"This is Penelope, she likes her personal space. This is Colin. He also likes Penelope’s personal space." Made me cry laughing. The knee was CRAZY and so was him putting his whole arm around her to lead her up the stairs in the next episode. He really does love being in her personal space.
I love that it sounded like he never wrote to his family, but he wrote to Pen even though she never responded like she usually does. Boy is in denial so hard
Colin literally can't seem to stay away from her and it's so funny. Every ball he's like where's Pen? The amount of times they are unchaproned in the series is insane 🤣
I don't know how people don't see Colin's flirting with girls scene the way I do. He thinks he needs to be this kind of guy in society but he isn't looking for a wife so he isn't really leading the girls on. But he is boosting their confidence like crazy. It is a perfect mirror to the way Pen wrote her first LW of the season. Calling out girls who could turn into wallflowers and using her LW magic to make them seem like the most eligible ladies of the season. Colin is doing the same kind of thing. Imagine how those girls will feel once he walks away. "Colin Bridgerton told me I was pretty, he told me I'd have young men lining up. I must really have a chance this season!" Can't you see how sweet he is in that scene, and what a people pleaser? Besides he already had a reputation for harmlessly, boyishly flirting with all the ladies in the Ton. This isn't really that new for him. We just haven't seen it much yet.
I never thought about it that way but the difference is his charm got more “sturdy” on his travels but he now doesn’t deep down actually like the flirting because how could people be so eh about one of the most meaningful things that people do but he didn’t make that realization fully until he finally lost the v head canon because idk if this is confirmed I think Colin was a v seasons 1&2 but lost it before season 3 and then he became the mold again that society wanted him to be only this time he actually knows what the boyish flirting should have meant yet he can’t express how he really feels about how it should be
(some mentions of things that happen in later episodes!!) I find the 'it is all merely clothing' comment really interesting too. I think the colors of his clothes reflect which side of him he is presenting in any given scene. The brown is the new player Colin mask he is putting on, and his bridgerton blue is the real him. When there is a mix of both is when the real him is peeking through. When he first arrives in the first episode he is in an almost full brown ensamble, which is directly opposite to when he interrupts Debling and Penelope's dance in the last episode, where he is in almost full blue. An easy way to differentiate between the two coats he uses is that the blue one has several smaller buttons down the front that are close together, while his brown one has bigger buttons that are further apart. His blue coat is more of a blue-black, so its harder to tell but you can tell when the light hits it! My favourite example of this is in the air balloon scenes, where his vest is a striped brown and blue. Even the way the vest is striped gives the illusion that the real Colin (blue) is peeking through the cracks of his 'armor' (brown). At the risk of sounding insane, we can even take this analysis further. He arrives to this air balloon event with his brown coat on, and even says to the lords he speaks to that he is 'back'. This is a step back from the blue he sported in the second half of ep2, which he was with Pen for most of. After talking to Penelope he takes his brown coat off, and cannot take his eyes off of her. Finally, when he sees Penelope is in danger, he throws his coat to the guys he is standing with, and runs off to save her. There is more examples of this, like when he and pen are alone in bridgerton house (in his comfort place alone with his comfort person), he is sporting a blue and white vest, with no hints of brown. The last example ill put on here is in ep4. When the scene transitions from the library to the brothel, the coat he is wearing respectively changes from the blue one to the brown one. I could talk about this forever, and have heavily considered making an in-depth video analysis on it despite never having posted a video in my life lmaooo. I could just be really looking into this but the more scenes i look at the most it makes sense to me!
This is such a good take, I was hoping someone would really do a color analysis of them per scene cause I couldve sworn their feelings show with their clothing
@@raydarkwolf I am so incredibly tempted! I could yap about it to no end. I also think that Penelope's clothing has significance and reflect her slowly taking over Colin's thoughts (or the way he feels about her). I haven't dove too deep into this yet but generally she starts off the season in Featherington green, moves on to blue-greens, and by the end of the season is in bridgerton blues. I think her jewellery is also significant. She starts off the season in gold, which is what the Featheringtons wear, and wears a lot more silver by the end of the season, which is what the Bridgertons wear. She also wears a lot of dresses that are similar to Violet's in adjacent scenes, which is interesting cause Colin and Pen's story is the most similar to Violet and Edmund's!
40:44 I think she missed him. I think that frolicking in the garden moment is her getting caught up in the euphoria of having him back in her life. I think the handshake is played, not so much that she has given up on him, but as a reminder to herself that she must. But she can't stop her feelings for him, and I think she's been so lonely without Colin or Eloise that she is genuinely relieved. I think it also goes to show us that, despite what he said about earning her forgiveness, Penelope has already forgiven Colin. She can't help herself.
Penelope apologizing repeatedly to Eloise and seemingly holding almost no grudge actually makes lots of sense! If we look at 2x08, Penelope INSTANTLY regrets lashing out at Eloise after she insulted her with 'insipid wallflower'. She runs after Eloise, tries to find her and apologize again and then the Colin and "not in your wildest fantasies" makes Penelope cease the search after Eloise. And then narrator Pen goes on about how "silence can wield more power than words", explains a lot why Pen decided to keep her distance after season's end. In S3 she also concludes her reasoning with the "I avoided society because I didn't know if you'd want to see me."
Oh I love it ! That's such a great idea! How cute and hilarious that would be 😂 Imagine the comic potential this chaotic Bridgerton energy has with these two and poor Pen in between 🤣 I definitely want to see a scene (or more) about this ! "El, I want some time alone with my wife" "But I want some time with my bestie!" "She's my wife AND my best friend, you can never achieve that 🤪 [insert Colin's face bragging] and that means I am the one who prevails over you to have the priority for the pleasure of her company ALONE." [insert Eloise pouting and making funny faces at Colin] 😂
Rae is a lady’s maid! They help the ladies with their makeup, hair, clothing, and jewelry. Housemaids do the cleaning 😊 Can’t wait to see recaps for the other episodes ❤ You have the best commentary.
I love Rae so much! I hope we can continue to see more of her. I love that despite never saying a single word about it you can see in her facial expression, her eyes, that she knows the real thing going on between Pen and Colin. You can't fool her. Haha.
May I highlight one of the funniest scenes for me: Gregory is about to shoot an arrow in the living room, but Anthony interrupts him as a grown adult. HOWEVER He gets the arrows and BOTH He and Benedict get out with two children to shoot them outside 😂😂😂
I really missed a scene between Violet and Colin where Violet would say "you should relish in every moment you have left with Pen, as when she inevitably marries, you cannot be this close anymore, as her husband would not be ok with it". I wish there was this point of "I'm going to lose her friendship" before even having this "I'm going to lose her romantically", I think it would've been a good step towards his realization in ep 4.
