I built this with my son, we glittered it up and added a little bit of mounting modification, it's now our Gundam Angel Christmas tree topper that comes out every year.
I've built this one, back when Walmart sold it still. This was light years ahead of the non-grade 1/144 Wing line and I was so impressed with the quality at the time.
This brings back memories when Gundam Wing aired on Toonami! It initially got me into gunpla! I had built this one as a beginner and I can still remember the smell initially opening this exact box.
I was given two HG kits before I fully understood what gunpla was for my 12th birthday. This was one, and Char's Zaku II was the other. Man, it brings me sweet memories from such times.
I had this back in the 90s when I was starting out. Back then, I thought it was a cool build. The RG and the two MGs have changed my thinking over time. I would love to try my hands at the PG.
I built this entire line when it came out. They're decent enough kits. I thought it interesting that the Gundam(except for Nataku I think) all have extra parts to recreate some of the scenes from the movie.
only Heavy arms don't come with extra parts.. Nataku came in with extra red arm extenders to elongate both dragon fangs or super elongate one dragon fang
I have that one plus Nataku and Serpent. However, I have to throw them away since most of the parts are either broken or missing due to my family moving houses from time to time.
btw. the old MSRP was 1000 yen. I love that these come with different body options to make more dynamic poses. It's really helpful for meele suits like the Deathscythe Hell and Sandrock custom.
I remember this HG run, came out when I was in middle school. I built the heavy arms custom and deathscythe custom in this 1/144 series. the deathscythe was your run-of-the-mill early gen HG kit but the heavyarms actually came with some action pieces - open or closed missle pods.
This was my first gunpla, Christmas 2001. Though it didn't survive, I still have the instruction manual. Currently, I have 3 of the RG, two of the HG 1/100, the MG, and the Ver Ka.
That was the first gunpla I bought at Walmart too lol. But to be fair I just recently started getting into it for little over a year. That memory of building that kit is what made me want to really get in it.
I built this back when you could get it on the Walmart shelves. It's a nice kit as long as you don't pose it too much, the wings and other parts wear out pretty easy... But it does still look nice for it's age! I think it may have been my first or 2nd Gunpla..... And now I have hundreds. Mistakes were made.
Endless Waltz is my Christmas Movie tradition which I need to watch yearly! Finally got time to build my Heavy Arms Custom. Really wish they release anther Serpent Custom, the old ones are really hard to find. Still looking for one.
The one thing that I would suggest for a straight up way to improve things for the old Wing Kits is to grab one of the Zeon/Square Hands option sets from the build stuff. Those match the kits rather well, and the polycap hands included in the kits are crap. I just replaced the ones on my Serpent kit... The closed fists are the most workable there though since they don't need to support anything Also, the reason the handles fold is because you can't put both grips in hands for the pose for shooting the double rifle, pick one hand to hold it and the other with a fist. Other than the yellow, most of the color correcting stickers look like they'd be easy to do with gundam markers...same with the white missing from the feet.
This was one of my first kits back in the day…the feels…I wish I still had it. It was also later used as my first painting practice kit. I want to say I used fingernail clippers to clip out the parts😅
Nataku was my first kit that I ever built. I built this one as well as the other EW kits. Oddly enough, if not for gundam I’d probably never have learned Japanese and consequently moved to Japan.
I made that kit around when it was showing on cartoon Network. I wish that they could make a H.G. updated upgraded version. After seeing and putting together the real grade version, I really wish they could release a updated high grade one even more. The one thing that people might be able to salvage from this kit is the backpack. So if somebody wants to put on extra gun towards with wings or an extra thrusters on back. If anyone wants to make it look accurate to the show, it it's going to take a huge undertaken. Back then they only had one color for the foot, so you better have a good quality white paint.
I had the Tallgeese III kit from this same lineup. I was kind of shocked at the time at how unsatisfied I felt with how it turned out, and it turned me off of modeling for many years to the point where I just enjoy seeing other peoples' gunpla haha
Maybe it's because childhood factor, but no matter how ridiculous the wings are, Wing Zero EW's design is "magically" charming, so do the rest of Gundams. And yes, Endless Waltz is christmas movie for Gundam fans because it's occured in the Eve night 😂
I bought this a few years back at a convention and I loved it but I decided to take it apart so I could use it for components for a high-grade 144 kit bash that looks like the new era plus thunderbolt but I upgraded my ew wing zero using the chest from the more modern Wing zero high grade so I didn't really need the chest of the original anymore but I still needed everything else and because of swapping out the legs as well for the more modern one I was able to make a high grade version ver Ka mg that could transform and hold the shield thanks to a magnet in the forearm and one in the body of the backpack and one in the shield But also you should convert to make your own doing a kit bash and if you can take the modern shenlong and do the same thing with the altron ew and the backpack from the TV altron to make the glory of losers version
I still have my Deathscythe-Hell Custom from back then. Between me, a buddy who had the Altron Custom (I *refuse* to call it "Nataku", Wufei, stop being a weirdo!!), and an ex-girlfriend who had Sandrock Custom, I'm the only one who still HAS the respective kit. I intentionally passed on ol' Feathers *because* the wings were single pieces, I knew that better would come along someday (the MG from 2004 that would be retooled into Wing Gundam ver.Ka)...and that was a kit that deserved better, too. Also, a HIGH GRADE with Ungraded style mono color single piece molded beam sabers is absolutely inexcusable and unacceptable. My poor D-Hell Custom is little more than a junker zombie now, though. And given how Bandai chose to handle the newer HGAC TV Gundam Wing kits (Wing ZERO is the only one of the upgrades to be a regular retail release; "Heavyarms Custom", Altron, and _Deathscythe-Hell_ are P-Bandai exclusives!! Whodafuqever thought that was a good idea!?
Man old gunpla are so charming I'd love to collect a bunch and try to make them as best as they can possibly look like, though where I live it's already hard to get the modern stuff and buying online is extremely expensive
i'm surprised this did not have the "skill level" printed on the box, if i remember correctly Bandai rated this at a 3. You should also check the runners to see the date this was printed, most of the Gunpla that was sold in the US market was manufactured between 2000 and 2003.

