That kid has a lot to learn about trail and race etiquette! Hats off to you for an exhilarating performance, only coming off your board once because of a pileup, not once missing an “on your left/right”, letting people take the line because it’s safer to do so. A true show of sportsmanship! It’s no wonder you won Male Rider of the Year!! Congratulations, Nico!
Damn that was fingerlicking fun to watch! You could've won easily if you were as aggressive as your friend but you were a gentleman throughout, incredible! The community should start calling you Mister Ambassador or smth like that.
I kept distance for a reason 😂 Also, if I hadn't passed Tyler last second going into the trail, I would've been piled up right there, that's why I pushed so hard to at least get to second going into the single-track 👌
Man that was so awesome to watch! What great sportsmanship on your part! The only part that killed me was the kid in the green shirt knocking people off their board and screamingatthem with an attitude. He doesn't respect others and is gonna get someone hurt. There's definitely a reason everyone was cheering you on!
Yeah… that Jahfari kid was real rude when passing people. Sure he’s a great rider, but he will struggle in this community with a personality like that.
I caught that part too and was pretty disappointed to hear it. The mass endurance race is supposed to be for fun and includes all skill levels and while it’s good to be competitive, you don’t need to be gettin nasty with people clearly slower than you but still trying their best.
No comments on the attitude of that kid, I hope someone reminded him that you don't talk to people like that. That being said, no wonder you outperformed everyone with that board. I only have a CBXR for the moment, and I outpace GT's.
What the fuck did I just watch. I'm just sitting here and I'm sweaty! So this is what it looks like to be elite on trail 🤯 Insane speed! So cool to see with the speedo and the tilt control. I have a greater appreciation for this run with all the technicality
Man So disappointing to hear Jafari in that video - just straight embarrassed for him as a representative of our racing community -I mean fair enough he’s young but if that was my kid I’d be straight up mortified -i wonder if he’s still stoked that you captured that on go pro as he said after the race?that was just brutal to hear/watch
Starting lap 3, 11:30, it's impressive how far camera and stabilisation has come to produce an almost FPS-like experience. Arms flailing about, rough terrain, yet the video is stable AF. Proper riding, good etiquette.
I know he's a kid and all but jafari was being a dick about trying to win. He should watch your videos and learn race etiquette. As always great video and awesome race 🔥🤙
There were a couple of pile ups on that root at 1:53 where i was able to take the right side over the root with the big tire + vesc power that allowed me to stay on board.
5:44 shoulda hit the damn jump. Idk how this got suggested to me... I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. I always yell "ONE WHEEL" out the window when i drive past somebody riding a onewheel. I think I need to save up and buy one.
Do ittt 😎 I won't lie, I went into this race planning to hit that small kicker on every lap hahaha, but wasn't expecting it to be as close and intense as it was. Probably not smart to hit it when you have a lead and someone REAL hungry for first is gaining on you 😅 Side note, hopefully this Short satisfies your desire to see me hit a jump haha th-cam.com/users/shortsEn79KS5hpts?feature=share
Hell yeah you would've bro, awesome time nonetheless! Riding Captain Morgan pushback through the pump track is insane 😂 Also props on hauling ass to catch up on that last lap, I didn't notice you were just chillin on the gravel when I came into the last lap chasing down Jahfari, and you still managed to get up and catch up within the same lap 👏
@@nicoaleman haha once y’all passes me I made it my goal to try to catch back up with y’all and I’m glad I was able to catch up with you 🤟🏼🤟🏼 awesome racing bro and I can’t wait to do it again ! Think I’ll be jumping on that vesc train here soon👀👀👀
@Nosediver He totally should IMO 👌 That said, I believe Floaty is also on iOS? Not sure if it's on the app store yet or only in test flight, I just remember it being multi-platform (I believe?)
