tidal Makkoeen is a much better name.
@@docbuni is not
Duff McWhalen is the funniest best/name for a robot boss lmao
Nice to see a fellow Brazilian in this event. Great run.
Tava pensando se ele era BR. O sotaque e tals deu a entender. O nome tbm.
Very skilled commentary. Good information, articulation - lots of meaningful content without chatter.
You may not have heard me Luiz, but I was clapping as soon as they said “Time” at the end. Great run.
Um brasileiro, jogando mega man no games done quick, que dia! Nice run, Luiz e que venham outros brasileiros pro evento!
Great to see this X game getting some love. Its been a long time.
My favorite Mega Man X Game!
Aka the one I played most as a kid.
With that voice, Bradderfield could read me the phone book and I'd be hooked.
Finalmente o Brasil sendo representado num evento que realmente importa! hehe nice run
Great Run! I always loved the presentation/art style of this game. Very "arcade".
Love the Bubble Crab music remake on Duff’s stage.
awesome interview, thanks for the content.
Feliz por ver um BR na GDQ, ainda mais um dos meus jogos favoritos na infância, mandou bem demais mano
Thanks very much for the excellent commentary!!!
Its been so long since they have done a x5 speedrun but bless them lol.
Damn, beautifully done.
I remember I raged at this game a lot back then. So many instant death: Laser, spike

Beautiful.
Luiz joga bem demais!
Man, I've been playing X5 REALLY wrongly
I never noticed during the Shadow Devil fight that it’s a blurry Wily symbol in the background.
So the other thing about boss levels, at least in the fortress levels, is that they can up the contact damage they do AGAINST you. So one time, I'd got so high level with SS stuff, that Shadow Devil and Rangda Bangda would one-shot me. That was exciting.
Man it does my heart a ton of good seeing speedrunners own the stupid cannon RNG
Host was amazing, great run by Luiz. I love me a good rng manip.! 👍
Amazing run!
12:58 I can hear the claps of every player that did watch this gameplay
You can actually keep Pegasus for last and use Dark Hold on him, it freezes him so you can finish him off quickly with Zero in the first fight. In the refight you can use it when his health drops below half to stop him from flying away.
VAI BRASIL! 🇧🇷
I was about to ask if Luiz Miguel was a fellow brazilian, that name sounded so familiar for obviously reasons hahahahahaha
Longtime no see this game in GDQ since 2013
its nice to hear from orsa again
I know I played through and beat this game once, but I remember almost nothing about it.
Oh man I miss so much the agdq on stage
Great game bout to play it myself here soon too
Grande Luiz dale
I love this game, you can play it even if you are a casual.
Cuando calienta el sol aquí en la playa
Jajaja. Jugando, el mismisimo Sol de América 🤣
Finally, the solution to the X5 Enigma's...Enigma.
Nice Run!
Nice run!
Megaman X5 good game^^
Wonder if he will get all orbs with the bike
10:56-13:07 WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!??!?!?!?!
The only thing holding this game back for me was sigma as he wasnt as interesting as in other games. Otherwise one of my favourites mmx entries!
It was an easier sigma, but at the time it was the hardest megaman x game to date imo.
What's the input for saber dash cancel?
slash dash slash dash slash dash slash dash ...
Why manip the cannon in the first place? Doesn't defeating all Mavericks guarantee the cannon will work?
I dont know, because he wants to finish the game in less time possible?
It doesn't.
It's just a form to *actually* guarantee success.
No, defeating all mavericks gives a good chance but there’s still a small chance the cannon will fail

11:10 why did he log out to the Start screen for so long?

Shoutouts to Duff McWhalen

what system is this? the loading is brutal. Not megaman like at all

Why not let have X get the armor… part of the speedrun strategy

Cool run I guess, but they basically made me relive why I hate everything about this game XD

Wtf was that rng manipulation :\\ HOW WAS THAT EVEN FOUND
Wow, this game is broken. lol
Not as broken as the sequel X6.
