    I'm on XV 167 (the store run out of 163s) and to be honest I use it all over the mountain with no issues. This board rides smaller than you'd think. I'm only 81kg's 176cm height and it works! wish I could get my hands on 163 to compare and fee the difference.

    So you're saying I need multiple XV boards? 😉
    Husband has got the 167 XV, I tried it as well and actually works great even though it is as long as I am. I actually now got a volume shifted board with rocker in the nose and camber underfoot, like it a lot. But still love my diva as the everyday go to, do it all board.
    Hope to be able to try the sushi some day.

    Hey Xavier! I've learned a whole lot from your video series, especially your steep riding and rocky terrain videos. I'm curious about your thoughts on a hardboot splitboard set up like Phantoms for mountaineering objectives. What do you think about them?

    • @HOWTOXV
      @HOWTOXV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think hard boot hybrid it definitely the future. I have never come across the phantom but it definitely makes sense. I struggle with the full hard boot set up as I prefer to focus on the way down but it does really make sense and is clearly the way we should evolve. I actually would like to try them...

    Salut Xavier. Comment aider à se décider entre la XV ou la Sashimi en splitboard ? Je vis à Pau et c’est pas demain que je me mettrai des méga lignes en pentes raides, je suis plus casual et pas assez montagnard (ou expert en snowboard) pour le gros lourd ! la XV a l’air folle (même si j’ai vu que vous alliez la changer un peu pour l’an prochain probablement). Hi David - That is my signature split bindings which have been co-developed with Rossignol Snowboards and French split bindings company Plum.
      It’s a 7075 T6 aluminum CNCied binding that weighs approximately 860grams per foot and only available in Europe, Asia and Canada, not in the USA. You can find it here if you would like some more info: www.rossignol.com/fr/rossignol-xv-split-s-m-with-interfaces-and-crampons-fixations-snowboard-rgg0040-0000tu-2018-2019.html

Also have you any recommendations for an all-around board (im doing some small jumps and some rails but also i love to carve ) that is wide? my bindings are the BM joint if that has anything to do :P, thanks in advance and keep doing more videos like this , you help us a lot man :)

      Hi Mike,
      Thanks for reaching out. it’s not really easy to advise you in terms of park all round as I am more into freeride boards. Which brand do you like? From Rossignol the Angus or the one. the important I would suggest if you like to carve is to not take rocker camber, stay with a traditionnal shape. In terms of length 56 or 58 works if you like to not ride too fast in chop and that you don’t ride much pow.
      as for the width the more narrow the better as long as your boots don’t stick out too much.
      Xv

    • @xavierdelerue537

    • @xavierdelerue537
      @xavierdelerue537 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      first thing is to be sticking to something you are used to. positive in the back is more comfortable and efficient and offers more range of movement but if you do lots of switch and you value that then negative becomes a good compromise...

    Hello Xavier, I love your channel. I'm 196 cm tall and 85kg weight. Shall I go for touring and freeride big mountain ride with 165cm splitboard or 168cm? Why do you recommend a shorter split board? For now, I'm selling all my boards and will stay only with splitboard.

    • @HOWTOXV
      @HOWTOXV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Kosama - sorry for the slow response. The reason I recommend a shorter board is just because it is less weight to carry, so if you are going on big missions - and it sounds like you will be - then it can be nice to save a bit of energy. Hope that helps. Xv

    • @HOWTOXV
      @HOWTOXV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hola Robert, thx for your message. I think that because of the long nose you should go for the 163 ( it will also be a bit stiffer) but it depends what is your priority: touring for touring or touring for riding pow.

    • @robertrob6547
      @robertrob6547 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HOWTOXV Tournig for riding pow definitely. So there is a difference in the hardness between 163 and 159? is there a big difference in maneuverability between them?

    • @HOWTOXV
      @HOWTOXV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robertrob6547 I ride the 59 as well so it should be fine for you as you are 20 kg lighter.
      It depends on your style if you like to play around and do little tricks around or if you like a bit more speed and stability in all kinds of snows…
      I love the 63 above all but I am way heavier.
      They are a pretty similar stiffness.

  • @profischimmler6428
    @profischimmler6428 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yo Xavier, would you downsize your boards if you were lighter? For example, I weigh around 67kg and i found a 158 to be unrideable (172cm is my height). Will a 154 volume shifted deck hold me back sometime when i try to maximum pin it, like, really hard?

    • @xavierdelerue537
      @xavierdelerue537 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi, for sure that does influence a bit but not a huge amount. It is crazy to watch from the distance people riding lines and being able to tell really easily how long there board is. longer boards make every turn bigger and much steadier and the overall is a lot cleaner.158 is good fro trees and mellow freeriding but if you start charging a bit that's where you will find limitations.

      That means shift a bit the high bak horizontally so that the top part is almost alined with the edge. That means unscrewing the high back and turning it. It does a lot of freedom to the front ankle and avoids getting stuck on the front foot
