Sylvina Quamina (Civil servant from Woolwich, Greenwich, South-East London) versus Yvette Rowley (Secretary from Bournemouth, Dorset)
Mark Mottram (Plumber and stuntman from Chingford, East London) versus Andrew Lewis (Sport athlete and PE teacher from London)
Notes: The Wall and Hang Tough finally appear for the first time which they were supposed to be played from the first heat.
Duel appears in the second Southern heat as a core event and a combat event in an event line-up for even numbered heats as it interchanges with Gauntlet.

I think Nightshade appeared again, but this is often considered as her end on Gladiators. Brilliant athlete and classy woman who was dealt a cruel hand of fate.
Don't know what was funnier: Hunter's disdain when he saw how crap Andrew was on The Wall or Phil's "clash" with Wolfman.
Has to be the year when gladiatours UK was at the peak of its powers. Great show and everyone remembered Wolf/Jet/Lightning/Cobra/Shadow w throuht. Great show and so 1990's. Baywatch and then You Bet and then Gladiators.
Nightshade is one of my favorite gladiators. She was the Queen of the Joust and Suspension Bridge from Season 2 to 4. It almost seems like they tried to replace her with Rio but there is and will always be one Nightshade 🥰
Rio was not her replacement it was Laser. Rio had the most upright respect for her black queen (nightshade) and said on the glad pod that she beat her in duel
@@tourous4life Fair enough, I like Laser too, but she ended up as Sheena in Springbok on the SA show. Rio of course is very powerful in Duel.

I keep hearing they're bringing Gladiators back! I hope so. They need to keep the fun/playful yet slightly grand elements from it with focus on good sportsmanship. They also need to keep the theme song! Just arrange it with a high quality orchestra and use modern guitar tones, percussion and production. Maybe good powerful female vocals would work better too.

They are. It's already started filmng. I saw a feature about how the women's outfits would be slightly less revealing as the ladies had to tape pants in place which was uncomfortable. Some will still be wearing two pieces but with short shorts.
Jeez they weren't very kind to Sylvina on the events in comparison to Yvette! They give Sylvina Lightning on Skytrak, Rio on Whiplash and Duel, Vogue on Hang Tough and Rebel on The Wall. Think Yvette got easier opponents in every game!
How stunning beautiful was Falcon? Jeez! Didn't appreciate it at the time... as I was about 8. What a woman.
And now, her feathers are the wings of an angel.
I remember meeting her when I was younger. I also meet Nightshade around the same time. Still have their autographs. Both were very polite and friendly to talk to. Everyone's likes Jet but Facon was my favourite.
Man, poor Nightshade. She seemed like she was very out of it there. Sorry her run ended like this.
She was in a very bad way after The Ashes 1 Series & that was pretty much the end for this legendary gladiator
Best to remember her for her Outstanding Work in Series 2-4
She looked really thin and bony on the Duel, it was tragic to see it considering how good she had been. You never know how a virus is going to affect you.
As soon as I saw she was up on Duel, I grimaced. She was my favourite Gladiator and it’s heartbreaking seeing her like this 😢
Can't complain about Yvette's outfit. It seemed to be the winning combo up to this point that had most wins.
Indeed although she said in her next round that she let go on Hang Tough as she thought her knickers were going to come down
If Andrew Lewis had the calibre of Paul Field we weren't going to see it that evening.

At 6'2" tall and weighing 13 stone, which equals to 182 pounds, Rio is the tallest and the heaviest UK female gladiator ever.
Rio is the UK equivalent to America's Sky/Jazz
I thought Laser was the tallest (by a center metre above Rio).
Phil Norman you should know that taking on Wolf is a bad idea!
The female winner had to push off the side section to get up the travellator , it was that same side that the male winner touched, though he went down and did it again. For a 100m Hurdler she sure made an absolute meal of that travellator.
And strange how the one thing Andy got right was the travellator throughout the whole contest. It was the only time he showed some good athleticism, I somehow expect he got stage fright or something during the competition with all the attention on him and was glad for it to be over.
I think Andrew was the first contender not to score any points at all.
Saracen is usually glorious to watch on the rings.
Gladiators this year seems to get a massive amount of work out of Rio

I was really ruling for Nightshade on Duel. She was the queen in Duel & Suspension Bridge in prior seasons.

Not a good end for Nightshade, This wasn't the best season for her.
From what I remember, she picked up a virus the previous year during the first Ashes series and I wonder if it resurfaced during this series.
Sylvina's duel, 20/19 seconds left, Rio clearly not in control of her balance, does she touch the contender's podium? Looks like it.
Looking at it in Slow-Motion at around 19.8, it does look like her pugil-stick touches the other platform, although its difficult to tell from the angle we saw it.
If she did use the pugil-stick to regain her balance it would be a DQ.

Andy what a pitiful pethetic 5 events leading up to the eliminator,, how the fuck do you expect to win with a dismissive attitude to the events? Mottram no pressure whatsover, could have fell fown the traverlater twice and still won, so hard to tell how good he is atm tbh.
Mottram was almost faultless the only mistake was the travellator but quite wisely especially after Michelle Kimberly's saga in the Northern Prelims went back down to did it properly
In my home country's version, after two or three bonified attempts on the treadmill, they get a free passage. I did see Mark stepped on the silver part of the treadmill, he did the right thing to stop, if he had not stopped he would have been disqualified or penalized

@@jacobburtonswfc different games. Wes won the final of international gladiators but this guy claims to have beaten Paul Field on a track or bob sled event. I just found his claim bizarre given how poor he evented in the show.
@@jacobburtonswfc yes on Gladiators Paul was only ever beaten by Wes Berry. Bear in mind Paul had to run the eliminator with sore ribs which he got from a nasty accident in Powerball only finished about a second behind Wes so still very impressive.
