    Correction: What You’re Doing is on the Beatles for Sale album, not Rubber Soul. The last 12 string song was “If I Needed Someone”, which is from the Rubber Soul album.

    • @rockinrobb4350
      @rockinrobb4350 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Technically your right Nic it appeared on "Beatles for Sale " in the UK but it appeared on Beatles VI in North America because Capital Records decided to alter the content of the bands albums here in the US which never made any sense to me! It was a McCartney song credited to Lennon-McCartney written in Atlantic city by Paul after the 1964 world tour! LONG LIVE THE FAB FOUR (Great job on that beautiful Ric by the way)

      @itslikethesamebutdifferent8020 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rockinrobb4350 yeah I heard Capitol messed with the releases over in the states for some unknown reason. Tho it was on Beatles VI as you stated but in the video he says rubber soul so I believe he was going by the UK releases. One thing I’ve noticed is when doing these compilations most people follow the UK releases as they’re more universally recognized than the US Capitol releases which are only local.

      For sure. I did a live stream in which I argued that one could make a solid argument that George is the best rock guitar player ever. It all depends on the qualifications and definition of best. Thanks so much for checking out the video. I really appreciate your time and comment. Take care and have a great weekend. Mark

      Believe me, being a bona fide Beatles geek, I've really heard it. LOL. Good catch. I'm pretty sure the error was made in appending the wrong bit during editing as I know every Beatles song on every Beatles album, or perhaps I genuinely got it wrong. Thanks so much for checking out the video. I appreciate your time and comment. Have a great day and take care. Mark

    Personally, I would have put your #3 at the top of my list - _If I Needed Someone._ That song has stoked my musical furnace since the day it was released. It was on the "Yesterday And Today" album in the US; I think in UK it was on "Rubber Soul"?

      This sounds like it's gonna be good. By the way Mark, I've moved up to a 0.88 mm pick. Ive found it's easier and better. Just like you said, working my way up, not working up to anything in particular, but it does become easier the thicker you go, to an extent I'm sure. I'm not sure about playing with a 4 mm pick. Anyway, thanks for the help, and the 12 string is still sounding gorgeous.

    "If I Needed Someone" Amazing riff, amazing song, amazing album, amazing guitarist, amazingly underrated and under- used songwriter. The Beatles are perfect in my mind and I have no complaints of their body of the art of sound. but I sometimes wonder what their albums would have been like had they utilised more of George's songs. When you listen to " . . . All Things Must Pass," you get an idea, but what would those and other songs have sounded like had they been on Revolver or Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band? Would not some of them been great additions to the White Album? Listening to "It's Only A Northern Song," and "It's All Too Much," from the oft-under-appreciated Yellow Submarine only makes me imagine more of Harrison's unused works and their possible trailheads.
    The Beatles were and are awesome and more than just a band, they were a 10-year Moment; an event; a milestone in all the lives they touched, and George helped make it all that much more grand.

I usually do my own but I just bought the Spark and I went to the cloud thinking that everything on there was just open source. I didnt realize that it came from another youtube channel. I have subsequently checked out the channel and it's fantastic. Did I use a rhythm track from Michael Sokil? I don't know who that is either but I know I got a couple from the Spark. Hey Tom. Its tough to get definitive info online. I have tons of Beatles books and between the two sources, theres a lot of disagreement as to what songs use a 12 string. I Dont Want To Spoil the Party has been point to as a classic 12 string solo for years but I've read in multiple places that its the Country Gentleman double tracked. Trying to get accurate info on Zeppelin is even harder. The three living members dont even agree on things. Lol. Run sounds like a 12 to me. Anyway, thanks for checking out the video. Mark

      Hey CV. I'm not sure if I flaked out or miscut the video. What You're Doing is the 13th song on BFS. I know every song on every Beatles album. I am a Beatles nut. I own over 100 Beatles books (including a first printing of the Hunter Davies book) and I've been to 4 international Beatles conventions...and I was a finalist in the trivia contest once. All that being said, I stand corrected here. Lol. I have a couple of close friends that will never let me live that down if they see it. If it didnt already have 3000 views I'd recut it. Good catch my friend. If you have time, check out my covers of A Day in the Life and Lucy in the Sky. I think you'll really enjoy them. The videos to both are pretty cool too. Thanks again. -Mark

    I came here after searching for the walnut 360/12 to watch reviews/demos... I miss my 1980 Rick 360/12. I also had a nice 1976 white and black tuxedo 320.. Rare guitar now. Should have never sold them!

    I love If I Fell as George strums all the way thought the song and picks out several chords and a few transending chords.

    Great stuff. Thanks.
    Good for you for pronouncing Brian Epstein's surname correctly.
    There is some disagreement about the intro. to 'Every Little Thing' - some say John wrote and played it.

    I'm 60+ and a life long Beatles fan and it it is jaw that the number of songs that used the 12-string has never registered with me so clearly before. I think I must have thought it was doubled or something, or Rickenbackers just sounded like that not noticing the extra strings.

      Hey Gabriel. I did for one track (if I needed someone). I thanked them. I actually got the backing track in the Spark Amp Cloud and didnt realize it was linked to a youtube video. Until this video, I had never heard of Ably HB. Great band. I'm guessing you've seen Get Back? Amazing. I have a ton of complete
      Beatles cover with my own tracks if you're interested. I did pretty cool covers of A Day in the Life and Lucy. Either way, thanks for watching this one. I appreciate your time and comment. Take care and be well. Mark

    Hey man, just ordered an Eastwood 12 string electric and it should be here tomorrow, so I'm checking out the video for the first time. I can't help but wonder what the #4 song is? I think you went from #5 to #3 here... What is the #4 beatles 12 string song?? haha.

      Hey Charles
      You wouldn't believe it. I played the solo to A Hard Day's Night. I've used the clip in probably 5 videos. All of a sudden, some guy tells me that I copied his direct recording of it. Honestly, I did it like 4 years ago and I used to use ozone to clean up backing tracks and solo over them. But, my recording was uploaded before his. Doesn't matter. He sent all of his followers to attack me. My wife has some health issues that we had just found out about at the time. Obviously, these people don't care. It got to the point where the easiest thing to do was just to remove it and apologize for something I didn't even do. What baffles me is that I play Cliffs of Dover and Mood for a Day on my channel, why would I need to copy the solo to A Hard Day's Night. Anyway, sorry for the rant but that's why there's a skip. :). Have a great weekend and please take care.
      Mark

    Didn't John play Across the Universe on a 12 string?

  • @FiendishThingy1965

    Cool video, but a couple of corrections:
    Every little thing has 12 string throughout, and was played by John on his 325/12
    What You’re Doing was on Beatles For Sale, not Rubber Soul
    Jangle On!

      I'm still kicking myself for the What You're Doing gaffe. I know every song on every album. Hell, I know the running times for every song. LOL. It was an editing mistake and my buddies won't let me live it down. Every Little thing does have that understated part. Great call on that. You have trumped my Beatledom sir. Please let me make it up with this: LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS COVER AND LESSON th-cam.com/video/vZdVOj1wSr8/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=8MinuteAxe. I think you'll enjoy it. Please let me know. Have a great weekend and take care. -Mark