I came here just to answer the thumbnail, yes it is.
and I came to this comment to agree.
It's my favorite Christmas movie, along with Batman Returns.
Greatest Christmas movie since Rocky IV
Ooh don't forget Die Hard, great Christmas movie for the family.
0080 is also a Christmas…ova!

@barnacoltigidongs2482 Heavyarms came with an alternate face. A clown face from the scene when the 3 Gundam go to Earth to help Zechs and Noin.
This Deathscythe was one of my very first gunpla, cant wait for the video and the nostalgia trip!
Idk if it Christmas movie, but 0080 is still the best christmas OVA
Loving the nostalgia trip with this Gundam kit! 🚀👌
This video brough back so many childhood memories . Thank you
The HG Serpent was my first ever gunpla. I was hooked. Not too long after, I got the MG Ver. Ka Wing Gundam.
Technically it’s a Christmas ova.
My ver ka is my tree topper this year
It isn't Christmas until wing zero is sure your shelter shield is protected
P.S. my heart broke a little when you opened that seal 😢
I have old HG HeavyArms Endless Waltz built back in my highschool days. A Blast from the past just sharing my stories with! ☺☺
I have that one plus Nataku and Serpent. However, I have to throw them away since most of the parts are either broken or missing due to my family moving houses from time to time.
didn't expect you to review these old kits
btw. the old MSRP was 1000 yen. I love that these come with different body options to make more dynamic poses. It's really helpful for meele suits like the Deathscythe Hell and Sandrock custom.
I would love to see a review of the old pg as well!!
It's the best gundam Christmas movie ever made.
I remember this HG run, came out when I was in middle school. I built the heavy arms custom and deathscythe custom in this 1/144 series. the deathscythe was your run-of-the-mill early gen HG kit but the heavyarms actually came with some action pieces - open or closed missle pods.
This was the first kit i ever built. Back then i knew nothing about building and twisted all the pieces off the runners
Man blast from the past. That was one of my favs back when they came out. They were the perfect toys since they were durable xD
Yes both 0080 and Endless Waltz are Christmas movies
This was my first gunpla, Christmas 2001. Though it didn't survive, I still have the instruction manual. Currently, I have 3 of the RG, two of the HG 1/100, the MG, and the Ver Ka.

i remember buying this at an import store in orlando

ESE SIEMPRE ES Y SERA EL REGALO ESPECIAL DE UNA NAVIDAD .

They have a sandrock kit for time period, that a extra middle section for better action too
A relic from the past 😮
I had this kit back in the day. Wish I kept it.
Yes. It even states it during the Serpent drop that the events happen during Christmas of A.C 197.
I had the Tallgeese III kit from this same lineup. I was kind of shocked at the time at how unsatisfied I felt with how it turned out, and it turned me off of modeling for many years to the point where I just enjoy seeing other peoples' gunpla haha

Yes I have it good time childhood 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I still have some of the action figures from that pamphlet.
They're not bad, bad. I have them up for my 1/144 display of Wing kits. But I hope these designs do get the HGAC treatment or RG.
I still have my Deathscythe-Hell Custom from back then. I didn't even know this kit existed.
they need to make the EW Gundams in HGAC
the EW designs needs a HGAC release as we only have them as MG kits.
Man old gunpla are so charming
I'd love to collect a bunch and try to make them as best as they can possibly look like, though where I live it's already hard to get the modern stuff and buying online is extremely expensive
the box art are the best on these old kits
@@kidrobot. i agree, they make for great posters
@@kidrobot. Absolutely
They have these amazing bright colours and are obviously hand drawn so they deserve a spot on my wall as posters
My childhood🥰
This kit needs a new P-Bandai upgrade. Yes, it has a RG release already but I’m a HG collector.
Wow, this was one of my first gunpla! I didn’t know you had to use nippers as a 10 year old, so I twisted the parts from the sprues…
I've got a question: how is the backpack attatched to the Mobile Suit on this one? Specifically, whats the peg arrangement like?
Hey man, I have one of those old USA retail releases of the HG RX-78-2 you could review. Hell I have an extra 1990 HG Zeta if you want to review that.
i'm surprised this did not have the "skill level" printed on the box, if i remember correctly Bandai rated this at a 3. You should also check the runners to see the date this was printed, most of the Gunpla that was sold in the US market was manufactured between 2000 and 2003.
Yeah I thought that as well 🤔
Rg still the best wing zero as of now
The biggest problem is that it cost much more than the RG rn since it has been a while since this was reissued
I still have this kit but the polycap hands have since disintegrated.
Oof! The Build Custom hands parts should work on this!
I mean it takes place in Christmas.😅
yes, its a Christmas movie
I want new Serpent kits HG MG both
Why does he look like he's doing the 🤨 in the thumbnail
I still have mine old and floppy af
This is screaming for Revive update. RG got old tech syndrome.
MGSD is good but I rather see HG Revive of this kit.
please guys do not breathe +20 year old air
😌😌😌Not the only one who did that!
Relaxing likes love and care for you awe.