The Penelope's personal space comment was hilarious and so true. What stood out to me was everytime he came to see her or chase after her, the comment was "what are you doing here" or "what are you doing out here?" It doesn't seem to even cross her mind that he cares in anyway. There isn't even any thought from her at the ball when he almost kissed her in front of everyone. I wanted to see more from Colin, but we could have seen more from Pen as well. I do realize there was not enough time to develop all that on screen. I wanted to see him ask her to dance or bring her lemonade. However, I have a feeling in the second part we are going to get some huge romantic declarations of love from them.
I feel like I'm the only person who genuinely enjoyed the scenes with Colin flirting with debutantes😂. Don't get me wrong, I didn't find it attractive but I did find it kind of sweet. I understand that he's doing it to put on a certain kind of rakish persona, but the way he's going about it is really great actually. He's not super gross with the things he says, he makes sure to flirt with all of them simultaneously and not give any particular attention to one, so that no-one will misconstrue his intentions, and he's making them feel good in the process. As someone who really enjoys innocent flirting, and as someone who wasn't used to getting a lot of compliments, him flirting with me like that would have been a real confidence booster. So when everyone else is cringing and gagging, I'm just here grinning at the screen and feeling all warm and fuzzy.
When I first watched these scenes, I felt that they weren't really for me. But I was reading someone's opinion on this and it was much like yours. Colin doesn't give these debutantes false hope, he gives them equal attention, and the things he says are not sleazy. The part I found most interesting is about the brothel scenes: Colin treats the sex workers with the same consideration, he kisses them both and gives them equal attention, and he apologizes before leaving. On the other hand, previous scenes with sex workers in the series, like with Anthony, are purely transactional. Colin is the only one who interacts with them.
It was so weird to me that I thought maybe Luke couldn't wink, but I've seen him do it in interviews now, and it had to be a direction or conscious thought to do that weird awkward wink...
@@molly828 Same! I then felt bad for Luke because Colin kept catching so many strays over the winking being bad and he knew his character well enough that he questioned it, yet did what he had to do.
Can I just say, you catching so many of the truly subtle and beautiful moments blows me away! As a period piece, especially Austen, fan - it is those stolen glances, pining, and let's just say it 'hand porn' (looking at you Kanthony to keep bringing it) that draws me to these shows because I live for the artistic exploration of a romanticized history. They push a little more drama than is needed sometimes but it has grabbed new audiences. As long as the fashion/makeup/hair stays on par with good writing and acting - I will always welcome more opportunities.
I was wondering if that was Miss Goring because wow, that eye makeup threw me. It is so overdone that I wondered if we were supposed to believe she was new on the show which is possible but I recall her from Poldark so it stuck with me.
In the garden scene, Collin complains about Lady Whistledown writing about the incident with him and Pen’s lessons. Pen tells him, “she had to write about it. It would have seemed suspicious if she didn’t.” I thought that was a give away, right?
39:26 part of why he realizes this more was because she did not respond to him this summer!! i'm sure that left him feeling despondent and lonely.. he literally says something like "it made me feel i was gone for years rather than months." that no contact gave him the time to reflect on their friendship, so he now knows that penelope truly has been the only one to really see him as he is
Nicola mentioned in one of her interviews that the reason she threw it is because they actually lost it and so had to make another one. They were worried that it wouldn’t look right and so they had the idea to throw it.
@@GotLostOnMyWaythis warmed my heart. Lol😂. There were tons of Colin caring Easter eggs. I wouldn’t have noticed any of them without YT /Reddit comments from the fans! Ty! ❤
Right, they confirmed in an interview that him and Nicola re-shot a lot of scenes because the director (or was it the showrunner) who watched one of his plays and they wanted to re-do certain things with somewhat more emphasis on his comedy-chops.
Lady Jenivia really goes down bad on Colin. But I like her analysis. Fun fact. All the characteristics she loves in Ben are from book Colin (I read the first 2 and the 4th and Ben has no personality shown. Instead Colin appears everywhere. I can say that JQ loved Colin).
@@gelsominagaldieriI feel bad for saying this but I kinda wish she would lighten up a bit on him.🫣 Like, to each their own, and she’s allowed to feel how she wants, but I don’t think she really tries to understand him that much or think about things from his perspective or what the show is trying to do with him. Maybe it just bugs me because it’s a prevailing problem within the fandom and I do really like Colin but idk I just wish more Bridgerton fans would be more nuanced in their interpretation of the story/characters. That being said it is her content so she’s allowed to do what she wants with it, and I stopped watching a little while ago specifically because it stopped appealing to me anyway. Oof also sorry that this turned into a massive rant, I just had a lot to say I guess!
@@rebeccahemplemanI see it more as a loving ribbing, like how the Bridgerton family all makes fun of each other but clearly has no ill-will behind it and still loves each other. She mainly makes fun of him for the dumb decisions he’s made & pokes fun at how oblivious he’s been to his feelings for Pen and how he’d eat his words (which he did and has made up for since)
I watched ep 1 only once but I’m pretty sure I remember that Pen overheard that Colin’s new style of clothing was inspired by what people were wearing in France, and afterwards at the Modiste she tells Madam Delacroix that she wanted a new dress similar to what they’re wearing in Paris and I was like 😏😏 I guess it leads up to the fact that underneath it all Pen still has feelings for Colin
Yes. And in Colin’s journal he talks abt how beautiful the women of Paris are. Penn wants to wear what is attractive to Colin. If he had wrote he loves clown clothes she wld hv had a cirque de soleil moment!
I love your videos so much. They bring me so much joy and knowing that someone is as obsessed with Bridgerton as me is the best feeling in the world, so thank you.
I have also noticed in the scene when Colin wants to give Eloise her present that she is saying she is reading “Emma” and say that’s it’s more realistic. If she is referring to Emma by Jane Austin (1815) then she is talking about a “Friends to Lovers” story…
I winder if Eloise shut Colin down because of what she said to Penelope at the modiste. She said, “i didn’t reveal your secret because I don’t want to go back to the past”. Maybe Colin’s gift was also bringing her back there when he was about to say it was about the rights of whomever. But Eloise girl, that was such a thoughtful gift.
37:23 even before he realizes his feelings, something within in him has ALWAYS longed to be around her, with her, close to her. ugh love that for you colin
Did anyone notice when Colin's brothers were asking him how he had become so 'sturdy', and then a few scenes later, Cressida ripping Penelope's gorgeous dress with the words 'you should have found something sturdier!' (I immediately thought that was a reference to Colin :)).
Loving the disability rep. Ecpecially learning the actress for eloise, one of her eyes only moves up and down. Its just nice as i have 10 percent hearing loss also.
