This was my very first gunpla. My parents got it for me for Christmas back in like 2000. No nippers, no paint, no sanding. Just snapping pieces off the runners and pulling nubs off with pliers. Simple times
The backpack is meant to tilt. The polycap will pivot, bringing the bottom of the wings backwards and the top forwards, then the square peg is used to hold the tilt for action poses. The square peg is folded down to straighten the backpack for the closed cape mode.
Because of the design and its simplicity along withh the strong shapes it's definitely the best looking one of the three kits you reviewed so far. At a glance it looks like a 2010's HG. Not bad
Oof, this was the first gunpla I ever built, picked up off a pile at a comic book convention. Had no idea what I was doing and absolutely butchered the dark plastic with my dad's beat up wire cutters and a swiss army knife. Still loved it, though.
I remember this line being marketed as a speed-building kit. This is the kit that got me back into Gunpla after a horrible experience with a Gelgoog kit that required glue.
@kidrobot. checked the instructions myself and what do you know my memory works. All the GE EW gundams had it. An option part as they would say. Build this one twice
I still have mine from years and years ago. At the time I just snap built it and panel lined it with some thinned acrylic paint. It would be cool one day to dig it out of the pile and put some real work into it now that I'm deeper into the hobby (closing seams, full paint job, etc.).
I got this before we started getting the new Wing HGs, just painted the missing colors with gundam markers and got a pretty solid result. I do hope we get an updated HG of this soon enough
...YESSS!! Deathscythe is my favorite, so y'know I'm pumped to see this. Haven't you learned by now, them boxes were mad lightweight!! The kits were mad lightweight. But seeing this gives me hope that perhaps I can find this bad boy NISB. Only thing I don't like about this kit is that staff/handle for the beam scythe. The beam blade itself is more durable than that thing, which is absolute lunacy. Wing ZERO's alt torso is to enable the Buster Rifle shot pose like on the box and near the end of the movie, Deathscythe-Hell's is for the raised dual grip scythe hold, though I don't remember when that happened. I need to do an image search, though, there's one detail on this thing that bugs me: isn't there supposed to be some white or light gray on the top part of the feet??
Oddly enough, I think that the "painted" version was more using the special "metallic coating" version of the kit. Only version of these kits that occasionally seems to get a reprint are the special versions that seem like they pop up again with a reprint every few years
Reminds me of this old commercial from the 90s or early aughts where it kept bouncing between people naming their gunpla and how _fast they built it_ like it was really important. Oh wow it’s just called “Gundam Wing Model commercial” on TH-cam.
I'm only halfway through Gundam Wing, so don't spoil it for me. But I find it funny that Duo is the upbeat and friendly pilot, but he has a Gundam called Deathscythe.
Yeah I want this one so that way I can use it with parts from the modern high grade death scythe to make a more modern version of this but every site I look at for some reason this thing is like over 40 bucks minimum and then you got the altron being almost 100
I’m shocked by how many of these older kits you have. Did you buy them WAYYYYYY back when and keep them or buy them for exorbitant prices like I most likely will.
maaaaaaaaaaaaaan..... havent seen that kit since i was 15. bought that at toys r us back then. I hated how the white on the gauntlets is a sticker. And I completely forgot it came with that action pose torsoe.
I keep seeing your thumbnails for these kits thinking “Omg, there’s a new HG of that?!”, before remembering the 90’s

I built one of these a few years ago, and a fried of mine had a clear resin molding kit and made me a more accurate beam effect part.
used a green gundam marker on mine and it turned out pretty good

I love this kit, and having built this kit I can say you did a great job with those stickers, I just ended up painting those details lol

Ah memories.
If i remember it came with a second chest for a different pose.
But all needed paint to look good. But still were fun to build
watch the video and find out!

Build this one twice
Love the Deathscythe design, great review! 🚀👏
Oh, Bae, that yellow beam scissorsbeam effect part!❤❤❤
Even though these kits were made over 20 years ago, they still look pretty good honestly.

Love seeing an add for the amazing video game Gendam.... Battle Ah-Selt!!
The Altron Custom was a fun kit to build. I wouldn’t mind building this and the Sandrock
honestly the yellow beam effect looks good

You've heard of the Beam Scythe...now get ready...for the *Piss Scythe*
Flourescent blue paint on the yellow beam cythe
the nice part about this old kit, its so hollow that if you're willing to sacrifice one, you can kitbash it really well with newer kits
Absolutely!
Haha nice . I still have the hg 1/100 wing zero and wing zero custom in my backlog. Honestly, not even really thinking of building them..
Oddly enough, I think that the "painted" version was more using the special "metallic coating" version of the kit.

I really wished the kept the gray color for the MG ...as someone who sucks at painting model kits

Whew! Crazy! It’ll get a new kit eventually, or at least a reprint so that you can get this kit closer to MSRP 👍
Thoughts on giving this kit an upgrade with modern joints?
I've used a spare Entry Grade for the joints before and it worked well. Make sure you use a proper plastic cement and not super glue.
I’m shocked by how many of these older kits you have. Did you buy them WAYYYYYY back when and keep them or buy them for exorbitant prices like I most likely will.
Most likely he got them from someone for a decent price or they were sent to him for review for free.
you can still buy these new for cheap

the emo spongebob 😭😭😭
Is there any chance this will get an RG release ?
it is an edgy-looking Gundam but its pilot Duo Maxwell is not an edgelord but your chill friendly guy who will be great at parties.
*Edge lord* 💀
Extra torso, seam line feet, polycap hands, bizarre stuff. Not building this! lol very entertaining, though. And kids get to say "hell".
lol yep! 😂
Huehuehue.. D-Hell🤭
Yikes…
