You can also add element damage to the Kinsect itself, it really helps add to the damage and you can use the same or a different element to capitalize and the monsters multiply weaknesses. There’s also two types of Kinsects, severing and blunt which can be effected by certain glaives
7:18 Yes I am. I have been doing this kinsect only full game run and I gotta say, the kinesct during early Icebrone is a BEAST. The huge movility and the fact all your skills are defensive makes the hunts ez as cake. For as long as yourr glaive has elemental boost and your kinsect drips some lvl 20 elemtal damage you're set for any 3 star weakness (MR vaal is the only one with no 3 star weakness) and any quest last for arround 20 min. Needless to say alatreon DPS check melts when facing a kinsect. I got to seal him twice with ice element in ice active alatreon during draco phase. The main downsides are the huge amount of clicks for the kinesct to work and the hunts being 20 minute average and really hard to get any faster. 100% recommended for any hunter who's into dumb challenges or looking for a secret meta strat. Sorry for my terrible english.
There’s also a “technique” called kinsect drill when you use your descending thrust while the kisect is on you: when you press the input in the air for your descending thrust the kinsect detach from your body and when you land the second hit that marks a body part of the monster, the kinsect will fly straight for that point hitting everything in the way. Can be tricky at times but camera angles and positioning helps a lot For maximising damage you wanna be using a kinsect with low speed e maximum strength so it can hit more times and harder (pause). Very nice vid man!
@yourdad5799 I used to think like that too You will get used to the slow movement BUT believe me the damage you get from the Verzistag Forz (High Power/Slow/Blast Dust) is unbelievable You can get 300+ damage numbers from blast dusts many times in a fight It is more than 2 mega barrels and for free

You should definitely try the Agitator Secret + Master Touch Build with 2 pieces Raging Brachy and 3 pieces Teos, add more Expert Jewel, Evade Window, Constitution... For comfort. If you want more damage, go for Crit Boost, Weakness Exploit, Partbreaker and 4 levels of Attack Boost since it gives you 5% affinity as well.
Also, you can be a madman like me and try a funny build with 2 pieces of Ruiner Nergi for Hasten Recovery, 2 pieces of Raging Brachy for Agitator Secret, 1 piece of Blackvail + A Safi glaive with Vaal Soulvein, and finally, Health Augment... Yeah, a vampiric build, pretty funny to try.
If you want to make ay of the clutch claw an instant tenderize, equip the 3 slot Deco called "shaver". You have to go to the melder and use some decorations you don't use/like. It is expensive but it is such a game changer

Omg. I remember playing world long before iceborne was a thing. I played solo, and the insect glaive was my go-to way back then. I was underutilizing a lot of its ground combos, and I DEFINITELY didn't know you could charge the kinsect! I recently started playing on my ps5, and I've been branching out to more melee weapons - especially the switch axe atm - but still have a collection of insect glaives at the ready. Learning the switch axe has made me utilize the ground combos of the glaive way more effectively, and because I still have a faint memory of how a lot of the monsters work, I rarely take any damage. But thats insane that I didn't know the insect could be charged too. There are so many monsters I can kill in one buff window without the charge (still early game), but this tiny fact will 100% increase my effectiveness for heftier prey down the road

Flinch Free is your best friend and you can play with two mindsets: Either spam divebombs during openings and let your kinsect drill through monsters and retrieve repeatedly (if you have the iceborne doc) or go for mounting damage and evade when necessary while the kinsect produces powders around the monster for team support But one thing that’s important when playing the IG is using the kinsect and never forget you have your little buddy to provide you support to you and your team either with damage, crowd control, or healing as a lot of players new to IG tend to forget about insect and focus on the glaive.
one thing to add is that IG should aim for 100% crit to be effective. not sure if its exactly 100% in world (it is in rise), but 100% at least for hitting weak points
i think all monster hunter 4 ultimate weapons are most fun to play with for me. i usualy use chargeblade but insecglave is always fun to jump around with

Descending thurst (DT) move feels like bit tricky to use, it can do huge damage before get red kinsect buff and if kinsect pierce along monster body with slower speed, it could surpass Tornado slash total damage. But this move has less reliability cuz it require proper move control and positioning. I remember when Banbaro exhausted and cluggering getting one shot from DT ruining my investigation quest wasting my supply :v
I love this weapon. I do stay too much in the air, but if the monster doesn't stop for a second in MR, there's nothing to do, but to fly away XD I don't want to change my Kinsect, because of affection reasons XD So Pallo will come with me even if it's not a meta kinsect, but just a little, chubby, round ladybug
I know the insect glaive isn’t an S tier weapon, but i really just can’t let it go, I tried going back to LS SA even tried Hammer, DB, but IG is just so much fun lol
Like he said, the frostfang barioth insect glaive. In case you never found it, it’s called Fenrir Rose, which you can either sidegrade from the barioth tree, or straight up craft by spending some more resources
I Used to Just a LS player..but when I learn how to used this weapon and understand how to use it, I Regret that why I never used this weapon in My First time play MHW..haha..
You forget about if people are doing it a solo run without any help would it be still op weapon because for me it doesn't matter what I do I always get hit or feel like I'm not doing any damage

@@michaelnazario8019 try to upgrade your weapons so you have as much raw, affinity, and sharpness as possible. use ground combos against the monster's head rather than aerial attacks (I mention this in the video)
IG is considered raw weapon. It has really bad elemental values on attacks and going element is rather bad. Other then that you can say it's a really good beginer introduction to the weapon.
Everything is considered a raw weapon in World, other than for very few specific circumstances on certain enemies with high ass elemental hit zones, it’s by far the best. So I dunno, I find it a bit redundant to talk about the weapons’ elemental values/boosts on attacks. It hits fast and plentiful, so it can work great with elemental, it doesn’t need to be more complex than that 🤷
I overall like the weapon but I really dislike the way insects look, such a shame really. That's why the Behemoth's layered armor giving you a mini dragon instead is so fucking goated for me, too bad rise doesn't have it or anything similar

Ive been an insect glaive main since it came out in 4u! I love having constitution on my builds to help with stamina usage

I was diagnosed with insect glaive one tricking in rise. Came back to world to try out insect glaive and beat the game. Its so much stronger in world
IG ground combos absolutely shred in World
one thing to add is that IG should aim for 100% crit to be effective. not sure if its exactly 100% in world (it is in rise), but 100% at least for hitting weak points

I think with the innate flinch free from powering up your IG it's not really something worth going out of your way for