I'd love love love Lady Danbury to mention that she was so pleased about them getting together because she watched them always searching eachother out. Like maybe in the beginning of next season...lol.
Okay, hear me out, hear me out … while Colin is putting on a new mask/shield, I feel Penelope’s transformation is actually reflecting her true self. Her new clothes are a door cracking open to her future and a step into visually establishing that she is desireable without faking it. Colin has all the phrases he thinks will impress the ladies but Pen just isn’t able to finesse that skill (thankfully). Internally, Pen wants to find marriage so she can find happiness/escape the toxicity of her life. Colin encourages Pen to be authentically her true self. He is the one lifting her up, where Pen has done that for Colin in the past. She walks differently, fidgets less (yes she still fidgets, she’s Pen, but more noticeable right?). The old Feathering clothes were never her. Colin’s old clothes were always him. Role reversal and parallel stories coexisting at their finest 14:52
Having rewatched several times S3 now, i think that the hopeful look in Pen at the end of this episode is because she no lonver has to face the season alone. Before this talk with Colin, she was truly lonely. Her familyis never reallybeen there and now Eloise is not speaking to her, but she just had a glimmer of hope with the comeback of her best friend Colin. She now has a little of her old life back
She always raised an eyebrow and smiled every time Colin and Pen left their clandestine meet ups. She knew they were falling in love LOOONNGG before they knew. ❤ 😂
I am so glad you said the thing about the wigs because i could NOT tell why those scenes bothered me so much and almost looked like CGI. Now that I can put a reason on it I'm less unsettled about it.
@@danazomer1443And also, right after the Queen made her declaration, and Colin walks out , Pen catches up to him and he wants her to give up L W, and she explains that he can’t understand because he is a man- the wig bothered me too 😊MRS.E.E.ZAYAS
.I started to rewatch and the little things i noticed in episode 1, there is so much I miss out. I think there is a superficial nature of Eloise and Cressida relationship because from episode 1 there are so many hints . When Lady Violet is talking to Kate about Eloise new friendship, the camera pans to Eloise, Cressida, Gregory and Hyacinth. Eloise is talking to her siblings and completely turned towards them, she only talking and engaging to them whilst they facing both Eloise and Cressida but only engaging with their sister. Whilst, Cressida is only facing Eloise and has her back to the other siblings. Even though she is facing Eloise, Eloise isn't even looking or facing towards her direction- she's completely turned away. It's looks like her visual clue how Cressida is inserted in but not part of the family. During the 4 season Ball ( which now I am appreciating so much more how beautiful the decor is. And also how the conversation of character reflect the season their standing behind) when Eloise kept looking at Penelope, she makes the "mean" comment about shift stitch - Cressida looks so proud of her whilst Eloise looks apologetic once she realises that she hurt the girl feeling. Cressida ripping Penelope dress. This is direct parallel to season 1 when Cressida spill wine on Penelope dress (a dress that is not citrus and looks very beautiful ) in front of a suitor. Collin see it's was malicious just by Penelope reaction and immediately shut Cressida down and dances with Penelope. Whilst, Debbling like oh accident happens let me get you a maid. My man ...😐 Also, Collin takes a triple take at Penelope and the whole ball is in Penelope perception. Even the camera angle you can see it's adjusted to Penelope height so everyone looks so tall and imposing. When Collin follows her out, he notice she upset, talks to the men about her being upset (indicating he isn't embarrassed by her) and literally runs after her. When he meets her first, he tried to play it off like he came out from fresh air because she's clearly been crying and very cutting towards him- so he doesn't want to draw attention to that. He gives her a very genuine compliment and tries to be charming and banter like before. He mentions the writing because he was genuinely upset she didn't write and he doesn't know why. When she mentions about courting - he has deer in headlight look like omg 😳 whose said anything about marriage and then she elaborate (Penelope picked up on how he doesn't know what she's referring to), he actually gulps. And when he says let's talk in private, he meant it like let's not have argument on public but private setting (which is even more scandalous). I think the whole scene Penelope has been nursing so much hurt and she taking everything he says in the wrong way. I just noticed more small details, like Lord Fife was about to say something scandalous to Francesca, but he glances at Anthoney and instantly censor himself. Or the one Asian lady whose talking stitches with Eloise - her hair looks very similar to Korean Royalty styles. After the Episode 1 ending, I kept thinking why does he hate Lady Whistledown with such passion? And I have a theory. He suspected it could be Eloise before, so he assumed, despite the scandal of Lady Crane, that Eloise did it with the best of attentions. Similar, to what Anthony said at least she spared you from the scandal. Whilst, now he assume that person whose behind this gossip has malicious attentions. So the scandal, insult and embarrassment is not justified for noble reason. That why he wants to get justice for all the hurt this person caused his family. We know he has a hero complex and would want to stop this person from hurting the people he cares about. Especially, throughout part 1 Lady Whistledown keeps hurting people with her gossip. She insults him and Penelope also gets dragged through scandal. Lady Whittledown is the bane of his existence, ( and apparently the object of all his desires) every low point of his she is there spreading the gossip about him and those he cares for. I can't wait for the DRAMA of when he finds out 🍿
I think the slip up with "Miss Thompson... Lady Crane" is more for the viewers... I don't know if casual viewers would know immediately who he is talking about with "Lady Crane".
14:04 i think the line more specifically was something like "you look distinguished, but then again, you always have." so i'm sure it was intentional to use the same wording so we have a direct parallel to when they first meet post-travels in season 2 vs. season 3 :)
I really appreciate what you said here about Francesca. I’ve been hearing people talk about her coming off as autism coded but I don’t see it. Why can’t someone just be quiet and introverted without having to give them a mental illness or whatever kind of neurodivergence for it. Not that there is any problem with that representation, I just don’t see it here. You are so right about her getting along with and keeping up with the whit of her siblings. She understands social queues, just prefers to be more reserved. And while we are on the subject, I’m really pissed with the end just because they built up this whole thing about her having a different kind of love and then totally negated it by having her infatuated with Makayla. It would be one thing to have Makayla be smitten and set up the pining from her side, but I think it does the plot to that point a disservice to bring that up for Fran so quickly. Let her have her love with John and deal with the other story later. It was just unnecessary
I think Colin's "I will never forgive her." comes from a place where he believes people simply want forgiveness after being exposed for wrongdoings. I took it as him presuming that when he'll get to know who Whistledown, she'll be regretting writing about his family and Marina and she'll be asking for forgiveness just because. For peace of her mind, for to be forgiven in the eyes of the ton, for to not be tormented with someone being mad at her.