Man what was the dramatic explosion sound at 13:53? Was that the dude that fell’s GT falling off a super tall cliff or something? Damn! And what’s with the stupid ATV going the wrong way down the *racetrack*? 😂 Overall, great watch. Awesome Nico🤘
Not sure if I'm hearing what you're hearing, but I go off a small kicker at that time stamp, so you can hear the quick free spin and the landing, not exactly an explosion sound though haha
Well considering I didn't even win here, I'd say probably not haha, but it was my endurance that was my downfall 😅 It looks like I use it a lot just because of my style of riding in how I use it, I prefer to run a soft tune and use the remote to not only control the board angle, but also "stiffen" the board as desired. So for example, if I push the board enough to nose drag with a soft tune, and tilt it up 20°, it'll basically be level. The remote absolutely helps, especially with any fast transitions like in the pump track section, but I could get by fine without it, I would just be running a much stiffer tune probably. But ultimately I feel more comfortable and confident with the remote, and more than anything, it's just hella fun to ride with that extra control, that's the biggest reason I run it.
@@wayofflow955 It's not exactly as streamlined of a process as I'd like it to be, to put it simply 😂 But in short, I'm using data logs (previously from METR, now transitioning to Floaty so I can use Remote Tilt data), and using scripts to re-format the data a bit to be used with Telemetry Overlay, which lets me add custom gauges like you see using that data and some careful time syncing. It's pretty tedious currently, but the end result is worth it to me
@@nicoalemanok, so you have some script that take the remote data log and converted into video or picture with the right control level in time. I love it Awesome!
It's a definite game changer! Being able to get the nose up without braking is pretty huge for carrying your speed into certain things, and just for hard accelerations and hauling uphill in general. More than anything though, it just makes the ride so much more fun having that extra control, IMO
Fuck that was intense! What a great run man! I want to commend you for your awesome attitude, etiquette, and everything you do for the OW community; it's top notch man, highly respectable. Could you detail what kind of board you're running and any mods (like rails, tire, etc.)? Thx man!
A showcase of top skill and trail etiquette, while others be taking themselves a bit too seriously for a race that includes all skill levels and supposed to be for fun.
Brah you eve pass me on a trail feel free to use me as sling shot would be an honor get a fly by from the legend..... The Real Flash rides a onewheel his name is Nico...
Nahh man we still love him, the dude's still putting in the work and bringing some serious competition to the sport. Could he have had better sportsmanship in this race? For sure, it'd be one thing if it was all pros, but it's a race that's more-so "for fun" and I personally try to put in an effort to do my best while not putting others at risk or ruining their fun. But you also have to consider two things: One, he just came straight from being in RFTR Finals, where you absolutely did have to be more aggressive, and I don't fully blame him for still being in that mindset, especially when there's kind of a spotlight on him lately and probably the pressure of meeting high expectations. And Two, he's only 14 man haha. To jump straight to hate is just stooping to the same level. Better to be constructive and let it be a learning opportunity of how it can come across to others and affect others. Jahfari is still an awesome dude and impressive athlete, it'd be a shame to just shoot him down without giving him a chance to learn and grow. I personally can't wait to see his future in the sport 🤙
@@nicoaleman I really hope he apologized to both the person he pushed off his board and the person he was screaming at on lap 3. The person he was screaming at is a friend of mine and I was pretty irked when I got to that point of the video.
Let's all be mindful that Jahfari is a young man at 14 years old - learning, growing, and maturing before our eyes. Let's give him grace and compassion as we continue to model racer etiquette for him. I am hopeful that he will rise to the occasion.
There should be age & weight divisions , Suggestion: child 0-12 teen 13-17 adult 18 & up, 0-125 lbs. 126-175 lbs. 176-225 lbs. 226-plus lbs., only combining divisions when less than 10 riders in a division, 👍👍
There already are some age divisions, as well as a Clydesdale class for I believe 215+lbs! But we still all race together for this one, just have separate podiums. A ton of divisions like you described would just be too much for race organizers to handle, it's a handful for them as it is
