How To Use Schematics To Fix Stuff Part 3

- The Yamaha PC2002M Amplifier still has a Protection Fault on Both Channels. I have a schematic for this amplifier so let's see how to use it to diagnose the fault. It's not the item I am trying to repair here that is the important thing, it's all about the methodical approach and techniques I am using. If you want to learn how to read, understand and use schematics to help in your repair work, here is a good practical example. Enjoy.

Thank you Richard, finally had some time to watch this one. I really liked the part where you broke down this fault in smaller chunks 🥰..
Big red cursor is a hit, Rich!😁
Well done Richard. Good to see it all up and working. You really know your stuff. 😁
I wholeheartedly agree that, despite not being from the UK, Northern Soul is a great vibe.
Never really caught on in the States unfortunately
Any conclusion on why the diode failed??
I can’t work out what it is doing there .
Great , relaxed approach to diagnostics .
@24:50 the "missing" part of the schematic is shown on right hand side of page 11.
Very good ... always enjoy an investigation and a mystery bonus 😀👍
Not sure you are right about including music from other places in TH-cam though, only because record labels get a lot of licensing revenue from creators to include their tracks in their work ... but keeping it short you ought to be fine 🤞
ANY DECISION ON WHY DIODE FAILED ? I WONDER IF IT WAS THE GLUE?????????
In the Schematic, what does "PDA" mean, related to the power supply, i.e. "PDA- +80"?
It's the 'name' of that PCB. The equivalent one on the other channel is PDB
I assume Power Delivery A and Power Delivery B
@@marcellipovsky8222 I'm thinking Pre-Driver Amplifier A&B but that is just a guess based on what that PCB is doing
Hi Richard. I'm a fan of yours and my uncle who is a seasoned electronics repair tech is also a big fan of yours whom I have the privelage to be related to. As a musician, I am frustrated with using Peavey amps and foot pedals as they do not support their equipment by giving out any sort of schematics as I guess they are paranoid of anyone copying their stuff. I have a footpedal called the sanpera I which quit working and my uncle helped me diagnose as not putting out enough voltage. It uses 5 volts but it only put out 3.5 volts. Or actually it is powered by the amplifier which is putting out the reauired 5 volts but the pedal is only accepting 3.5 volts or something like that. Maybe it's a throw away item. My uncle is impressed with you because you are able to fix stuff without a schematic and my uncle said he could not help me without a schematic. Is there any way I could ship this to you and you maybe could fix it or most likely it wouldn't even be worth it I'm guessing. Just thought I'd ask. Thanks for any reply.
WELL DONE
Awesome work !...cheers.
My only expertise is in cake disposal, but is it possible that you nicked the glass diode while scraping off the glue which then let air in and caused slow internal decay/corrosion?
definitely going to use this video thank youu
Nice to see you liked it. There is some useful info on fault finding techniques in this video for sure 🙂
I can't believe you didn't remove "all" that crappy glue from around all components as it becomes conductive due to it's hydroscopic nature as it ages... Often the value of the components can change dramatically as well..
The band colors (verdure and light blue) seems to denote the correct diode. Why don't they just call it green instead of "verdure"?
Please help me. I will change the MOSFET of my motherboard because it was damaged by water. Will this change affect anything? Can you advise me what to do? The motherboard is asus tuf gaming b450m pro s 😢
If you can get schematics. Getting schematics from Crest is like pulling teeth.