It reminds me of s2 when he went to marina and said ‘I’m sorry and I forgive you.’ To her. Saying you forgive someone without them apologizing is basically a roundabout way of asking them to say sorry to you lol. If they want to do a cool callback, I think Colin should acknowledge that conversation because Marina did say something that can be applicable to the LW situation. Marina said she doesn’t ruminate on the past and leaves it there and holds onto reality and the few good things of the present and learns to be content with it. The dream of getting retribution for perceived wrongs just hold you back. With pen’s justifications of writing whistledown she sees it as a reclaiming of her autonomy and voice and to hold a mirror to the ton. To emphasize the virtues she values and the values supposedly upheld by the ton and how they are all hypocrites and are all covertly ignoring those values. She uses it to protect herself financially as she is at risk of being a spinster while also having unstable finances because of her father. She uses LW as a weapon and protection. Her words actually being helpful and saving the bridgertons from ruin in the grand scheme. In the moment they are chatty words that create middling scandal, but overall are a net positive and beats the outcome of being in a loveless marriage or being viewed as a man that impregnated a woman out of wedlock regarding Colin and Marina (the ton would not believe anyone but LW that Colin wasn’t the father I just believe that) and preventing Eloise from getting guillotined or getting charges from the queen.
@@surette2012 beautifully said! I agree completely and I also thought of Marina! Even tho they were familiar with each other, why would Colin expect Marina to feel the need to apologize? I think he's projecting and his apologies are also unasked for. I understand him, because I'm the same, I would feel the need to be forgiven but also apologized to, but I think it was shown in a fabulous way why his wishful thinking is uncalled for in those situations. We also can speculate that he's assuming LW is someone he at least knows. But I still think it has nothing to do with it. Because of his character and projecting his views he would expect an apology no matter who LW is.
Hearing how the lord squad talked to Francesca, the way the ladies liked Colin's flirting makes much more sense. most of the lords flirting truly give the eww. lol. plus, they're teenage girls, they don't know better yet.
I am with you saying that someone (Colin or Ton) should have noticed/pointed out how inappropriate is (has been) his behaviour with Pen. Infact, before the show I thought that LW was going to write about this like: in the ton point out how is inappropriate, she has to write it but she has to downplay and (as in the book) she write that no Bridgerton would be never interested in Penelope and if this happend she should stop writing. But pointing out on LW, would made Colin realise (maybe) and (as in the book) he wouldn't like how the ton really thinks that Penelope is unlikeable. Other thing: i like that El is reading Emma (of course foreshadowing) but I built in my mind that since El never read novels, and Pen is, instead, fond of novels, I wonder if Pen ever told El that Emma was her favorite novel (of course) and now El is reading it ad a way to connect to Pen. And if so... will she understand why Pen likes this book? I know is a theory but totally building air castles 😆
It’s so funny to me how I never noticed at all until I watched The Pink Podcast react to episode 1 and they IMMEDIATELY clocked his hair changed between each shot of him at the garden party LMAO
Her sisters definitely know she has a crush on him at least because Prudence caught her writing to him in S2. And I took her look in the garden to be kind of like free and proud of herself a little. Like “okay I can be over him. We’re just friends and not only am I looking for a husband but I’m letting him help me find someone else.” It was fooling herself but in that moment I think she really believed she was on track to move on fr
Omg thaaaank you. Clicked on this video so fast! Pls pls pls do this for every episode of this season or at least for a couple more. Love hearing you’re thoughts on it ❤
i couldnt figure out who you remind me of but your voice sounds so similar to like 2000s-early 2010s Amanda Bynes to me, like your inflection and even word choice/jokes. i think shes literally a comedian of a generation so im glad i found ur channel
Dude it’s just that Colin keeps giving her mixed vibes, he says they are friends by doesn’t treat her like one. And her crush just keeps reminding her what could be.
I wonder if they threw in Colin messing up marinas name so much randomly this season specifically in front of Eloise because they’re hinting that Eloise is going to be the true lady crane
I got real mad at Colin for a second when he smirked at Eloise’s new reading material. (A. I object to categorizing Austen as primarily romantic literature but I understand why people do and there’s nothing wrong with romantic literature it’s just a genre nerd argument thing on my part; and B. Penelope loves romantic stories Colin, she tells Debling so, and YOU LOVE THEM TOO, you goofy-ass fog-filled rose-garden kiss-dreaming wattpad-journalling sentient puddle of tears and drool for the sake of Penelope Fetherington.) Ye’d best start believin’ in silly romances, Mr. Bridgerton…YER IN ONE! 🏴☠️💖
Your Emma point coincides with my Easter egg theory. Eloise is enjoying her new romance book. In the book, Emma invites herself to “help” friends to better their lives and find love/perfect matches. (Eh hem, Colin) Then, towards the end of Emma, it is obvious that the true love match was surprisingly Emma herself. 👍🏻 There is also the thought that Eloise is next in line, if you think about the ordering of books and how “Emma” was actually next … so Eloise’s book is next.
I read somewhere that he actually calls it a silly novel (silly romance?) because that's how she used to call books like that. So that's actually not his opinion, he's just saying it back to her.
I don’t know about reshoots bt I saw an interview where Nicola mentioned tht they shot 2 episodes at a time n the first thing tht she n Luke N shot together was at the ball in ep 2 where she speaks to a Viscount n finds out tht his horse just died..
Not you talking about the cravat and the colors and the designers saying how they wanted to add more colors for the men and that the cravat's color was a nod to Colin maybe wanting to impress Pen. I sooooo adore watching your videos, I agre with everything hajajaaj with so much hate around this season seeing someone talking about it and picking up the details in acting and story is so refreshing.
Oh the space, that personal space. She literally put space between their normal correspondence and it was emptying for him. Yep, yep, yep. He was really beginning to lose it. It totally ramped up after coming back and him realizing he missed her, her letters, their familiarity and the denial of her being nice and automatically apologizing for something he couldn’t even fathom … her finding out about his boastful declarations to his supposed friends. Confounding feelings only this season? Oh sweet Colin, confounding indeed. He thought it was the kiss, but it was so much more. Everyone also is pointing out Luke’s glow up. While he wanted to get ready for “boom boom” S3 scenes, it also makes sense to me that he was hungry overseas, but couldn’t pinpoint it. The man literally drinks only lemonade, tea, and a little booze these four episodes … until the cake inspiration from Pen. (Of course we know he did eat, but not important for the normal Colin eating all the biscuits he normally would have.) Must say, your channel is refreshing and I’m here for it. Thank you for all you do! I’m learning lots. ❤
What makes me laugh more in Colin's "charm" scene in the garden party is that he goes from group to group, and tells them clearly: I don't want to marry you, I'm not interested, other men will be, and will make you dance. I won't fight for you. All with his weird pseudo charm, but a fake smile, and his eyes often searching for what he really wants: Penelope.
