    I’m blown away, overwhelmed & slightly emotional about how this video has been received. At a time where we’re all re evaluating our priorities, I’m so happy that my dad & I decided to do this. Dad - If you ever decide to come out of retirement the door is open for you to have your own show. Thanks for everything, love you loads.

      Lee, you guys are a great inspiration around the world ( all the way over here in the US ) and the main reason I personally got back into playing in 2017 after taking a break in 2012. I look forward to your guys uploads every day and hope you, your family, and Andertons staff are staying safe at home and getting a good break! Thanks for sharing this awesome look into your family history and legacy of Andertons! Cheers man! Also, make sure to check on Pete every now and then while he's locked down at the shop 😉 he seemed to be going a lil whacky the last video 😅😂

      There is nothing that can replace those years of experience, that turn into wisdom. Its not a happy thought, but no one is getting any younger, so it's our obligation to listen and pass on the wonderful stories that older folks have to share.

    • @cchavez248
      @cchavez248 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As an American, I must say it's almost too relaxing to listen to older British men talk. They fade in and out a bir, raising and lowering their voices as they speak which is a bit distracting for me. I had to replay this video a few times to hear and understand some of the softer bits.

    • @lmcf_gtr

      Honestly I entirely agree. This guy really reminds me of Brian May as to how they tell stories of "the good ol' days" and it's so fascinating to me. Funny to see that Lee's dad and Brian had a similar upbringing! London with dad's who loved building things because they had no money!

    What a great story. I can’t tell you how important Andertons TV is to my well being. I’m from Canada and have yet purchased anything from Andertons, but I have purchased many things from my friendly neighbourhood music store because of you guys. I think the music industry owes Andertons and Lee (The Captain) much gratitude. I also think that Danish Pete deserves a pay raise from Andertons and Fender. ;) Keep up the great work guys. I really appreciate what you’re doing.

Andertons really need to get behind the Ukulele, the ultimate introduction to string instruments for young and old.

    Great video Lee and a period I know well as I had a similar journey to your dad working at Jones & Crossland in the early 70's in Birmingham. Eventually bought the business in 84 & would meet your dad at dealer events for the likes of Roland & Simmons. I seem to remember him at an event for Yamaha held in Monaco, all very glamorous:) Great Story & my has he aged well! Sold my store to Carlsbro in the 90's but had a brief return in 2004 when I started World Guitars which the late Jeff Pumfrett bought from me in 2008. My best wishes & regards to both you and all the best in these unbelievably difficult times.

    Wow that was a trip down memory lane. Born in Guildford in 1958 and still here. Bought my first electric in the early 70s from the Stoke Fields shop - a Columbus Les Paul copy. Also bought my first proper amp - a WEM ER40 with 2x12 cab. I certainly remember Harry in the shop. I also hired some PA equipment for my first gig from the small shop across the road (perhaps that was the original store). That would have been 1975/76. The gig was at the hall in West Clandon opposite the Onslow Arms (where my current band played quite recently). Recruited Peter our bass player via the notice board (I think the advert said something like "own teeth and private income preferred"!). So still a customer after all these years and fascinating to hear how it all started. And yes, Lee, your dad is correct about the Guildford accent - more of a Hampshire burr, but not heard so much these days. Had forgotten about the North Street shop!
