my largest asthetic problem with pikmin 4 is its overtly designed aspects. From the generic material, to the crystal walls, the areas lose something that pikmin 3 did better i feel, a sense of reality. Still love both games though. Just a small thing.
Texture quality and lighting are technically better in 4, but 3 feels so much more artistic somehow. The look of 4 feels too generic, while 3 feels like it had more personality. I don't know how to explain it well, other than to say Pikmin 3 still WOWS me, while 4 absolutely doesn't.
My dude, you see way more in 4 than you can in 3. Most of the time in 3, you are looking down at the pikmin whereas in 4, you can see a lot more of the scene horizontally- in other words, the vision of the artists in 4 is better realized. That's my take.

Unrelated but i really think the new characters are a good bit worse than the previous games could be pikmin 3 nostalgia but im curious if anyone thinks this too
Nintendo went the extra mile when designing this game! As someone who has been waiting years for this game, I can't praise them enough for this! Don't get me wrong, it isn't perfect, but Nintendo still gave a whole lot of effort for one of their more underappreciated franchises. Nintendo could have simply cheaped out and literally use the exact same engine as Pikmin 3 because Pikmin doesn't sell, but they didn't! That's really what helps make this game special!
Well of course Pikmin 4 uses unreal engine, most of the tech you mentioned are stock features of UE4, but forgot to mention something very important that Nintendo finally did with one of their games, they used anti aliasing!😂
one thing Pikmin 3 has over 4 is it rains on random days giving the areas a different tone something Pikmin 4 doesn't have

Completely agree. 3's art style and direction are much more visually appealing to me than 4's, despite the better graphics.
Fun fact unrelated to pikmin 4: the s.s. drake in pikmin 3 has more polygons than the entire perplexing pool from pikmin 2

Yeah 4 is such a huge graphic upgrade!! Also a big leap in QOL updates like the dog, L/R pikmin cycling, etc.