As someone who read the books before seeing the show I've loved all the changes they've made to polin's story except for the Marina and Colin storyline. I felt like it was unnecessary to add a betty/archie/veronica triangle and have a very cliche "who is she" love at first sight moment for Colin. And then having her forever tied to the lady whistledown reveal where there are already more than enough reasons for Colin to be upset about it. That's probably the one thing I'm scared about is how they mention it in part 2. I also feel like for someone who pays attention like your amazing analysis that it's easy to see that he wasn't in love with Marina but he is now with Pen but I don't think it would be for the GA to differentiate and I don't think I can blame them for that as they showed him to be heartbroken even into season 2.
Another parallel is when Penelope complimented Colin’s new look he said it was all the rage in Paris. Then when Penelope is getting her new wardrobe she asks for something like they might wear in Paris. Also a point never considered was that Penelope didn’t need to live under her sisters or mother’s thumb. She could have lived quite comfortably and independently on the money she made as Whistledown just as Cressida was planning to do on the reward or blackmail money.
Sammy I truly love your content. Helps me pass the time until Part 2 finally comes out. And speaking of Part 2. I'm dying to hear your theories about it. The leaks are crazy! When do you think Colin will find out that Pen is LW?
So I have a theory that Colin spent all of his time in Paris and didn't actually travel anywhere else. He hardly talks about anywhere else, is oddly cagey about his travels and we only get confirmation that gifts are from Paris. Think this is even going to be touched on at all?
I don’t think so, I believe he was so restless in his journey and the fact that pen never replied to his letters that he preferred just hopping from city to city collecting random experiences to write about just to fill the void of not having communication with the one person who used to write back to him. I saw a comment earlier about him having a 122 day journey between 17 cities that accounted that he must have spent 3 to 4 days in each city. So that’s just restlessness and wandering. And the showrunner confirmed that not getting replies from pen prompted him to start his journal, which also speaks about how lonely he feels even in the company of others. I’m looking forward to a confession of him saying that the only reason he started to write was because of pen
3:57 !!! For me bees incorporated in the wardrobe give hints as to whom is going to get 'stung' by love this season! Benedict has a bee on his waistcoat ep1 - hinting to him and lady Tilley Arnold BUT ALSO violet has BEE EARRINGS when presenting Francesca to the queen ! obv hinting at her and lady danbury's brother. So it's not just a symbol of the Bridgerton's father's death (rip) but also of budding love!
LEXI GREY! from Greys Anatomy. The actress is Chyler Leigh. Thats who you remind me of...it was bugging me as I start binge watching your content. You are beautiful girl❤
Okay I’m super stoned rn BUT HEAR ME OUT the bee as a symbol is kinda sick but then that got me thinking…crucifixes have the exact same energy. I can’t say if this is an argument for or against Bridgertons having a morbid bee motif. 😂
I hope that Colin’s feelings on the Marina situation come to a middle ground later on this season. I totally understand where Marina was coming from and I don’t blame her for what she did at all, but I do think Colin still needs to accept that what she tried to do to him was, actually, really awful. He was rightfully very angry when he first found out and then after some time away I think he looked back on their ‘relationship’ with rose-colored glasses and his hero complex/want for purpose made him think that he should’ve stepped up and married her anyway and maybe they still could’ve been happy together, and Marina calls him out for this but she also belittles him for it and even trying to reach out at all despite her being the one that broke his heart and him being relatively cordial to her. I just hope that the nuance of this situation is addressed and when he finds out what Pen did he’s finally able to accept that, yes, Marina was just doing what she needed to do to protect herself and her children, even if she was taking drastic measures, and he could’ve been less angry with her or more understanding in the moment, but she also took advantage of his sensitivity and kindheartedness and not only was what they had not real, but it is for the best that it fell apart. I think he needs to learn that he can forgive her if he wants but he should forget her and understand that his good nature was something that was being used and manipulated, and that was not his fault, nor should he feel like he needs to leave it behind for fear of something similar happening again. P.S. to anyone that may reply to this: If you have seen or read any spoilers from part 2 please do not tell me or I will cry. Thank you.
You guys, am rewatching ep1, and noticed that before the garden party, Portia and Varley talk about Aunt Petunia (and who knows how she lived, for all they know she hid jars of coin under her floors; the truth has a way of rearing its ugly head). From what I hear, in the book, it's Penelope who puts her LW earnings into their mutual household under the guise of Aunt Petunia - do you think there'll be a reveal of that in s3 part 2, or it's just an easter egg? Also, clear foreshadowing that LW will get unmasked this season. :)
35:18 i think that each of them has like their own assigned maid to wash them, dress them, do their hair, etc! so i think she cleans up after her in that sense? like maybe just her room? and varley is like the head of the maid's because she's lady featherington's personal maid. so i think there are cleaning maids and there are personal maids. but that is also just what i've gathered from previous seasons and whatnot
41:35 i think the featheringtons aware of their special friendship because it is revealed last season how often they wrote to each other that last summer, which is usually reserved for people who are courting and serious about each other in regency times.. but they simply see it as a friendship because they really don't see penelope in that light
I still wonder how absolutely nobody in the featherington house knows that Penelope is LW?! The sisters and Portia I understand, but not even the maids, that clean her room.
8:14 on this point, I feel like the makeup this season is a big factor in taking away the bridgerton vibes? Like we’re doing too many up close face shots for me to not notice the HEAVY makeup. Of course in season one there was still makeup being applied to the girls, but it was supposed to be like “look at what a natural beauty they are” and the clothes were supposed to be a big draw to them and it was all kinda fresh faced, young but refined, light and elegant makeup. This season feels like the girls in their early 20’s heading to the club and it kind of clashes with the clothing and makes me go “okay but where’s her face, where’s her natural blush and where’s the shadow play with the lighting”. Suddenly everything looks so heavy and somehow shiny yet also dark
40:38 i interpreted that moment as penelope like solidifying the fact that she does love colin bridgerton, the feelings that she still has for him are evident to her, but she is accepting the fact that they will only be friends from that point on (little does she know).
I can’t be the only one that is so happy with the new Francesca casting. I found the previous Francesca a little dull and can’t imagine her in this season.
She wasn't dull, she had a more sarcastic aprouche (which does match the books, so ok) and she had no storyline, very few lines. The way she delivers her lines in the family dinner is very good. Hannah is also great, altough I thought the writters made Frannie more shy than should, but the sweetness and the introvertion was well done. She is a good actress too.
