    The 2020 / 2021 Mazda BT-50 has arrived and is now sharing mechanical hardware with the new 2020 Isuzu D-Max. This includes a 3-litre 4JJ1 turbo-diesel engine with 140kW (188HP) and 450Nm.
    If you think the BT-50 looks like some of the other Mazda range, it should as the same designer who penned the CX-9 and Mazda 2 is responsible for the look of the new ute.
    More importantly, Mazda Australia was heavily involved with this project, as Australia is one of Mazda’s key global markets - meaning, the BT-50 has essentially been developed for us.

    Re the transmission. The current Isuzu has the same auto transmission as the Toyota Hilux. Is the new BT-50 / Dmax auto a carryover from the superseded Dmax, therefore same as the HiLux?

    • @Drivecomau
      @Drivecomau  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The new D-Max has a 6-speed 'Rev-tronic' auto and a 6-speed manual option. Looking at the ratios from the Thai brochure, it matches those in the current Hilux - suggesting it remains the same. Note that it has a different rear differential.

      That's my driving position Greg - I'm 6'3" and from that position my wrists are on top of the wheel. Yes, Android and Apple Support on the infotainment system. Most pickups still have drum brakes as the fronts do more work, drums are easier and cheaper to maintain and tend to be more efficient with a load in the back - you'll note that a more lifestyle oriented ute like a Raptor has discs.
      And yes, that was the best we could do with a small window of time - we'll have the car for longer than 45mins when it arrives properly and will do a full assessment then. Cheers for watching!

If not for that, it would be a total winner. The 4cyl 4jj1 is leaps and bounds better than the 5 pot piece of junk. might be minus 200cc, but the plus outweighs that 10 fold.

      Ein Felder and yet ford and Mazda use the same junk engine, putting out more power. People are getting sick of 4cylinder Diesel engines, why can’t we have the 3.0L v6 twin turbo diesel. It would shit all over, any vehicle! Vw and merc! know what’s up, shame about the rest of their vehicles though!

    The front is pretty like Mazda. But the rear taillights like the old Isuzu have to be updated 90% by Mazda fans saying The rear light looks like Isuzu Dua very old model. Need led rear lights

    The look ? 'Not quite' is being nice and while I find Mazda cars look pretty good, this, much like the previous model, is a circular cluster-bonk of mismatched lines and overly soft melty angles. Being fair, I do like the interior. That said, I drive a 2018 XT auto and I really like it with the possible exception of the average at best fuel economy and a gear box that needs 20 minutes to have a moment before kicking down. A must have for the new model to see my money will be a rear diff lock as standard and a much better ride and handling arrangement than the current D Max. Thanks for the video..

    Is the drive train the same as the D-Max too?

    • @xr6tgtx737
      @xr6tgtx737 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it's 95 percent Dmax
      Drive line 100 percent Dmax
      Frame 100 percent Dmax
      Interior 100 percent Dmax
      Only difference is the mazda front end, which looks pretty nice imho
      In saying that, I'm sure Mazda had a lot of input with the interior lay out, it looks very much like a Mazda cabin.
      Which isn't a bad thing, Mazda are good at making a cabin feel upmarket.

    It terms of design I like it more compared to previous model...i wish it has 10" center touchscreen, 360 cameras/sensor, cooling stuff on its compartment for drinks, remote control (start/off engines, power windows, aircon) since its slowly becoming a standard now a days like the Chinese brands geely coolray, cherry tiggo 8 ex and some features of it.... Chinese cars are fast becoming like high end European brands... I wish this one has it because it will be a huge plus factor. If it has that then it's competitors will really be in trouble. But in general I love the design of this pick up both the exterior and interior but it still lacks muscle looks like the Ford ranger raptor.

    We are only seeing the high spec interior here. While it's posh, it doesn't look as practical and durable for the rough stuff. I dislike leather anyway, and what about a more sustainable and Vegan interior option? That is cheaper to replace should it get scratched, flood damage, etc.
    While everyone might prefer this interior compared to the outgoing model, we also need to realise that the interior in Mazda's other models will still be more appealing and better reviewed - think Mazda3 (and CX-30), and future models that should follow that design or even improve upon it, like the Mazda6 & CX-5, CX-50?
    For one of the high specs, they should offer a variant with more comfortable rear multi-link suspension, in 2WD and 4WD. Edit: Also, rear disc brakes. These could have a lot of demand in some markets, and for those carrying family members regularly.
