there is a reason why everyone likes xavier! his so calm and radiates good energy, and the french accent is so smooth u can spread it on ur bread like butter, french butter =) everyone: hav a good surf on ur turf!
Hell ya Xavier is back! You and Travis are the ones that got me really hyped for snowboarding when I was 22. How is maribel at france with all the virus stuff going on, thinking about going there this winter.
I've got the Rossignol XV 159 and I use a 53cm stance with +21/-3 angles. I've got a Japan trip coming with lots of powder, is it worth setting it back all the way even though the board is directional and has ~20mm setback from the factory?
I could spend hours listening to this man even explaining even the simplest. One question, if you delay the bindings until the setback, do you lose effective edge? Or does the board act differently on the piste? Thanks crack !!!
Wow, i never tought riding with zero forward highback lean on the front binding would help with better carving and control...i guess its logical!? Gotta try that
I think you need to listen to that part again. 🤔😏 Besides, if you are intermediate or lower, you can't expect to set your board up how a pro rider does it. You need to do your setup for what is anatomically correct for your body and what feels right. 👍
@@bimfred Hope there will be enough snow this season, most important that everyone stay healthy in this wierd times. Take care, and wish you great season
@@belibeli5908 Thanks!! A great season for you too! We will be touring only im France until mid-January because they are not opening lifts. Should be fun!
The thing with highback rotation on the front foot is that it makes your front knee be stuck in the front and not be able to go back, and you can't top move freely. It depends on your style of riding and maybe on the bindings you have. So the best thing is to try both options and see. Xv
Hey Xavier! Do you rotate the highback only on your front foot or also the back foot? Why do you choose so? I always rotate both highbacks. Thanks for the video!
I do only front to have the high back aligned with the axes of the edge and there for being able to move my ankles back and forwards. It's my style but everyone should try what they like and what fits to their technique and style - but give it a go - I like it!
Great video Xavier! Quick question, something that is an issue for many of us: knee issues. You mentioned that setting your angles duck is something that can potentially cause knee problems. Why would that be? Thanks!
I feel that it limitates quite a lot the range of movement of the knee in the end of the turn and therefore can pull more on the knee . But hey it depends your style off riding and also you’re flexibility and the way your knees can handle pressure... Hope that helps. Xv
Soo exactly how much angle do you put on your back foot. My binding have certain degrees. I usually ride 5-10 maximum. But I'm curious if you think that's good enough angle for the back foot. I have 5 degrees on my front foot for alittle more technical riding. Also does you highback on the back foot have any rotation or is it angled with the binding? Thanks. Great video.
Hola angles is a really personal thing. I have 3 on the back and 18 on the front. For the highback angle I only put some on the front foot because I have more angle, so nothing on the back foot.. Hope that helps. Cheers Xv
Hi ! that was very useful ! I would like ask you, which is stance good for knee by a park rider ? Because I ride always duck stance since 10 years and feel pain already in my knees.
You mean setting back the bings in terms of set back? Or angle? If its set back you are talking about, I would say that also on groomer or smooth packed snow, having a lot of set back will kill the balance of your board in terms of driving your turn and you won’t be able to put a good spread out pressure onto your board while leading your turn, and also all the different moves will be less balanced ( so the board will be less responsive and playful). Xv
someone plz help. i always get sore and pain on my front left shin. if you go up 12-14 inches and over to the right 2-3 inches on my left front leg starting from my foot that is where the pain is i think it has to do with my left(front) binding angle because my back leg ( right) never hurts
Hi Frank - will look into it again, but the viewing numbers were really really low on the Russian subs... Thanks for your support, I really appreciate it. Xv
Yeeewwwwww! If Xavier is back, powder is waiting around the corner!!!!!! Great to see you again over here!
Haha after doing this for 10 years myself, i still find it entertaining to watch stuff like this
Yesss, I love this series. Glad to see you back!

I don’t think you should add any set back on the XV even in deep pow. As you say it is already set back and has quite a bit of pin tail.
Enjoy JapoW!
It’s coming down in Verbier right now!

Yes, he sounds like the friend of a French family that I stayed with in the 80s. 😊
Miss your content professor x
Nice !
Hi, Xavier! I'm setting up my bindings now. You sad that duck stance in long term could hurt knees, does slightly duck (+18,-6) hurt knees too?
please do more!

would also like to know this! feels like there could be a whole how to on high backs and how it affects riding
He says he's usually around 0-3 degrees on back foot, maybe that's why he's saying he rotates only the front one?
@@TheGreenDeveloper Ohhhh yeah, haven't thought about that. Makes sense of course. Cheers mate

I would like ask you,
which is stance good for knee by a park rider ?
Because I ride always duck stance since 10 years and feel pain already in my knees.
Hard to say, I know it’s not good to have a too big stance difference between front and back.. Xv
Hey xavier, why do you do more forward lean on back foot?
Any other disadvantages for setting back the bindings other than the switch stuff

Ha ha - thanks Kesang. Next time I come I will be sure to bring one for you. Xv
Which Jacket is the one under your Vest?
Hey Derek - it is The North Face camo logo sweatshirt - but I am not sure it is in stock anywhere now...
Hellow, your bord camber or rocker?
My board is camber underfoot and rocker in the tip and tail - you can find all the info here: www.rossignol.com/uk/rejwc07-000.html
@@XVDLR thanks!! Videos 💪💪💪
Why only the front foot when changing ur highback?
Because the back foot is at 3 degrees so a lot less angle compared to the line of the edges hence more freedom of movement. Cheers Xv