Francesca has a few characteristics often found in people who are neurodivergent (and I believe that's intentional). She has a special interest that she really focuses on, the pianoforte, she usually doesn't maintain eye contact for long, and she sometimes misses social cues, like meeting John on the street when she was with Violet, or when she doesn't take the lemonade from Lord Samadani.
I'm clearly in the minority on this, but I never thought Colin was insulting or making fun of Penelope at the end of season 2. Even the first time I saw it... my heart broke for her, but to me it was just the heartbreak of finding out your crush doesn't feel the same way, not the betrayal of a friend making fun of you behind your back. I was honestly surprised at all the vitriol aimed at Colin afterwards. And after seeing this season, I'm even more convinced. Allow me to make my case: First of all, it would be incredibly out of character for him. It's not in his character to openly make fun of _any_ woman that way, let alone his best friend who he's incredibly protective of, and who he just promised to take care of earlier that same evening. This is the man who, even at the height of his trying-to-fit-in-people-pleasing-yeah-I'm-totally-a-rake-this-isn't-a-front-at-all era, refused to denigrate the contessa by sharing intimate details about her, despite his "friends" clear expectations, and the fact that she wouldn't be affected socially at all since none of them knew her. But his ingrained respect for women in general is too strong to be overcome, regardless of circumstance and expectations. And that was just some random woman he met on his travels, not his best friend. This is also the man who can't bear to hear anyone say _anything_ negative about Penelope, including Penelope herself, without immediately jumping to her defense. If any of those men had dared to insult her, he would have clapped back immediately. So the idea of him being the one to dis her that way is wildly out of character. That's not to say people don't sometimes act against their own character. Of course they do. I could potentially buy a storyline in which Colin came to that point, if it was presented convincingly. But nothing we see from Colin in seasons 2 or 3 aligns with this supposed betrayal. Which brings me to my next few points... If he had done so, if he had chosen to go against his own values and character enough to openly insult Penelope in order to save face or impress that group of men, it would have created a significant amount of cognitive dissonance. He would certainly feel at least some amount of guilt over it afterwards. Considering what we know of Colin, I could see him really beating himself up for it. What he wouldn't do, though, is simply forget it like any other random comment. That moment and that choice would stick with him, even if he tried to push it to the back of his mind or justify it somehow. So the fact that he doesn't even seem to remember that conversation when Penelope brings it up in this episode is telling. Also consider this: Penelope cut Colin off immediately after that conversation, and Colin spent the better part of a year wondering why. We know he is always quick to assume the blame whenever those around him are upset, even if it has nothing to do with him. You've pointed this out numerous times yourself. And yet in this instance, when he truly is at fault, it doesn't even cross his mind? He attributed her silence to her simply living her life and having no need of him, like the rest of his family. This conversation wasn't even a flicker at the edge of his consciousness. If there was even a thought, or a lingering memory in the back of his mind of him saying or doing anything that might have upset her, he would have latched onto it and assumed the blame (and reached out to apologize and make amends). The fact that he didn't even consider the possibility that he had hurt or offended her tells me that he didn't do or say anything he thought was hurtful or offensive. Even if we assume he did forget about it... once he was reminded of it and is made aware of the full weight of what he did- the pain he caused Penelope, to the point that it nearly ended their friendship- we would expect him to feel a great deal of retroactive guilt over it then. It would haunt him, especially once he falls in love and we see him struggling with feeling unworthy of her. And yet, it never comes up again. Even his apology is surprisingly upbeat. He is genuinely sorry for having hurt Penelope, but it feels more like he's apologizing for a mistake than a betrayal. The way he doesn't add any detail or mention anything beyond the facts she brought up further indicates that he still doesn't quite remember the conversation in question. He simply believes her that he said it and that it hurt her. And to his credit, he takes ownership of that and apologizes sincerely, without hiding behind good intentions. By the next episode he seems to have moved on from and forgotten it completely. Which would be very un-Colin-like, if he truly had made a conscious, selfish decision that caused so much pain to someone he loves. But it makes perfect sense if he was simply apologizing for a mistake that was brought to his attention. It seems obvious to me that, in his mind, he was asked if they were courting and he said no. Period. It wasn't even worth remembering, let alone considering as a reason for Penelope's sudden distance. The "insult" of his comment comes entirely from the meaning and motivations *_we_* attributed to it. Peopled assumed he was embarrassed for others to think he was courting her because she's so undesirable. They assumed he was saying that the idea of courting her was laughable. They assumed that's the only reason he would deny it so emphatically. But he doesn't actually say any of that. To be fair, his wording was unnecessarily emphatic. There are probably several reasons for this. To a certain extent, this might just be the platonic friend who is tired of explaining for the thousandth time that no, they are NOT dating their friend and yes, they REALLY are just friends, whose denials get more emphatic and insistent with each repetition because no one seems to believe them. Then there is the truth behind their observations... he _does_ have feelings for her, but he hasn't yet recognized them for what they are, which lends even more strength to his denials. He protests too much. But he's denying his feelings, not her desirability. There's the fact that he has no idea of her feelings for him, and in fact couldn't even imagine her having any. Which, paired with his own unrecognized feelings might result in a certain defensiveness... denying any desire to court her, since he assumes she would never want to court him. This is the same self-sabotaging self-preservation we see in Penelope after their first kiss... emphatically declaring that the kiss was a one-time thing, since she assumes that's what he wants to hear. And some of it probably did have to do with the company he was in, and matching their tone/banter to fit in. They asked about it in a light, joking manner, so he responded in a light, joking manner. But I don't believe even for a minute that he meant to imply that he wasn't courting her because she was undesirable. People just read that into it. They assumed that's the reason he was denying it so emphatically. It's understandable that Penelope took it that way. We saw her hopes get built up so high only to be dashed so brutally. And it's human nature to jump to the worst, most painful conclusion. You pointed out her doing that in this very episode, when he wants to find somewhere they can talk alone and she assumes it's because he's ashamed to be seen with her. But, as you said, there's no evidence to suggest that. And I would argue that there's no evidence to suggest he would make fun of or insult her that way, beyond the comment itself. And the way we understand that comment is based on a lot more interpretation, assumptions, and reading between the lines than I think most people realize. None of this lets Colin off the hook. His words _did_ hurt her, and may well have hurt her prospects with those other eligible men, regardless of his intentions. She has every right to be mad at him and to tell him so. He needed to be confronted about it, and to apologize to her and make amends. But it simply doesn't make sense for Colin to step so far outside his character as to throw Penelope under the bus like that, and yet not even remember doing it, or even _suspect_ that as a reason for her sudden distance, or feel any lingering guilt over it. It seems obvious to me that it was a hurtful mistake rather than callousness, cruelty, or even trying to win the approval of his peers.
