    I’d love to use them on my 31 truck that I’m fixing to redo and build it myself. I got screwed over on a “custom frame” 10 years ago when I was 18 and it discouraged me so bad I parked it. Well now I’m self teaching myself to weld and I’m fixing to tackle the 31. Thanks for the info!!

That was the best part of them cars,, and maybe everybody will copy you again and start putting fenders back on there , they look like a bird with its wings ripped off or like if you rippied the legs off a woman , it's all probably because nobody has any skills on the English wheel anymore?

    I like the hell out of that and damn you don't need to be an artist to do it when you watch you do it. Course it helps that I can draw a little. Not world class but different cartoon characters and scenery stuff. I'm too old to put in the contest, I just wanted to comment. I would put them on my Harley if I still had her but my kid got off with it cause I didn't get the wind in my face much anymore. I'm 72 and only drive my explorer now. All my kids got off with my toys and now that I don't have a lot other than my strat and a old martin that they don't play so I'm safe for a while. I love your channel and watch it a lot. I liked building diesels, my grandson got my 95 king cab mint 7.3 twin turbo five speed dually with the custom aluminum bed and I split the exhaust to go out the back rather than up the side. I could hear the stereo that way/LOL. Five inch from the front doors back and over the axle and out the sides. I stretched the rail spring bored out the fuel lines into the heads, did the mods under the fuel heater and got rid of the intake heater. It didn't roll coal but you could tell mods had been done and it was long legged. If I still had that I would of put them on the flaps on the back. Thats all right cause I'll haunt them when I tip over.

    No question that'd make a bad ass set of mud flap brackets on my COE, boxing my frame rails in in polished aluminum I'd have to weld a piece of 1" flat bar on the back side of the shoe to hang the flaps on, weld up the hole an powder coat them but that'd be a set of kick ass mud flap brackets

    It looks lie they would restrict up and down movement in the front suspension, unless they are bending to compensate. The more horizontal the line connecting the toe and butt of each lady leg is the less resistance to chassis movement there will be, but all movement will be due to flex at the bolts through the ends of the spring , and with massive leverage. This is why most friction shocks have a link with heim ends, connecting the foot end of the lady leg to the front axle, as you had on the completed chassis you started the video with. Someone with their chassis end much higher then the foot end of the lady leg in your design might well end up snapping his spring bolt off on hitting a hard bump at speed. This can be very disruptive.
    I always enjoy your show.

    I think I'll just have to come down to the shop and see em for myself. I would love to build up my 59 El Camino into something similar to the D rod. I want the car to look like it threw up the motor and is rejecting it I want to put a straight axel set up up front it has to look evil.

  • @roberteverette4766
    @roberteverette4766 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really like your video. It is a big help on building my own friction shock. There is one thing i am not sure of, what is the thickness of the metal to use? I am building a T Bucket using a 46 Ford P/U axle and quarter elliptical springs. I plan on using trailer springs cutting one end off. On the axle I'll bolt a 4" sq. x 3/8" plate where the spring use to go and weld tabs onto it for the spring eyes to mount to. The bolt will also be used for the lower shock arm to. (or maybe a pair of legs)

    I absolutely love your style and how you figure put how to get done what you need. If you don't have it you build it or make it like rancher riggin or the past presidential type engineering if you will for political correctness. I just bought my first and hopefully last brand new pickup this year in an 18 dodge diesel with the last year to be available 6 speed manual. I eventually want to put a deer smasher bumper and a flatbed on the ram, which seeing this video has my mind working overtime on putting lady legs into the bumper and flatbed both. It would be hilarious because ironically my wife drives the pickup 90% of the time as it doubles as our family buggy so a lady driving the 6 speed ram with lady legs in the bumper and flatbed would be pretty bitchin, at least I think haha. Keep the content comin sir, I enjoy the hell out of all of it and hopefully when I grow up (not likely) I can use some welderup tips and tricks for my own rat rod. I've always been a crew cab diesel pickup guy, except for classic and muscle cars but always thought diesel motor not big block, then low and behold this show called Vegas Rat Rods comes on the tube and blows my mind!

    Before I retired I was able to get a very old and twisted fiberglass 32 highboy body. Being retired I had more time than money but over the next year built a nice hot rod. The legs would look sexy on my 32, I get looked down on by some builder's at the meets showing up in my old ratty fiberglass 32 just think how I could brag that the legs came from WelderUp.