I would like to get Marina theme up in 2nd part of the season, cause I think it's in fact the largest elephant in the room. He believed himself in love with her, and without LW he could have been married to her. Actually I would like Pen to apologise for that, but then Colin to acknowledge the fact that it was not love, and understand that he avoided the biggest mistake of his life.
31:37 ya know what! that's something i haven't really thought about on my watches.. but now that you bring it up, i'm thinking maybe that is how they initially bonded over the summer? perhaps eloise was still steaming over the incident and they bonded over their dislike of penelope. but now that eloise has aired out her anger and time has passed, the emotions that are left are regret, longing, but prideful in her walls that she has up for penelope now. that would explain cressida's inital cruelty to penelope beginning of s3, which tames down after eloise clocks her for her actions. this is all purely speculative though
"This is Penelope, she likes her personal space. This is Colin. He also likes Penelope’s personal space." Made me cry laughing. The knee was CRAZY and so was him putting his whole arm around her to lead her up the stairs in the next episode. He really does love being in her personal space.
Same
I also laughed so hard when she said that!😂
It just show much they trust each other. It’s a subconscious attraction in my opinion 😊
“He’s so hot when he’s pathetic” WORDDDDDD
I love that it sounded like he never wrote to his family, but he wrote to Pen even though she never responded like she usually does. Boy is in denial so hard
I didn't even clock that! yes! or at least he wrote fewer times to his family than he wrote to Pen
I understood it as he knew his family wasn't gonna write back but was devo'd when Pen didn't lol
I must really have a chance this season!"
Can't you see how sweet he is in that scene, and what a people pleaser? Besides he already had a reputation for harmlessly, boyishly flirting with all the ladies in the Ton. This isn't really that new for him. We just haven't seen it much yet.
thats such a brilliant insight. i did not think of it that way
I never thought about it that way but the difference is his charm got more “sturdy” on his travels but he now doesn’t deep down actually like the flirting because how could people be so eh about one of the most meaningful things that people do but he didn’t make that realization fully until he finally lost the v head canon because idk if this is confirmed I think Colin was a v seasons 1&2 but lost it before season 3 and then he became the mold again that society wanted him to be only this time he actually knows what the boyish flirting should have meant yet he can’t express how he really feels about how it should be
(some mentions of things that happen in later episodes!!)
I find the 'it is all merely clothing' comment really interesting too.
@ hazelalafif awesome take on the wardrobe! I love seeing and trying to decipher the intent of the costume design team.
You need to do that video gurrrl!
Wow! Great analysis! You should really do a video!
Agree 100% She enjoys their interactions & and now gets to continue to do so.
I like when he runs after her in the goodnight Mr Bridgerton scene. Pen ask him what he is doing outside and he lies that he needed fresh air !!! 😂😂
I did not think about it! that he lied to her and didn't tell her the truth that he followed her out because she seemed upset
I want part of next season sub plot being Colin and Eloise low key fighting for Penelope’s attention it would be so funny😂😂
Eloise practically moving in with them 😂
@@simonevaessen87 like at the house every day before breakfast 😂
oh, i would love that. Colin bein angry but not willing to just throw her out because Pen is enjoying spending time with Eloise
I think it would be fun to see that in the 2nd part but if not, for sure in season 4
Oh I love it ! That's such a great idea! How cute and hilarious that would be 😂 Imagine the comic potential this chaotic Bridgerton energy has with these two and poor Pen in between 🤣 I definitely want to see a scene (or more) about this !
"El, I want some time alone with my wife"
"But I want some time with my bestie!"
"She's my wife AND my best friend, you can never achieve that 🤪 [insert Colin's face bragging] and that means I am the one who prevails over you to have the priority for the pleasure of her company ALONE."
[insert Eloise pouting and making funny faces at Colin]
😂
Cressida's maid deserves the biggest raise after Rae, she is creating abstract art with Cressida's damn hair
Haha.
The bow and arrow he gave to Gregory - when he was aiming it directly at Colin - like Cupid’s bow and arrow. Perfect.
23:34 THIS HAD ME ON THE FLOOOOOOOOR
“finish the sentence, colin! what did you tell the contessa?”
I'm so glad I found a channel I can share my bridgerton obsession with😂❤
I feel like I'm the only person who genuinely enjoyed the scenes with Colin flirting with debutantes😂.
"The winking. Disgusting. I hate to see it." Nuff said. 😂👏
It was so weird to me that I thought maybe Luke couldn't wink, but I've seen him do it in interviews now, and it had to be a direction or conscious thought to do that weird awkward wink...
@maerwynnh lol yeah I think I remember hearing him say in an interview that he hated doing that
@@molly828 Same!
Yes, I agree! I have a feeling he'll remember this conversation when he finds out her identity in part 2
I thought that was a giveaway as well. Also, when Colin asks Ell about Penelope and their friendship she mentioned Lady W in the same sentence.
Yes, Pen slipped there. You can also notice Colin looking a little bit confounded for a second.
@@prayingbansheeConfounding feelings! 😊
MUCH EXCITE!!! you are low key one of my fave youtubers, so glad I found your channel !!! truly top tier bridgerton content
SAME
39:26 part of why he realizes this more was because she did not respond to him this summer!! i'm sure that left him feeling despondent and lonely.. he literally says something like "it made me feel i was gone for years rather than months." that no contact gave him the time to reflect on their friendship, so he now knows that penelope truly has been the only one to really see him as he is
Anyone feel it for Pen’s hair comb after she runs out? I was like “noooo not the pretty hair comb?!?”😂
It comes back when she’s writing in her burn book! 😂 I wanted to believe Colin pocketed it after she ran off from the Danbury Ball.
Daphne's neklace, Pen's hair comb. These women like to loose things outside of ballrooms lol
Ty! ❤
I 100% noticed Colin's hair.... and his outfit with the green cravat is peak Colin imo
Luke said in an interview that he would never wear a wig. So i think he already had a haircut when those scenes were shot
Right, they confirmed in an interview that him and Nicola re-shot a lot of scenes because the director (or was it the showrunner) who watched one of his plays and they wanted to re-do certain things with somewhat more emphasis on his comedy-chops.
Lady Jeniva calls Colin Mr. No thoughts head empty
The rest of us: either Mr. Fingerton or “my wife” bridgerton
@@gelsominagaldieri yes and I keep saying this too. I think Quinn made Colin her version of Darcy, but that may be just me.
She mainly makes fun of him for the dumb decisions he’s made & pokes fun at how oblivious he’s been to his feelings for Pen and how he’d eat his words (which he did and has made up for since)
@@MarcyStevonshy yeah that’s fair, I can see it that way I guess
Perfection! I love everything Austen, and I hadn't thought of that!!
Nice catch!
The "I will never forgive her" line is SO Bridgerton though. They're all so dramatic. It's in their blood; they can't help it.
Colin's hair! I agree weird/wig. It also changes from gorgeous curls to weird combed smoothness... Thanks for mentioning it! ❤❤
After Pen says the line “ whisper in my ear” She flutteres her lashes like she is imagining Colin doing that. Beautiful little detail
She now has a little of her old life back
22:22 - Rae deserves a huge raise for all of her service, the woman is the season MVP, not even close.
She did actually. Every time Colin bribed her to leave them alone 😂.
She knew it was worth it haha. I hope she asked for more every time 🤭
She always raised an eyebrow and smiled every time Colin and Pen left their clandestine meet ups. She knew they were falling in love LOOONNGG before they knew. ❤ 😂
I am so glad you said the thing about the wigs because i could NOT tell why those scenes bothered me so much and almost looked like CGI. Now that I can put a reason on it I'm less unsettled about it.
His hair in the market scene and under the tree - looks terrible
@@danazomer1443And also, right after the Queen made her declaration, and Colin walks out , Pen catches up to him and he wants her to give up L W, and she explains that he can’t understand because he is a man- the wig bothered me too 😊MRS.E.E.ZAYAS
as soon as i saw this notification, i KNEW what i was gonna be watching as i eat dinner
.I started to rewatch and the little things i noticed in episode 1, there is so much I miss out.
My man ...😐
Also, Collin takes a triple take at Penelope and the whole ball is in Penelope perception.
Greetings from Germany 💜 I enjoy your videos so much!
I thought this was the whole season review but just episode one and 48 minutes to review it?? I am sat for this and every other review to come!
When she says that “he can’t whisper in her ear” I took that as he can be there telling her what to say to her suitors
Really like your insights. I find them pretty spot on.
agree about the wig, the scene with pen and Colin under the willow tree also might be? always thought his hair looked different there
It’s so funny to me how I never noticed at all until I watched The Pink Podcast react to episode 1 and they IMMEDIATELY clocked his hair changed between each shot of him at the garden party LMAO
Carriage end. Fingers pulling up dress sleeve. Luke confirmed he did that intentionally on his own in the role. In a recent interview 🎉
I hope you do a recap for each episode😁🙏🏽
Perfect timing, I NEEDED this
would love if you do this for every episode!! i really like this format better than a first time reaction.
THE HAIR YESS it was bothering me so much. theres such a difference between the shot of colin looking at pen and them under neath the willow tree
Lolllll love that I found this channel! Your quips are ☺️
I wonder if they threw in Colin messing up marinas name so much randomly this season specifically in front of Eloise because they’re hinting that Eloise is going to be the true lady crane
I got real mad at Colin for a second when he smirked at Eloise’s new reading material. (A. I object to categorizing Austen as primarily romantic literature but I understand why people do and there’s nothing wrong with romantic literature it’s just a genre nerd argument thing on my part; and B. Penelope loves romantic stories Colin, she tells Debling so, and YOU LOVE THEM TOO, you goofy-ass fog-filled rose-garden kiss-dreaming wattpad-journalling sentient puddle of tears and drool for the sake of Penelope Fetherington.)
Ye’d best start believin’ in silly romances, Mr. Bridgerton…YER IN ONE! 🏴☠️💖
Your Emma point coincides with my Easter egg theory. Eloise is enjoying her new romance book. In the book, Emma invites herself to “help” friends to better their lives and find love/perfect matches. (Eh hem, Colin)
Then, towards the end of Emma, it is obvious that the true love match was surprisingly Emma herself. 👍🏻
There is also the thought that Eloise is next in line, if you think about the ordering of books and how “Emma” was actually next … so Eloise’s book is next.
I read somewhere that he actually calls it a silly novel (silly romance?) because that's how she used to call books like that. So that's actually not his opinion, he's just saying it back to her.
Yeasssss I have been waiting for your in-depth recap
I don’t know about reshoots bt I saw an interview where Nicola mentioned tht they shot 2 episodes at a time n the first thing tht she n Luke N shot together was at the ball in ep 2 where she speaks to a Viscount n finds out tht his horse just died..
The way I can tell which scenes are reshoots just by looking at the Colin's hair.
(Of course we know he did eat, but not important for the normal Colin eating all the biscuits he normally would have.)
Must say, your channel is refreshing and I’m here for it. Thank you for all you do! I’m learning lots. ❤
Yesss thank you i have been needing more content and i am here so early 🤌
What makes me laugh more in Colin's "charm" scene in the garden party is that he goes from group to group, and tells them clearly: I don't want to marry you, I'm not interested, other men will be, and will make you dance. I won't fight for you. All with his weird pseudo charm, but a fake smile, and his eyes often searching for what he really wants: Penelope.
What excellent listening material as I sew a doll sized bridgerton outfit!
37:38 colin literally be like *youuu areee the only exception*
@cndcarolina thank you for sharing this information because him writing on his own due to the loss of Pen's letters makes it all so much more special
He bought gifts from different places so yes he went.
Re the casting, you’ve seen the ones comparing Eloise and Edmund (who never actually appear together on screen)?
Okay I’m super stoned rn BUT HEAR ME OUT the bee as a symbol is kinda sick but then that got me thinking…crucifixes have the exact same energy.
I can’t say if this is an argument for or against Bridgertons having a morbid bee motif. 😂
It’s giving ‘wear that trauma like armour so it never hurts you 😅’
I hope that Colin’s feelings on the Marina situation come to a middle ground later on this season.
I really enjoy your resumes 🙂. Hello from Mexico.
Allow me to make my case:
First of all, it would be incredibly out of character for him.
Sooo gonna need you to drop the ep 2 recap literally right now????
I would like to get Marina theme up in 2nd part of the season, cause I think it's in fact the largest elephant in the room. He believed himself in love with her, and without LW he could have been married to her. Actually I would like Pen to apologise for that, but then Colin to acknowledge the fact that it was not love, and understand that he avoided the biggest mistake of his life.
Anthony and Francesca was SO fucking sweet as an older brother… 🥹
31:37 ya know what! that's something i haven't really thought about on my watches.. but now that you bring it up, i'm thinking maybe that is how they initially bonded over the summer? perhaps eloise was still steaming over the incident and they bonded over their dislike of penelope. but now that eloise has aired out her anger and time has passed, the emotions that are left are regret, longing, but prideful in her walls that she has up for penelope now. that would explain cressida's inital cruelty to penelope beginning of s3, which tames down after eloise clocks her for her actions. this is all purely speculative though
